Air Bag Problems of Nissan Titan - part 2

Traveling at 25-30 mph on a dry, grass covered road, applied the brakes to slow down, no braking occurred; I then pushed on the brakes as hard as I could, I felt the abs pulsating, began to hear a "clunking" sound and feel a clicking in my brake pedal matching the timing of the clunking sound. Since the brakes were not responding I then turned the wheel to the left attempting to turn the truck, it did not respond; I then turned the steering wheel to the right, no response. The truck continued straight into a tree, head on collision. Not watching the speed I assume I was doing 20-25mph when the truck hit the tree, no airbags deployed. After the collision, when preparing for the tow, it was observed the drive shaft was disconnected at mid-way of the truck, not snapped, just off. This seemed a strange result with a head-on collision; the tow driver made the same observation.

Dashboard light shows air bag issue. Harnass was replaced twice under warranty, they now want $800. To fix. As its been a safety issue and fixed twice I don't think I should have to pay for this.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Nissan Titan. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v268000(seat belts) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Sutherlin Nissan of fort pierce 4815 us-1, fort pierce, FL was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue and were not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Kh.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that they would have to contact some dealers to see if parts were available. The contact had not experienced a failure. I have had this truck since Jan 2017. I have only 10,000 miles on it and I have brought the trunk in to the dealership twice and I'm about to head in for a third time regarding the airbag indication light. The dealership just resets the computer system and as I drive off I had re appeared and the last time it took a few days but it keeps reappearing. I do not know if the airbag will deploy if I'm in an accident.

Takata recall . A recall has been noted ffor this matter. I took my truck to the dealer the day after I found out through media. The dealer informed me they could not complete the recall due to a system issue with my truck not allowing the upload of data. The dealer stated to complete the recall I would need to purchase a $900 unit to allow my truck to upload the data required. I am furious that due to a recall, I need to pay $900 to complete the process. There are no aftermarket parts on my truck so everything is factory issued.

Had a recall on the 2004-2006 air bags and took Titan in to university Nissan in florence, al. Was informed that the recall could not be completed on some of the 2004-2006 Titans and they would contact Nissan to get a solution. After several months of waiting I contacted Nissan USA and then university Nissan tried again to reprogram the airbags but it still would not take. Now I have found out that Nissan has suspended the recall until such time that they can produce a program to fix this recall. I know, other owners are having same problem and now what can be done ? if air bags decide to go off on my vehicle, who is responsible for safety of my family and the repairs to fix if the air bags deploy for no reason ? I need my vehicle and cannot park until they decide to fix their mistake. I need some help in getting this recall taken care of. If you cannot help then where do I turn for help. Emmett jones.

Clock spring in steering column is faulty. Air bags do not work. This is very common among Nissan Titan owners.

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the seat belts and air bags failed to operate properly. When the contact fastened the driver's seat belt to the harness, the message "seat belt, air bags" immediately flashed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that the fuel tank failed on more than one occasion. Upon filling the fuel tank halfway, fuel spilled onto the ground. It took the contact approximately five minutes or more to fill the fuel tank halfway. The contact stated that a recall letter was received for the fuel tank; however, a VIN search showed that there were no recalls associated with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided the contact with case numbers: 28501379 and 32622188. The manufacturer also provided the option of a vehicle trade-in. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My 2007 Nissan Titan was parked for 2 days , at 5:30 am August 12, 2014 I heard the trucks horn sounding off with just a constant blast . I went out to investigate an notice the wind shield shattered and my keyless remote would not turn off the horn . I opened drive side door , black dense smoke filled the cab and the center of the dash had a large hole and the temperature inside the cab was intense , but no flames . I sprayed down the area with my extinguisher ,horn still engaged I disconnected battery. Items that were stored in a top c ompartment 0f the dash , ended up on the driverside seat tells me that some kind of explosion occurred , not just electrical and the items were not burnt . All wiring , blowers , everything in and around the dash was destroyed ,and still do not know the cause . I had to have all replaced . Reminder truck not used for two days.

I was driving west bound 55 mph with right of way. Other driver pulled out in front of me heading north. I hit his passenger side. Totaled my Titan. No airbag deployment. I sustained upper body injuries due to no airbag support.

While driving down a dirt road my side curtain airbags deployed causing me to swerve into a ditch. I contacted Nissan of north America and they suggested I take the truck to the local Nissan dealership and when I took it there and told them what happened and they told me they were probably not going to cover it since I purchased the truck used and they asked what other actions I was going to pursue and I said I was going to contact a lawyer and they were very adamant about me not contacting a lawyer which I considered to be a red flag. After doing research I noticed I am not the only Nissan Titan owner this has happened to and do not feel I should have to file a claim with my insurance company and pay my deductible or shop fees because I do not consider this to be my fault and feel that this is a very big safety issue especially since my wife drives this truck and we haul our niece and nephew in the truck when we have them and had this happened on our freeway at 75mph things could have been a lot worse.

The vehicle was repaired. Two years later, the failure occurred a second time while driving 60 mph in the rain. The vehicle became airborne and flipped over, but none of the air bags deployed. A police report was again filed and no major injuries were reported. The vehicle was declared destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 500 and the current mileage was unknown. The VIN was unavailable.
