1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

The transmission is going out , now the steering column separated from the rack and pinion.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

I was driving on the highway when my Nissan Titan 2005 started shaking while driving on a modern traffic. I suddenly started losing control of the truck and thank god I manage exit the freeway with the speed I manage to control. I pull over to the right and tried to find out what was wrong. My truck didn't want to turn on and I had 1/4 of gas left so it was imposible I needed gas after trying different methods, I walked to the nearest gas station, bought a gallon of gas with its proper fuel container and added to my truck then it turn on. I contacted my nearest Nissan dealer and they fixed 2 recalls that my truck already had but they didn't want to fix my main problem which is the fuel pump. And I read many Nissan Titan 2005 are having this problem, I found the recall number (10v074000) which the dealer I attended didn't want to fix it. It's been a bad experience because I could of crash and it couldn't gone worse due to my gas not been correctly plus I missed work and it's just putting stress on me I need this fix thank you.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2017

I have both left and right rear axle seals requiring replacement due to severe leaking. Dealer estimate at $600. 00. I have read forums regarding this issue and it appears to be just short of a recall? 2005 Nissan Titan 2wd with 84,000 miles on it.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2017

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power while at a stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,000.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2017

I was pulling out of a parking space at work when I heard the first clunk. Then later on that day I was turning to the left it clumped again now when going staight it clunk had and then I drained the oil and gas metal teeth from the spider gear was in the oil. It all started when I was moving at 10mph or les.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2015

The transmission stopped working while driving on highway suddenly; the rpm's revved up accessibly to 3000-4000 without going into gear. After I immediately pulled over I witnessed fluid spewing all over my engine, out on the sides of my vehicle, and under hood.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2015

Real axle seal leak. Nissan does not recommend replacing the seal but says there is a problem with the axle and to replace axle. If Nissan knows the axle is faulty and requires the axle to be replaced instead of just replacing the seal then they should be responsible and pay for the fix under a recall.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

I back out of my driveway, stoped the truck completely, shifted from reverse to drive and as soon as I touched the accelerator pedal I herd a loud pop and then violent grinding. I shifted my truck to 4x4 to pull it off the road where it is still just setting waiting to be repaired.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

I noticed that the transmission oil cooler hoses were leaking oil onto the ground. If hose were to burst, this would cause severe damage or accident. Nissan has a sealed transmission that does not allow you to check transmission oil level. Must be taken to dealer to check level.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2014

Rear end gave out at 5 mph.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

Meineke just informed me 5/23/2014 that I have a cracked manifold on my Nissan, Titan. I've already had the direct fit converter/passenger side replace, (catalytic converter) muffler and tail pipe replaced for 1,379. 00. And this manifold is going to cost about the same. I noticed a lot of folks complaining that their 2004-2005-2006 manifolds cracked?? thanks, scott d.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

Right exhaust manifold crack. Every forum on Titan's complain how the exhaust manifolds crack and leak well before their time and all been under 100k. It tells me Nissan does a poor job making that part and it's a costly job for customers to repair. This should be a recall item.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2013

When I stepped on the brakes to start stopping, it didn't feel like it was grabbing and I really had to stand on the pedal to stop before I hit the car in front of me. When I got home, I looked at all my brakes and found that the rear axle seal on the driver's side was leaking. Grease/oil was all over the rear brakes. I have had the seal replaced 3 times now. This is ridiculous and is a safety hazard. The dealer wants $1800 to do it again!! we need a recall.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

The transmission won't go into the lower gears and it reaves at a high rpm and won't shift. I have seen where there has been a lot of trouble with this transmission due to a coolant that leaks into the transmission. I contacted the local Nissan dealer and he says there is help out there for frontier and some others but the Titan isn't protected. After searching the internet, there are a lot of Titan owners that are having/had this trouble that have the same model as myself.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

My vehicle has problems with the transmission was replaced and then my 3. 6 final driveline rear end gave me problems so far I have spent over 4500. 00 to repair transmission and solve leaks to my vehicle now dealer tells me I need to spend 3000. 00 to fix their defect.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2013

Right and left rear axle seals leaking. Common problem, expensive to fix! I have already replaced left rear seal once at 50,000 miles. Now both are leaking at 77,000 miles!.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

I'd like to know if some sort of recall on the Nissan Titan pick up can be looked into regarding a rear axle seal leak. It appears that many of the vehicle owners are experiencing a similar problem costing consumers nearly $300-$500 in rear/replacement of a $15 seal. Due to the intricate repair, many do it yourselfers are unable to perform this repair. Please advise. Thank you for your time.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Axle seal failure resulting in oil on the inside of both rear wheels and oil soaking rear brakes rendering rear brakes useless.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

Left side rear wheel, axle seal leaking onto brake disc. Diagnosed when I had new tires installed.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2012

While driving my truck home from work,I noticed the sound of the exhaust became progressively louder. I parked the truck for the night. Prior to leaving the next morning I tried to locate the source of the increased noise. However, I noticed after starting the vehicle the noised would decrease. Therefore, I took the truck to my mechanic for diagnosis. He told me that the header on one side is cracked and the other header on the other-side shows signs of stress. Also, he explained this a common issue with the Nissan Titan and I might want to explore my repair option with the local Nissan dealership. However, after discussing this issue with the Nissan dealership, I was told there is no recall for the notorious issue and the cost of the repair is my responsibility. Upon hearing this, I decide I would lodge my complaint about this issue here.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle it started sputtering and ran out of fuel on the highway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated there was a recall NHTSA campaign id number: 10v074000 (fuel system, other: storage: fuel gauge system). The contact mentioned that after having the recall repairs performed, strong fumes continued to emit in and around the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate pass 40 mph. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer in three different occasions within the week to repair the fuel system. The dealer repaired the fuel level sender and the ecm relay. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 89,000.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2012

The vehicle braking began to deteriorate so I checked each wheel, front and back. While inspecting the rear brake pads and rotors I noticed oil on both. Upon further inspection I noticed that the rear axle seal on both sides was leaking oil and it had gotten on the rotors and pads. I replaced both rotors and all pads on the rear, and inspected the rear axle vent which I found plugged. I installed a new vent but the rear axle seals are still leaking and need to be replaced. In doing research on the problem I found it to be common on this vehicle.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2012

Started having over heating issues in 8/2012. Eventually had radiator completely replaced in 2/14. Had transmission flushed around same time. On 3/26/14, I was on the interstate going 65mph when I lost use of the transmission, causing the engine to stall, barely avoiding a serious accident. Today found out there is a defect with Nissan radiators over heating and causing coolant to leak into the transmission, deteriorating the gears over time. Spent around $1,000. 00 getting the radiator replaced unaware of this factory defect. Now I am without a functioning vehicle and I think lucky to be alive.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2012

Rear right axle seal began to leak on 5/14/12 was about to get fixed -kept diff full- (second time happened). . . On 7/27/12 rear spider gears broke causing the right rear wheel to drag across the pavement in a parking lot. This has been a common occurrence with 04-07 offroad Titans with the locking rear diff. If this failure happened on the highway and the rear wheels were to have stopped moving it could have caused a crash. Nissan has since redesigned the rear end but this should be a recall for safety concerns.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2012

Was leaving a parking lot and when turning to the left felt a bump like something had been run over. Drove home and felt bump several more times when turning left only. Removed fill plug and saw pieces on metal on drain plug magnet. Had vehicle towed to dealer and was told axle had failed and needed to be replaced. Vehicle gave no warning signs and had all scheduled service done.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2012

My truck had a whine that sounded like brakes squealing. I had the Nissan dealership check it out at my last service and the told me that the rear brakes would need to be replaced soon. So a few months later my truck suddenly began to pop and lunge when turning so I brought it in same day. $3,600. 00 later I had a new rear end because the other one just "failed". Really? no warranty, no nothing from Nissan. Checking this site (and others) this is a huge problem with Titans. Since this is a (dot) gov. Site how about doing something about this!.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2012

I looked outside and had a puddle of oil under the front of my truck. Got the truck to a mechanic and he informed me that the front axle popped out of place. This truck is stock, no lifts and never goes off road. So this happened under normal driving conditions. A front axle should not just pop out of place. I just got it back from replacing the rear axle and seals as both were leaking. Also the rear shackles on the vehicle rotted out. This vehicle has way too many problems for Nissan not to be recalling and fixing these issues.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2012

I started to feel a thud in the rear axle as I turned the vehicle. If felt like the axle was binding up. Ultimately, I took it to Nissan who said they could replace the axle for $3000. Since this was way to expensive for a know defect, I had the locker replaced at four wheel parts. It cost nearly $2500 when all said and done.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2012

As my husband just got off the interstate the rear end completely blew out, parts went everywhere. Wheels locked up. A gentleman that was walking brought me some parts that shot across the street. Thank god I was off the interstate where the speed limit is 70 mph, the ending to this story would be more tragic. Long story short, it was the entire rear end. Looks like I am looking at a $2,000 repair that evidently Nissan knows all about with the complaints and it is crazy they have not done a thing about it. I know and understand that things happen to vehicles, but we had no warning of what just took place.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2012

2005 Nissan Titan se - right rear axle seal leaking onto brakes. 80,000 miles on truck.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2012

It stop working for no reason . I was on a icy road the 4x4 light said that the truck was in 4wheel drive an it wasn,t . That cause a near acident! I got online and I see that this is a on going problem should be a recall.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2011

Failed rear end causing complete loss of power. I had two children in the car and the explosion scared them to say the least.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2011

2005 Nissan Titan king cab 2x4 leaking oil from both side of the axle. Problem axle seak failure. Upon taking the truck into the dealership for checkup and they quoted me for about $1700. 00 in repairs. As per there TSB they will replace both axle seals and axle "TSB ntb10-032" if the seals fail on most of the Titan's shouldn't Nissan do a recall on this plus when I was there the service man stated that there TSB says to replace both axle which drives up the cost instead of just replacing the axle seal.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

I have noticed that my rear axle seal is leaking and have been looking into it and everything I have come across says to report it with NHTSA and with the couple of cars I have had for a long time and one was a yr 1979 I have never seen the rear axle leak and they had more miles on them I don't know what is so different between those cars and this one. Thank you for your time.

35 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2011

Backing into parking spot, heard loud clunk from rear end, drove throughout day and it got worse when turning or accelerating both forward and reverse. Various speeds it occurs, highway, driveway, it does not differ. Diagnosed, needs rear axle replacement. Garage approximately 2 grand, Nissan about 4 grand.
