I recently purchased a 2012 Nissan Sentra. I immediately noticed the vehicle drifting to the left. As part of a will owe from the dealership I asked for this to be repaired. First alignment. After the alignment was done I was informed the "specs" were fine and the technician mentioned this could also be road crown or torque pull which is normal for front wheel drive vehicles. ?? I asked for a second look, this time the service manager went with me for the test drive and noticed the drifting and kept the vehicle. They did another alignment (2nd) specs ok and replace the oem tires with a knock- off set. The vehicle is still drifting. I informed Nissan at this point to see if they can step in. They recommended taking it to another dealership. I brought the vehicle to a local dealership, third alignment. Specs ok . I continued my complaint with the Nissan rep. And they had a engineer come out to look at the vehicle. Fourth alignment. His opinion this is a characteristic of Sentra models and stated no adjustments, no abnormalities and it drives this way because this is a different type of steering column. Wow I would think Nissan would be more concerned about a dangerous driving "characteristic" on one of their vehicles. This process has taken two and half months, four alignments, three separate opinions of the drifting issue and other than a replacement of a set of knock-off tires the problem still exist. . This is a dangerous issue that Nissan is not willing to fix. I have seen on carcompaints. Com that this is not an isolated issue there are quite a few complaints about this same drifting on the same vehicle so that proves the engineer right but Nissan is still not willing correct the problem. Sad and dangerous attitude to have. I am confident this will end up on a recall. For now I'm stuck with a dangerous vehicle that I wouldn't want anyone else to drive.

My car's power steering stop working. According to Nissan I need a new power steering column, price 1795. 00 plus labor and tax. They have a recall on the Nissan Sentra 2007 for this same reason but for some reason my cars's VIN is not one of them. I think if my car has the same problem as the other ones it should be included in the recall.

Brakes make loud squealing and grinding noise starting as little as 8 to 10 thousand miles even when pads and rotors are fine. The steering column pops and jolts slightly when turning starting at 27 thousand miles. The car makes a clunking noise when taking moderate to hard right or left turns at any speed. One tire sensor has already gone bad at 20 thousand miles.
My girl friend was driving are, 2009 Nissan Sentra at about 40 mph , she attempted to make a left hand turn, the car would not turn , so she had to go straight ,and try to turn into a parking lot. The problem is the electric motor (servo) shorting out in the steering column . To fix the problem you have to replace the hole steering column . The servo and power steering computer are attached. Factory part cost 1600. 00$ &600. 00$ labor to install.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while traveling 2 mph making a sharp left turn, a clunking noise emitted from the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 16,800 and the current mileage was 17,620.
During a uturn the steering wheel locked and was unable to continue. Auto needed to be towed back to the dealership. Was given an estimate for $2500 to replace the entire steering column.
For a year or so my steering has begun to shake and make a clicking sound, especially while going down a hill and applying the brakes. At first I thought it was my brakes, and I took the car to my mechanic. However, after an inspection of the entire vehicle, my car received a clean bill of health. Even the brakes were in great condition. The mechanic did witness my complaint while road testing the vehicle and informed me that it seems to be a design flaw in my steering column. He offered to order parts and replace the damaged component, but my car is not even three years old! the clicking can also be heard when the car is in park and you just turn the wheel from side to side. The clicking was barely noticeable at first, but after about six months it became progressively worse. Now it is loud enough and my wheel shakes so badly that my passengers ask me what is wrong with my car. Something is just not right.

While driving the vehicle, a bolt in the steering column broke and the wheel was no longer connected to the wheels, making a turn the wheel became impossible as the wheel spun completely around multiple times. This is the second time we've had a problem with the steering column, the first time the entire column was replaced. We have owned this car for only 8 months and it was new when we purchased it. We are currently waiting to hear from Nissan about our request for an exchange or refund, and we feel this vehicle is no longer safe to operate.
My 2007 Nissan Sentra was purchased new in December 2006. After having to bring in my car on several occasions for minor glitches (a rear-view mirror falling off, one of the sun-visors fell off), I finally had a big problem. In February 2008, while driving on a straight, flat road, while approaching an intersection I prepared to stop my vehicle for a light. I was about 4 car lengths behind the car ahead of me, and was only traveling about 35 mph. When I pressed the brake pedal softly, nothing happened. Then I pushed the brake pedal down all the way, and still nothing happened. I had a wide shoulder to my right, so I tried turning the wheel and it had locked up. At this point, I made contact with the car ahead of me. My car was immediately taken to a repair shop and had the steering column replaced, as well as the hood of the car and various other parts needing to be fixed. The emotional trauma from the accident was difficult and though there were no established injuries, I did experience slight neck and back pain afterward. I was found to be at fault for the accident, despite the brake and steering wheel malfunction, and subsequently had a large increase in my car insurance premium. A Nissan representative was flown out at my request to run diagnostics on the Sentra but since the steering column was replaced as well as other replaced/fixed parts, no information was found. I am 100% positive that the accident was caused due to a mechanical failure and would warn against purchasing a Nissan Sentra. It was a horrible experience and I'm stuck with the car since Nissan would offer no assistance for the trouble.
While driving during inclement weather a noise from the steering column could be heard. Also, when stopping vehicle steered to the right. Dealer found no problem with steering. Vehicle, at times, hesitated and stalled while driving at highway speeds. At about 4,000 miles, the check engine indicator warning light illuminated.
