36 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2005

Same warpage of front brakes. Dealer said all they are doing is turning rotors. If the shudder continues, what happens when the caliper bracket breaks? the caliper spins and tears the brake line loose, wow no brakes. Nisson will be sued if this is not fixed quickly.

37 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2005

Brakes have terrible vibration/shudder. Replace at 5000, 9,000, 15000, & now 20000 miles.

38 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2005

I purchased a 2004 Nissan Titan le in November of 2004. When the vehicle reached a little over 4,000 miles the brakes started to shudder and the steering wheel would vibrate and also the brake pedal. The local Nissan dealership replaced the brake pads and ground the rotors and the problem appeared fixed. After another 2,000 miles of driving the brake pedal had to be pushed further and further closer to the floorboard to get brakes to stop the truck. Then the steering wheel began to vibrate along with the pedal. The truck was taken back to the local dealership again and the rotors were turned again appearing to solve the problem. After about 200 miles the brakes began to fade again. The steering wheel and the pedal have not started to vibrate yet but going with the past history of the problem it should only be a matter of time. I want Nissan to fix the problem immediately. The problem could not only be a safety problem due to no brake pedal when applied but also vibration from applying pedal. Lastly a truck with only 6500 miles should not keep getting the rotors turned over and over.

39 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2005

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan se and it requires new brakes at 5667 miles due to a faulty brake design. The truck shkes excessively every time I step on the brakes. I am concerned this is a potential problem that may cause an accident.

41 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2005

Nissan 2004 Titan pickup and front brake problems. The brakes are vibrating when you come to a stop. The Nissan dealership describe it as warped rotors on both front brakes. The Nissan dealership said they would temporarily fix the problem until Nissan came out with a permanent fix. As you apply the brakes the steering wheel will shake violently. The consumer has not had the temporary fix done, still waiting on Nissan for the recall notice. The Nissan dealer said that Nissan is working on a permanent fix. Consumer states that when brakes are applied steering is hard to control.

42 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2004

Numerous problems have arisen with my leased 2004 Nissan Titan king cab. Including serious vibration problems that occurred upon braking to the point the vehicle was parked until the dealer finally agreed to at least 'turn' the rotors. Eventually brakes were replaced by dealer 6 months after the initial problem. Currently facing problems including a noise at startup that everyone can hear except the dealer mechanics, an overflow problem with gas tank even though just a few liters have been put in an empty tank. Additionally major problems with driver side door refusing to open from both the inside and outside. Dealer has realigned door numerous times but problem continues. Dealer states the door problem is due to a poor design with a heavy door on inadequate hinges. Occasionally have had to drive while holding door closed. Extremely dangerous considering weight of door. This truck is barely one year old and problems just keep piling up with little dealer support offered.

43 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2004

1 normal driving 2 brake rotor warp (aka brake judder) 3 turn rotors not replaced.

44 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2004

While stopping truck wheel shakes left to right and gets more violent the harder I stopped. Truck had about 4000 miles on it. Took to dealer he replaced front rotors and brake pads it fixed the problem. Now with 6000 mile I notice the same thing starting to happen again. Never had any vechiles brakes fail with so few miles. This must be a defect from factory.

45 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2004

While applying the brake pedal vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection numerous times. Mechanic determined that the rotors needed to be replaced and replaced them. However, the problem recurred.

46 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2004

I've gone through 3 sets of rotors and brakes in 8 months.

47 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2004

Brakes overheated, causing violent shaking of the steering wheel. This occured 4 times within 14000 miles, leading to multiple fixes by dealer which did not work. This could potentialy lead to a failure of the braking system which could cause a fatal accident.

48 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2004

While driving vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that brake pads and rotors wore out and needed to be replaced. However, problem recurred.

Vehicle experienced a problem with the brake pedal pulsating, steering wheel and vehicle vibrating. The vehicle also pulled to the left while braking. Vehicle was taken to the dealer who turned the front rotors. The problem recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The rotors need to be replaced every 4000 miles due to warping.

51 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2004

Excessive shaking in the steering when applying brakes. Took to Nissan dealer 3 times in 16000 miles rotors were turned once happened again then rotors and brakes replaced the 2nd time now had to turn rotors again. Something is wrong but they say im too hard on my brakes and I know that's bulls. .

52 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2004

Premature failure of front brake rotors. Front brakes shudder and vibrate extremely bad when brakes are applied. Dealer will refinish rotors and install new front brake pads for a temporairy repair. I have driven 9400 miles total on this vehicle with three set of front brakes replaced. Have not towed any trailer or vehicle with it to cause failure. Braking system is insufficient for this vehicle and Titan trucks must be recalled for the safety of the owners of this product immediately. This is a severe safety issue that can cause an accident and injury to it's occupants. Nissan will not acknowledge this problem to it's owners and the NHTSA must step in and have them recalled at once.

53 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

Vehicle vibrated/shook when braking. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who had to turn both front rotors, and replaced the brake pads.

54 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2004

Steering wheel vibration and brake pedal vibration when braking. Dealer replaced the front pads and resurfaced the rotors. After reading all of the other complaints for the same problem, I'm probably going to be back at the dealer for the same problem in a couple of thousand miles. I still like my truck though!!!.

55 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2004

Recall campaign: notice received for defective brakes. Rotors warped , both brake rotors replaced. The consumer was told the rotors were too small for the vehicle.

56 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2004

Truck vibrates very roughly and brakes push down low to the floor when brakes are applied. Brakes were first serviced at 4,503 miles on September 24, 2004. Again truck started to vibrate when brakes were applied, and had to be pushed hard and low to floor. Brakes were again serviced at 8,795 miles on January 18, 2005. Truck currently has 12,565 miles and truck again vibrates when brakes are applied, and brakes need to be pressed hard and go low to the floor. Nissan has been notified and waiting for contact for service of truck. In addition, the following items have been noted with Nissan: there is a clunking noise when shifting gears (possible drive shaft problem), truck runs very rough and loud (possible belt tension problem), the radio has bad reception and the dashboard rattles. In addition, it was noted to Nissan that the driver's side mirror reflects the dashboard when driving at night, which is very distracting when looking into the driver's side mirror in order to change lanes.

57 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2004

I have 6,200 miles on my truck. The brakes rotors are defective. I can see cracks in the rear left and the right front rotor. Nissan has turned my rotors once and the trouble is still there. Pulse in the pedal and pulse on stopping the truck. It is in the shop right now for the fourth time for the same thing.

58 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2004

Serious brake vibration problem, started within first 2k miles, continued to get worse. Have had the brakes replaced 4 times in 5 months. Vibration (shaking of the steering wheel gets worse after approx. 2k miles, almost un controlable by 5k miles). I have been told by dealer on every repair that this probably woudn't repair the problem. Nissans consumer affairs has been no help. Filed claim with the bbb auto line on 2-4-05. Day 12 and still no response from Nissan. Serious safety hazard.

59 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2004

While driving consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Vehicle shook uncontrollably. However, consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. Consumer informed the mechanic that the problem recurred. Drove the vehicle to the dealer again, and mechanic maintained that the brake pads and rotors were not manufactured to comply with this vehicle.

60 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2004

At 4345 miles, brake rotors overheating due to non-full-release of calipers causing rotor warp, jerking in steering wheel, damage and overheating of tires, loss of control on wet pavement even at slow speeds, damage to steering components due to shaking caused by warped rotors, blue overheating marks on rotors. I returned the Titan to the dealer at 6:30am. , called back at 2:15pm and was told that I would either have to leave the truck at the dealership or pick it up due to non-availability of parts. This was over 2 months back. Still no parts, shake is still consistent when using the brakes at any pressure and speed.

61 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2004

When the brakes are applied the steering wheel shakes violently.

62 Brake Disc Rotor problem

64 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2004

Purchased 2004 Nissan Titan se four door may 23rd for work. I average approximately 3,500 miles per month. The steering wheel started rocking back and forth violently every time I stepped on the brakes after about 4,500 miles. I took it in to the dealer and had the brake disks turned and the pads, bolts, miscellaneous items replaced under warranty. The truck started doing the same thing at 12,000 miles, around September, 2004. This time they replaced the discs, calipers, pads, bolts, everything and made all new again. I drove it and it happened again at 18,000 miles. At this point I was becoming very frustrated and angry at the situation. The Nissan dealer promised me that they had just received the most up to date repair kit from the Nissan factory and that they were being told that this should take care of the problem. The truck was braking fine until I reached 23,000 miles at the end of December, 2004. I spoke to the customer service department at the dealership and lodged a formal complaint. I was asked when was the last time that I had my brakes done and was told that they had a new repair kit since then. I told him that I was told this the last time and yet here I am again with the same problem. I had my brakes done again on Thursday December 30th, 2004. This means that my brakes have been done four times in the past six months since I purchased the vehicle.

65 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2004

When applying the brakes the steering wheel shook violently. The consumer indicated that the brake rotors were defective. The consumer contacted the dealer and parts are being ordered, but have been very slow coming in.

66 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2004

The brakes failed every two weeks. Took vehicle to the dealer for repairs seven times for brake pads and rotors, but the problem recurred.

67 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

I leased a Titan crew le on tax day 2004. At 5000 miles, the front rotors were shot and the steering wheel shook violently upon braking on the freeway. The truck would also pull one direction or another upon braking. The dealership (kayser Nissan) fixed the problem. At 10,000 miles, the same problem. The dealership this time said they couldn't replace the rotors but shaved them down and replaced the sliders. At 15,000 miles, the problem has returned. I've tried another dealership in town with a better reputation for customer service and they haven't been able to get parts for over 3 weeks. In the mean time, my kids have to drive in an unsafe vehicle. I tow nothing with this truck.

68 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

Steering wheel vibration when applying the brakes. The faster the traveling speed and the harder the braking action the more severe the vibration was.

69 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2004

Bought vehicle in March of 2004, replace pads in early may. The rotors then went out June 30. Replace and lasted 3 days before brake pedal went to the floor. Replace master cylinder. Limited slip differential light is now coming on. Stereo does not hold a station. Truck has had new brakes 3 times in 3. 5 months.

70 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2004

Recently purchased 2004 Nissan Titan (January 10th, 04). When the vehicle had 5500 miles on the o. D. I had the front rotors replaced due to warpping. I did not tow anything with this vehicle during the initial 5500 miles. Mainly interstate driving. The vehicle now in the shop with 12113 miles having the rotor replaced again. I believe that there is a defective part manufactured for this vehicle. My driving habits are not such that would cause this much excessive brake rotor warpping. These brakes are not cheap to replace, I think it is unrealistic to advertise a vehicle can tow 9400 lbs and cannot even stop with its own body weight, less any towing. The brake system in my oppinion is under sized or there is a manufacture spec that is not being met. God forbide I actually used this vehicle to tow as advertised. I could not afford to keep decent brakes on it.
