The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that after unbuckling her front driver side seat belt and standing outside of the vehicle, she reached over to grab her purse. The contact seatbelt had not fully retracted as she reached over for the purse and as a result, the seat belt's latch plate hit the contact in her abdomen. After the failure occurred, the seat belt no longer fastened. The contact sustained pain to the abdomen for a couple days and sought medical treatment at an urgent care facility. The contact was informed by a doctor that she had suffered a hematoma to her abdomen and was informed that the soreness would last approximately 4-6 weeks. The contact initially reached out to her auto insurance who then referred her to a dealer or the manufacturer. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where she was informed that there were no recalls and was given an estimate for the repair. The contact then reached out to an independent mechanic who linked the contact's failure to NHTSA campaign number: 06v459000 (electrical system). The contact then brought a print out of the recall campaign to another dealer where she was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The vehicle has recurring starting issues. The battery frequently becomes weak or completely unable to start, sometimes without warning. The issue occurs intermittently and appears electrical in nature. The vehicle may require jump starts or fails to start after sitting or after driving. This raises concern for an electrical or charging system defect. Battery has been replaced 4 times in the past 5 years. Jumped and charged numerous times in between.

Don't really know the truck was running fine doing great and then all of a sudden started acting up they run a diagnostic on it and said it was the emc was bad and I don't understand why because everything was fine on it.
I was in need of medical attention and could not move. The vehicle vehicles, sos system was unresponsive and ineffective due to the microphone, not working while trying to communicate with the emergency services they were unable to hear me subsequently ending the call under the impression the call was made accidentally. In other cases, this malfunction could mean the difference between life or death.
Worst dealership my husband and I ever dealt with. We purchased a 2019 Nissan xd Titan diesel with warranty. Two days after purchase, the check engine light came on. I called spencer from the service department to let them know. They took the truck the very next day; it was some issue with the gas tank, so the part was back-ordered. After getting that fixed, the check engine light still never went off. I questioned the dealership; all they could say was it was probably a dirty sensor. Then, not even two weeks later, I was leaving a doctor's appointment on the interstate when it threw up a code for low coolant, saying it was about to go into limp mode. So, I made it to the dealership's service station. They said it was okay and couldn't find anything wrong with it, then told me to just keep driving it until it broke down or delete it if it was them. They said, 'you know, we don't deal with a lot of diesel, so it may need to go to another dealership. ' then, two months went by, and we had more issues. We ended up back at the dealership to find out that it now had an oil leak that was quoted to us as a $14,000 job for parts and labor. We also had extended warranty and powertrain, but spencer failed to file the warranty claim correctly the first time and filed under the wrong warranty, so they denied it. We had to call management to get them to check why, and the problem was that the service department didn't know how to file the correct warranty claim. After that was submitted, my husband asked spencer directly and the service department if they did rentals through our warranty. They said they don't give rentals at that dealership. Note that we found out later through our warranty that they did pay, but we weren't given that chance. After picking up the vehicle, the check engine light was still on !!! there’s so much more details to the story!!!!!.

I am filing this complaint due to persistent and repeated failures of the vehicle’s head unit infotainment system and rear backup camera, and mirror controls on my 2021 Nissan Titan. These failures have occurred multiple times despite repairs covered under an extended warranty. The issues severely impair vehicle safety and usability. The infotainment head unit screen is completely black and unresponsive. The rear backup camera fails to activate when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, eliminating a federally mandated safety feature. During the first failure, the mirror adjustment controls stopped functioning simultaneously with the infotainment failure. Steering wheel audio controls do not activate or change the issue. Although my phone shows as connected to carplay when plugged into the vehicle, no display or control function during the failure. These failures have recurred three times, the 2nd time immediately after the first repair. Despite replacing the head unit on the 2nd attempt, it is in for a third time. In total, the truck has been out of service for nearly a month due to these electrical issues. The problem points to a systemic electrical or communication fault affecting multiple vehicle systems. The loss of the backup camera constitutes a significant safety hazard. The vehicle is currently unusable in its full potential in this condition. Repairs have been conducted under an extended warranty with zurich, including previous head unit replacements. The dealer has performed extensive diagnostics. Electrical grounds, wiring harnesses, and control modules are suspected to be involved. Despite these efforts, the issue persists, significantly impacting vehicle safety and operation. The inability to use the backup camera compromises safety while reversing. The loss of infotainment and steering wheel controls reduces driving convenience and distracts from safe operation. Extended repair downtime affects my ability to use the vehicle reliably. Please advise.

Truck died driving at highway speed, towed vehicle to Nissan dealership, and was quoted at or above 30 thousand dollars in repairs related the dreaded cp4 fuel pump system that has failed on the truck that only had 134,000 miles.
Dear sir/madam masked oil pressure warning in 2016 Nissan Titan xd (5. 0l) I am writing to report a concerning and potentially dangerous defect observed in a 2016 Nissan Titan xd equipped with the 5. 0l cummins v8 diesel engine. As a Nissan master technician with extensive experience in vehicle diagnostics and repair, I believe this specific defect could be a contributing factor to the well-documented crankshaft breaking condition prevalent in these vehicles, which NHTSA is currently investigating. The specific issue I have identified and thoroughly documented on my own 2016 Nissan Titan xd is as follows: observed defect: the engine oil pressure gauge consistently reads "normal" (approximately 1/2 scale) at all times, including with the key on, engine off (koeo). Crucially, the corresponding oil pressure warning light does not illuminate during the normal key on, engine off bulb check or at any other time, despite the engine not running. Diagnostic findings (summary): preliminary diagnostics, including unplugging the oil pressure sensor, indicate a likely fault with the oil pressure sending unit itself, causing it to send a false "normal pressure" signal. This specific sensor defect fundamentally compromises the vehicle's critical oil pressure monitoring system. ( the engine is running ok, no other symptoms) potential safety implications and link to crankshaft failure: this defect creates an immediate and severe safety risk because it completely masks any actual low oil pressure condition that the engine may develop. Documentation: I have well-documented photographic evidence of the current occurrence described condition (gauge reading, non-illuminated warning light koeo) which I can provide upon request to support this report. I urge the ntsb to include this specific oil pressure sensor/warning system defect in its ongoing investigation into the 2016 Nissan Titan xd 5. 0l cummins engine failures sincerely, [xxx] Nissan master technician ase-1104-7529 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.

Nhtsa I own a 2021 Nissan Titan. I am deeply concerned that I have defective air bags. I have had 2 collisions in my vehicle at high rates of speed and none deployed either time. I now fear that this vehicle will not protect me in the unfortunate case of another collision. I do understand they will not deploy under every condition, but I do expect additional protection outside of a seatbelt in a collision at a high rate of speed. In the first collision, I was going 45 mph. I had injuries to my neck and back. I had extensive work done to the suspension, drivers door, headlight, fender, bumper, grill, and the hood. In my second collision, a deer ran into my truck while I was traveling at 70 mph. The head of the deer damaged the headlight and wiring harness, the bumper, grill, and hood and its body heavily damaged my passenger front door and fender. My passenger rear door also had some damage. No injuries occurred but the impacts should have caused a deployment. I am aware that there was a recall on 2021 & 2024 Titans about the air bags having a delayed or failed deployment however I received no letter from this, neither is this in any of my printed service records. I would like Nissan to inspect my air bag system to see if there’s a defect that is causing them not to deploy or to make sure that my Titan was not missed in the group of trucks that had this defect, that way the recall can be extended to more 2021 Titans. I am in fear to drive this truck due to the fact that it may not protect me in the case of another accident. I am ready to purchase another Titan and have been loyal to the Nissan brand after owning 4 altimas, 1 armada, and soon to be 2 Titans.
I am experiencing engine stalling. I have also experienced dome light flickers or not turning on on occasion along with radio and phone charge connection not always working, like a short of some sort. Also the mirror button allowing the driver and passenger side mirrors to open close sometimes fails as if wiring is ok sometimes and other times not there is not an exact date for the issues as they have occurred on and off since 2019 I did take the truck into Nissan 11/2023 as the radio blacked out and would not turn on. I was told the main harness had a shorted out wire and a jumper wire should be installed. Nissan installed a jumper wire for the radio. Occasional flickering lights, charging connections, mirror operations, and engine stalling still remained.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to shut off as needed. The contact stated that the message "see owner’s manual" was displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the owner’s manual suggested that the ignition button should be placed in the off position for 10-seconds. The contact stated that the suggestion failed to work, and the contact waited until the vehicle ran out of fuel. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The dealer informed the contact that water from a drain tube had leaked onto the power control module and caused a short circuit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,878.
Received a recall for my vehicle. Recall was pd128. Took vehicle to dealer to have recall serviced on vehicle which was for a pm sensor and reprogram the emissions control module. After recall, def system error code and reduce speed to 5mph showed up on truck. Went back to dealer to explain issue after the recall. They ran codes and thought it could be the dpf filter or egr without thinking the recall could be to blame. Went to another mechanic and did a def system check and found no issue with system but a miscommunication with the nox sensor. Had nox sensor replaced and a week later had same def system error come on but was more intermittent and would clear on its own. Checked codes and found said miscommunication with the same nox sensor that was replaced. Went back to the original dealer to explain the issue and believe it was due to the recall reprogram. They did a diagnostic and spoke with their own techs and said their campaign recall repair revealed a concern that was present before but did not have detection sensor or the logic to determine the issue and recommends doc/dof to to replaced. Contacted Nissan about the issue and if replacement would be covered due to it being tied to the recall and was told no that it is just a coincidence even though their campaign revealed there was an issue with the recall.
Purchased a used 2017 Nissan Titan xd pro-4x 5. 0l diesel on 3/8/25. Left the dealership and only made it ~10 miles down the road before the check engine light came on and there was a loud knocking noise. Immediately turned around and went back to the dealership. After diagnosing it I was told it was a fuel injector and that they were replacing it. Received the truck back ~3/20/25. This truck is not my daily driver but the few times I have attempted to drive it the check engine light keeps coming on and I'm getting a message about the regen. On 5/28/25 I had the truck towed to my local Nissan dealership. They diagnosed it and although there is still a code for the same injector coming up they said the issue is the wiring harness and quoted me $7000 to repair and it's not covered under my powertrain warranty. After research it seems like this is a common issue in 2017-2019 Nissan Titan 5. 0l diesel trucks which will cause the crankshaft to break if not fixed. I am super frustrated that after less than 3 months of ownership I have an undrivable truck requiring thousands of dollars in repairs.
Alternator harness is defective in my 2019 Nissan Titan. My truck has stalled on me twice while running and my air conditioner compressor has stopped working and radio is not working properly, and it is draining my battery, there is a delay when starting my vehicle as if it does not have enough power. I replaced the air conditioner compressor and vehicle battery. After replacing the air conditioner compressor it stopped working after two weeks. I can hear the air conditioner struggling when it is turn on, my radio and back up camera stop working all of sudden as if it is not getting enough power, then it will start working again. Radio turns on and off by itself. My vehicle omits a burnt smell from the engine. A research of the issues with my vehicle I located a recall with similar issues (19v495000) that affected 2017-2019 Nissan Titans.
While driving my car would almost stall on the highway, if I gave it gas while merging onto the highway it doesn't respond and then almost stall, but then respond after 2 seconds when it was not as clear to merge on the highway. I have had to replace the battery twice and been stranded in the last 3 years, the engine would pretend to start but not kick over. I have seen that this is a common problem when looking into Nissan Titan forums.
This car becomes completely undriveable due to an unspecified def error. The error it turns out seems to be tied to an electrical wiring harness which costs about 8000$ dollars to repair btw and seems to be chronic due to a design flaw on all the Titan xds. It becomes damaged by water due to a design flaw in the tail light oddly enough. Look at the Nissan forum for more info. The issues I'm experiencing with this vehicle is delayed pedal response and a whole slew of transmission problems. There are no codes or check engine lights on. When coming to a stop and the vehicle downshifts you can visibly see the rpms go up with each down shift and sometimes the downshift is so harsh going to 1st gear that it feels like another vehicle has bumped me from behind causing the truck to jerk forward and make a clunking sound. There is also a problem when upshifting where the rpms will jump up before shifting into the next gear. I had a situation where I was turning left on a green light with traffic coming and had plenty of time to make it but when I rolled out into the intersection and hit the gas nothing happened for over 2 seconds. The rpms didn't move and when I pressed the gas harder the vehicle went into a low gear and the rpms shot up to about 5000 rpms and accelerated rapidly to just miss an incoming vehicle. Vehicle has inconsistent shifting where it shifts ok one day and other days it acts erratically. I have been to two different dealerships and both say the truck drives as designed. I have had all the software updates done on this truck that were supposed to correct these issues but they have not helped. I opened up a case with Nissan support and they admitted these transmission problems were being addressed by their engineering team and a new software update would be available some point in the future, this was a year ago.

Vehicle hesitates at acceleration. Also known as dead pedal. Going through an intersection, hit the gas pedal and nothing for 2-3 zeconds.
2016 Nissan Titan xd faulty number 8 injector this is the third time the trucks been to Nissan for this issue the truck will drive fine then drops speed and starts to surge with knocking in the motor with service light making it a danger on the highway the truck is currently at Nissan and it's been there going on a month.
Ecm pd128my16-17 Nissan has no cure.
The truck will deplete batteries within weeks of installation.
The vehicle has loss of power and goes into limp mode unexpectedly. It has done this numerous times on the interstate and regular roads. It is a safety hazard. This has occurred on several dates and we were lucky to be able to pull over safely. We we traveling in georgia last month and Nissan didn't even have a qualified diesel tech with 3 hours of where we were. We have had ten of thousands of dollars of work to the truck and it still is not fixed. They replaced the computer screen, wiring harness, and I believe parts of the exhaust system. They had the truck for months.
The alternator wiring harness per recall bulletin ntb19-053 has has failed multiple times impacting starting and leaving driver stranded, shuttering while being driven, locking mechanism and other electrical components working intermittingly. Vehicle was purchased used from a dealership with 17,000 miles and shortly afterwards 1st episode of not starting occurred but then worked for about 8 months, assumed it was bad gas. In 2019 Nissan advised they inspected the harness but never informed about inspection nor recall. Over the past few years the problem one come and go and once twice I replaced the battery. Took the vehicle in to Nissan may of 2024 and they advised an alternator was needed but they did not have the part and could not get the part in a reasonable time frame. I offered to accept and aftermarket part and they did not agree to do so. A local repair center provided aftermarket part with 2 year warrant and also discovered the harness recall and advised this appeared to be the problem and would cost an addition $700 to replace. I returned to Nissan regarding this findings and was told all they had to was inspect it and they did so. Nissan compliance was contacted and after their review they refused to pay for harness removal, even after getting photos showing issues with the alternator harness. Once, the new alternator was installed the same problems returned as originally diagnosed by Nissan I. E. A failing alternator (less that 12 volts). I am seeking to have the original campaign to replace the harness, as a visual inspection of wiring may not lead to observation and what they assume was safe may not in fact been safe at all. In addition the harness replacement, I am requesting a refund as related to the alternator as the one removed was fine and its the wiring harness failing that is creating the problem, based on the symptoms described in the bulletin and those documented by both repair shops. Lastly, it appears vehicle was a buy back Nissan.
Vehicle stalled earlier in the day and displayed service at. Symptoms included loss of power, fluctuating service lights, but no dtc codes. Shortly after powering off and starting vehicle functioned as intended with slight smoke when activating ac. Vehicle stalled again later within the day, experiencing immediate loss of power with smoke emitting from the engine bay sides. Electrical system began to flash indicating malfunctioning with darker smoke indicating flame intensity. Vehicle was coasted to a safe location away from personal property and other vehicles to ensure safety of surrounding area. Fire department was contacted as soon as possible after exiting the vehicle and removing as many personal belongings as possible. Truck was engulfed in flames and was unable to be salvaged. Total loss.
My Titan had no real indicators or trouble codes but failed into limp mode and began to smoke and caught on fire! Nissan refused to investigate as they claimed the 2021 was unaffected but shares the same manufacturer plant and engine harness from the 2020.
As I backed into a parking spot I proceeded to try to switch from drive to reverse to straighten out and the lever went floppy. I am stuck in drive with the emergency brakes engaged. The wires under the column shifter wore at just the right time to what appears would be the clock spring!!.

Traveling home from working nightshift. I fueled up my truck with diesel and started my commute home which is 85 miles to my residence from work. 60 miles into my commute without warning and no alerts my truck suddenly lost power to everything… engine, steering, acceleration, and electrical. Final able to pull off the road with difficulty steering. Came to a stop and everything shuts off. All the warning lights lit up but no exact detail to what caused it. Had it towed to service shop after failure to start and the sound it made trying to start wasn’t normal. Technicians ran my codes and found nothing that could diagnose the problem.
My fuel gauge on my truck does not work properly. When my gauge shows a quarter tank full its completely empty. The reason I know it doesn't is because it died on me in the middle of an intersection and blocked traffic. The gauge still showed a quarter tank of gas. I had it towed to an auto repair shop and they ended up putting a few gallons of fuel in it and then it started. I do see that there is a recall for this exact issue ( campaign # r1010 and NHTSA # 10v-074 )and I would like to have it repaired before any serious accident happens.
I purchased this vehicle in 2022 with 62000 miles on it for $45000, cash first newer vehicle ever paid for in cash, 1st day I drove it, check engine light for turbo failure came on, I normally put 80-100k miles on a vehicle per year, ive owned over 200 diesel vehicles in last 25 years, never have I had one stay in the shop more than driving it. Not only does it stay in the shop, but you have to locate a shop that still has a diesel technician employed. Two turbo actuator replacements, lift pump replacement, 18 shop visits for check engine lights, 5 times in a row at buford GA Nissan, drove away and light came back on before making it home. December 21,2023 my family and I was driving to florida , doing 55mph, no check engine lights, no noises, no warnings, motor shut down in 21 degree weather, side of 285 in tucker georgia for 4 hours waiting for a tow truck, only thing on screen was def error see dealer immediately, $550 to tow vehicle back to my house because closest dealership did not have a diesel tech, spent two months to find a company that would tow my truck 55 miles from gainesville georgia to roswell georgia to regal Nissan, the girl called me and said it needed a starter for $900plus dollars, I laughed and said theres no way in hell a starter caused this motor to die, I informed her that if starter did not work I was not paying, two days later she calls me back up and informs me the motor is locked up, does not know why, but pay them $178 diagnosis fee, and for $1300-$2000 they could tell me exactly what failed, if u read online, trucks like mine fail between 50000-100000 miles with no warning no nothing! I am now stuck with another $330 tow bill to pick vehicle up and store it at my shop and pray that your organization can hold Nissan accountable, Nissans reccomendation was for $30000 to put the exact same unmodified garbage of a motor back in this truck, please somebody hold this company accountable!!!!!! thanks.
There has been multitude of this issue if you search the Titanxd forums. Same thing happens to everyone. Abs, traction control, and the 4wd warning flashes on the dash. After this happens, it changes the characteristics of how the truck drives. Rapid shift, high rpm shifts, which are extremely hard to control on the highway. Also mentioning the abs brake not working. Nissan has been changing out transfer cases because of this. The vehicle is extremely dangerous cause of these issues. I hope this makes headway to Nissan corporate.
The truck's engine died while traveling down the highway around 60 mph. I lost all power and struggled to pull to the side of the road avoiding traffic. There were no warning lights or engine lights before the truck died. There was only a slight vibration and loss of power. Once I stopped on the side of the road smoke started coming out from under the hood. The truck has been maintained well and taken care of and has 59,000 miles on it. I was told by a Nissan mechanic that the motor is locked up because of a broken crank, and they are still trying to see what happened with the electrical wiring that caused the fire. The truck is out of warranty and they informed me that a new motor would cost upwards of $25,000 dollars.
Twice after a rain I've found substantial amount of water leaking from the driver side, left side dashboard near the ebrake peddle and under steering wheel. The inside padding around the frame is soaked. It appears it could be broken windshield seal or leaking sunroof. I also have video.
