7/15/19 3:40 pm rush hour, began entering a state rd to cross both lanes, traffic traveling both directions posted 55 mph moved in a straight line halfway into oncoming traffic, but suddenly could not accelerate. Had to quickly reverse to avoid tbone situation from both sides. Scared me horribly. Backed up more tried again to go forward before attempting to cross but the same thing happened. Engine was revving at high rpms but truck would only move inches at a time in forward motion. So I traveled backwards in reverse the length of the whole street I was on to get back to my driveway and backed up my driveway where I parked and called for a ride from my hvac tech who was meeting me at my church to install much needed ac unit. Only a couple days earlier, I had fluid leaking and took the truck in for repair, the tech informed me the transmission fluid and antifreeze tank had failed. The engine needed to be flushed, the tank, radiator and fluid replaced. He told me it happened all the time with Nissans. I will attach invoice from highly reputable repair shop.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that after inspecting the rear of the vehicle, axle fluid was discovered leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the rear driver side axle seal had ruptured causing the fluid to leak out. The axle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Rear passenger side axle began to leak and fluid went onto brakes.
While doing a liquids check I noticed the coolant resevoir was low. I added distilled water to the radiator and looked underneath to look for a leak. I found coolant leaking from the transmission line at the bottom of the radiator. As I backed into my garage, I heard the coolant reservoir pressurize and start to overflow. The reservoir was filled with tranny fluid. I drained the transmission and found coolant in the transmission. I don't know how many miles I drove the vehicle in this condition but I'm afraid the transmission is damaged and I can't get the coolant completely out of the transmission. I've drained and filled it twice so far and still have signs of coolant. I talked to a local dealer and they recommended that I keep draining and flushing until the tranny fluid comes out the same color as it went in.
Rear axel seal is leaking for the third time, which can compromise the rear brakes with axel fluid. Nissan made the first repair at 30,000 miles under warranty. I paid for parts and made repairs myself the second time. Now at the third I have contacted Nissan consumer affairs, and they have refused, with no explanation, to help with this repair, even though they issued an internal service bulletin in 2010, to replace the complete axel with bearing and seal. So Nissan is aware that they have an issue with the early model Titans. I guess they are waiting for someone to be seriously injured or die before they address this issue.
Got in my truck to go to work today and while turning right out of my driveway the engine revved up and I was going no where. I let off the gas and as the motor rpm came down there was a loud bang and the vehicle jumped forward. Continued down the road about 200ft and turned around. Parked the truck. Checked the fluid. Metal shavings and chunks inside with plenty of fluid. Also noticed a leaking rear wheel seal on the drivers side. This truck only has 78000 miles on it. Absolutely unacceptable Nissan.
Vehicle has only 49k miles on it and had to have the right rear axle seal replaced for the second time. This time out of my pocket as it was out of warranty. Many Titan owners are having this issue. Appears there is no permanent fix for this issue. There should be a recall as if the fluid totally leaked out, I and many others could have a serious accident caused by the rear end failure.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. While driving 25 mph, the contact smelled smoke coming from the vehicle when she drove to the side of the road. After inspection, she noticed that fluid was leaking from the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The current and the failure mileage was 130,762.
Rear axle seals leaking. Diff fluid is getting on the brake rotors, pads, and wheels.
2005 Nissan Titan both rear axle seal are leaking axle fluid.
2005 Titan 4x4 truck. I had a new set of tires put on my truck. The tire shop noticed fluid leaking onto the back plate of the brake on the right rear of my truck. I took it to my mechanic and he said it was gear lube leaking out of the axle seal and contaminated the e-brake and pads for that wheel. He also had to change the bearing because it was pressed on between the seal.
2005 Nissan Titan, rear axle seals are leaking, could spray onto brakes and become a major safety issue. This is a major issue with thousands of Nissan Titans, if you do an internet search on google for Nissan Titan axle seal leak, you will find thousands of people with this problem. If these bad axle seals cause fluid to contact brake rotor, it could cause braking issues or accidents. Nissan has a TSB# ntb10-032 that discusses this problem, but this needs to be a safety recall before someone is killed.
2005 Titan, 36,000 miles rear seal failure, leaking fluid on rear brakes.
The front and rear wheel seals and spacers are faulty and causing fluid to leak out onto the brakes and brake pads. Which could cause fire, braking problems and if unfixed could cause the front/rear end to go out on the truck.
Rt rear axle seal leak, 65k. Safety hazard, fluid leaking on hot surface.
On my 2005 Nissan Titan, both of my rear axle seals failed with only 48,000 miles on the vehicle. The fluid leaks axle lubricant by the rear wheels, which gets onto the rear disk brakes, which makes the rear brakes ineffective, especially when pulling a trailer. Nissan replaced the seals, however the popular belief of the cause of this is a 1-way valve vent that allows the pressure within the axle to escape, but doesn't let air back into the axle. This occurrence causes a vacuum inside the axle, which pulls on the axle seals and causes them to age prematurely.
