Power Steering Light On Problems of Nissan Sentra

I came out of work to leave and my power steering light came on as some as I was leaving work. Thankfully I was not on the highway when this happened. I had no warning that it was going out on a car that is just 3 year old. I want to get the word out so no one gets hurts!.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that the power steering and engine warning lights would illuminate intermittently, followed by a loss of power steering assist. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised that since the vehicle was no longer under warranty and the power steering and engine lights did not remain illuminated consistently, there was nothing that could be done to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer would not repair the failure unless the power steering light and engine light remained illuminated. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 44,000.

The power steering light will remain light and the power steering will not work. If the power steering light turns off, there are several loud clunking noises and the steering feels as if the wheels have hit something when turned. This is a persistent problem and has been occurring for quite some time and keeps getting worse. I believe there is a TSB already on this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving 35 mph the steering wheel seized. The engine was turned off and on and the steering then reset. The power steering warning light was also illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,595.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. Upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the power steering light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the power steering motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 84,488 and the current mileage was unknown.

Power steering failure. Drove car and then parked. Returned to car and upon starting noticed that the power steering failure light was on and had no power steering when driving. (system is electric power steering) drove car to dealer with no power steering. Following day, when dealer attempted to perform corrective service and diagnose problem the power steering is working. Therefore they have released the vehicle as not having any service problem. I have no confidence that the problem will not occur again and potentially cause an accident.

I own a 2007 Nissan Sentra, the power steering light (ps) continues to come on and the electric power steering does not work on occasion - it has failed beginning at 1 year of ownership and has continued to fail even this morning - August 12, 2009. Don williamson Nissan will not replace the faulty electric motor (pulled by computer code from the car) even though I have documentation of the faulty code at 32,043 miles which was still under warranty. This is a safety hazard - Nissan USA will not fix the problem because the car is now out of warranty. I will never buy another Nissan and I currently own 3 - they have a dishonest service department and are unwilling to satisfy their warranty.
