1 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2016

Was coming from daughters game and I made a left turn outta parking lot all of a sudden a hear a noise and then grinding. I inspected brakes and underneath vehicle I noticed fluid all over front diff . I got underneath grabbed my drivers side axle and shook it . It came apart and was coming out of diff. A month earlier I noticed rear diff had oil all over it and oil was leaking out of rear pinion seal and both rear axle seals , due to axle breather failure. I have never went off-roading or beat this truck . I am also experiencing gas shooting back out of my fuel tank filler tube . I have had my vehicle to local dealer 2 or 3 times regarding this issue and it seems as if it's a guessing game . I have spent over 300 bucks there and my problem still exists . Then they guess again and says its something else. I know for sure this vehicle has had a rear end or rear diff already put in with very very low miles , with 1 st owner . I am being told that my last issue with front axle was c clip holding axle in failed and may have ruined my front diff , I traveled no more than 2 miles before I heard noise and I'm looking at a 1900 part not including labor .

2 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2012

Left rear axle seal leaking oil and accumulates on brake rotor cover. If not corrected , could lead to failure of entire drive assembly due to absence of fluid.

3 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2011

Right side axle is leaking fluid to rear disk brake. To fix one side is 2200. After searching on Titan forums, discovered this to be a defect with this truck. This is a truck that had synthetic diff oil and never towed, yet has such major failure so soon? this is a serious safety issue.

4 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

The rear axle seals in my 2004 Nissan Titan 5. 6l se started leaking. The current mileage is 89,000. The seals are extremely hard to find. When replacing the axal seals you also have to replace the spacers and the bearrings. Not only that but the fluid from the leak has got onto the brake pads and rotor. It started leaking terribly in only a matter of a few days.

5 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2011

I noticed a build up of fluid on my driverside break rear rotor and hub. When I took it to the shop, they told me that both rear seals were leaking onto my brakes and hubs. I took it in to get it fixed and was quoted $700. They then noticed that a TSB just came out that said that just the seals cannot be replaced. That they now are required to replace both axles, bearings, seals, etc to fix the problem, and would be $2600. They explained that if I didn't get it fixed my brakes would malfunction because of the of the thick build up of oil, and ultimately, there would be a catastrophic failure of the rear axle because of the fluid loss. Rendering the vehicle useless, or cause of an accident if it happened while driving.

6 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2010

2004 Nissan Titan 55,000 miles. . Rear seal leaking fluid, dealer said it was a poorly made axle and had to be replaced. This is a wide spread problem as I have read complaints on the internet. Cost $822. . . Lost traction on the front wheels yesterday morning during snow storm. Took it to the dealer this morning. Mechanic said we were lucky the wheel didn't come off on the drive there. Lots of Titan owners saying defect on front axle also. . . Truck is still in the shop and they want $1,100 to replace this axle and ground up pinion or something to that effect. We have also had this truck in the shop to fix 3 other safety recalls. Would appreciate any help you can give us. Do not understand why Nissan is not being held responsible for this defect.

7 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the transmission line blew and fluid leaked out. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

8 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

Rear axle seals are leaking on my 2004 Nissan Titan. Rear diff fluid is getting on rear disc brakes, braking inhibited. This is the second time this has happened. First seals were replaced at 48,000 miles, now leaking again at 97,000 miles.

9 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2010

Driver and passenger side rear axel seals leaking causing fluid to get on to brake rotors.

10 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2009

My 2004 Nissan Titan rear diff seals leak and has caused a brake failure. I pulled out of my driveway and was driving down the road when all of a sudden my rear end locks up. It took a few moments to get her going again in reverse. I jacked it up and removed the tires and removed the rotors. The pad on the emergency brake system fail off. It still had plenty of pad left on it. My father looked at it and noticed the fluid leaking from my rear end. He told me that probably caused the failure due to the contamination. Replaced the pad and added some oiled to the rear end. I have researched this issue online and found numerous complaints about this and other brake failures also. There should be a recall for this issue. My exhaust manifold leaks also. I am replacing it too. This is a known issue with the Titans. This may be of more concern with the epa. They have been know to crack.

11 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2009

At 55,000 miles the rear axle seals failed on my 2004 Nissan Titan. The seal failure caused a leak which saturated the rear brake apparatus and reduced its holding ability. I reported this to my local Nissan dealer and it was repaired under warranty. I was told that an upgraded rear axle was installed to address the root cause of the premature seal failure. At 138,000 miles the rear axle seals have failed again despite regular fluid changes, and the rear brake apparatus is once again soiled with gear lube. I believe this constitutes a safety hazard and should be addressed as a recall. The dealer refuses to repair under warranty and states that there is no recall. Based on my research, this is a very widespread failure on the Nissan Titan and there are thousands of other Titan owners in the u. S. With the same problem.

12 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2009

I have a 2004 Nissan Titan, I have had to replace the rear axle seals twice already. (once March 2009 and once about 1. 5 years ago. Warranty covered, but I am getting close to my warranty limit. I know that this is also a safety issue, because the fluid leaks down on your brakes, which is a big factory fault. I was just hoping that someone could help me, and other Titan owners, for the safety and money, out of pocket when warranty is up. Nissan should be held responsible for this and come up with sometype of permanent fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you brian castle.

13 Transmission Fluid Leaking problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2008

Rear seals on my Titan leaked all of the fluid out. I had filled my tires with air several days before and noticed nothing. All of the gear oil was gone.
