The truck down shifted twice and then shut completely off while I was driving down the interstate. I was towed to Nissan in springfield missouri (closest to me) and they could not figure out the issue and charged me $500. I then towed the truck to Nissan of jefferson city, missouri, where I bought it. They inspected the motor and told me it was a complete loss. Metal in the oil pan from internal parts. They quoted me $39k for it to be replaced and I currently owe $30k on the truck. I only had this truck for 10 months when this failure occurred and left me and my family stranded. No check engine lights, odd noises or anything. Nissan has been reluctant to help and from what I've been reading this is a very normal occurrence for these trucks. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to get through this but I don't want it to happen to anyone else, so hopefully NHTSA can sort out this issue. Thank you.

While towing 8,000 lbs, the engine made a horrible knocking sound and then stopped, causing me to lose power and the ability to adequately control my load, placing the traveling public and myself at a grave risk of harm.
We were not told of a recall, however the service department said we requested a check for recall back in 08/2019 when vehicle was taken in for oil change. Our next visit was due to an engine light coming on, nothing was found & removed from dash. The vehicle then had to constantly be jumped, dealership changed battery. Vehicle still had problems starting, dealership changed starter. A month later vehicle still not starting, parking sensor light flashed real fast, dash screen kept showing “no key detected, key system error, lights flickered & radio made a loud popping sound, passenger seat kept going forward/back, up & down, making funny sound under hood, gauges going up & down, wipers going off. Upon charging battery again, moments later won’t start again. I am afraid this all has to do with the recall they had on the alternator harness wiring, but dealer keeps saying there is no recall because there is currently no open recall on the vehicle. Is there anything I can do about this? have been in contact with dealership and Nissan consumer. Nissan consumer informed they are not able to purchase the vehicle back or offer another source of transportation because there is no recall. Vehicle is currently being sent to dealer again…will not start.

Vehicle is terrible. Truck is in the shop every 2-3 months due to engine or electrical issues and constantly causing me hundreds if not thousands of dollars every time. I will never buy a Nissan product ever again.
Good afternoon, my brother was driving my Nissan Titan xd 5. 0 cummins diesel from naples, FL to ft . Lauderdale FL , and the truck was running fine at around 70-80 mph with no issues . As soon as he proceeded to the exit in lauderdale around 60mph, all of a sudden truck flashed all kinds of warning lights came on randomly and motor shut down . Smoke coming from starter and solenoid below the fuse box. He is an engineer for north collier fire and put out the flames immediately . I took the motor in to shop and they found the motor was seized up and burned harness near starter. I went to a few mechanic shops including Nissan and no one could give me a solid answer on what had happed with the truck , besides that it just seized up . No one would take blame. I was trying to do some research on these trucks and found numerous owners had the same problems as me. I hope no one gets hurts further from the malfunction of these vehicle's . My brother was very lucky to get off off the road. Please look into these safety matters and find out who/or what companies should be held responsible. Thank you for your consideration with this matter, austin macdonald.

The problem I am writing about concerns this vehicle and recall #pc773 egi harness. Reference must also be made to Nissan #ntb20-89 dated December 8, 2020. I purchased this vehicle from bates Nissan (5501 east central texas expressway, killeen TX 76543, 254-781-3837) on February 18, 2021 used with 5448 miles. I was told that it had been owned by an employee at the dealership. It is my understanding, as described in ntb20-89, that a Nissan initiated "stop sale" was put into effect in December of 2020. However, bates Nissan failed to complete this recall prior to selling it to me and did not inform me that there was an open recall on this vehicle. On July 22, 2022 I had a Nissan dealer (lebrun Nissan, 396 grant Ave, auburn NY 13021, 315-253-7700) attempt to perform this recall. The technician did not find any evidence of visible damage on or near the transmission power wires oem splice, however step 25's "continuity test" of the transmission power wire failed. I am a highly skilled engineer and have reviewed ntb20-89, and find that the transmission power wire continuity test to battery ground is flawed for the following reasons. 1) the process does not isolate (disconnect all ends) the transmission power wire. Therefore, it quite likely that some dvom's will show continuity to battery ground causing a false positive. 2) since the recall is to determine if this wires insulation has failed, a continuity test is not appropriate since it cannot measure the integrity of the wire insulation. Therefore, this test could also test as a false negative and allow vehicles to return to service with insulation that is still compromised/weak. Instead, an insulation dielectric test should be performed on this wire. Issue #2 is concerning, since vehicle safety may be at risk and is the primary reason I am informing NHTSA. My hope is that NHTSA has technical people that can review ntb20-89 and discuss with Nissan. I have no confidence that Nissan can fix this issue.

The battery and accelerator pedal were replaced however, the dealer declined to repair under NHTSA campaign number: 19v495000 (electrical system) and stated that the harness was tampered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Titan. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v268000 (seat belts) &19v495000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated on January 23, 2023, while her husband was driving 60 mph, he saw fire exiting under the hood. The driver stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park on the side of the road and exit the vehicle. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A fire and police report were filed. The driver stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. The police towed the vehicle to their office since the VIN was not visible. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect. the failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Dashboard lights flicker on and off, radio makes a popping noise when the lights start to flicker. Vehicle has completely stalled while driving down the highway, brakes locked up and then restarted itself within 5-6 seconds. I have video showing proof but it will not allow me to upload.
Noticed electrical burning smell outside the previous day but could not find the source. In the morning found that the front, passenger door had caught fire and smoldered all night long burning to a crisp. Not sure the cause. The truck was last driven on Friday and sat all weekend until the problem was discovered Monday morning. The truck still runs and as far as I can tell everything except the speaker in the door is working and the passenger power seat which was also slightly burnt.

Unknown - while driving my vehicle several warning lights started popping up all at onces the lights on the dash where glitching. Then all the power to my dash an possibly other parts of vehicle lost connection. Vehicle wouldn't even show speed or what gear I was in. While I was driving with 2 small children in the truck. I immediately pulled over. I have since taken my vehicle to a dealership where it's been for a couple weeks. They where unable to give me an exact diagnosis so my warranty won't cover repairs yet. I now have to tow my vehicle 96 miles to a different dealership in hopes of getting it fixed. My 2017 truck will not even start now!!.
I the last 6 months the truck has the tcm replaced after leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Prior to completely going out the two dealers that looked at the truck said there was nothing wrong. The truck has had to be towed in three times to clear the transmission because it thinks it in park. This does not include the multilabel times of having to pulling off the road to shut the truck to reset the transmission. The high pressure fuel pump has gone out then five weeks later the low pressure fuel pump went out. Now a week later the ipdm went out.

Additionally, the contact stated that the warning light would not illuminate on the instrument panel and would only be displayed on the center display that was no longer operating as designed. The contact also stated that the sos button that would allow him to call for assistance in the event of a crash was no longer operable. The contact stated that he was afraid that the removal of at&t 3g service from his vehicle caused a risk to his safety. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as at&t was responsible of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that after reversing in a parking spot with the vehicle idling the vehicle caught fire. Without warning there were no reported injuries. The contact attempted to disconnect the battery however. Detected fire emerging from the passenger side air conditioner vent. The vehicle was towed to local dealer where it diagnosed there was a wire harness failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The investigator's report stated there was excessive water damage at the point of fire. The manufacturer was notified however, the claim was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 44, 600.
The infotainment screen has a very bad glare to it. When backing up and the sun hits it you cant even see the display. While driving and the sun hits the screen the glare is so bad that you cant see anything on the display. My side windows are tinted and that doesn't help. I took it to the dealership and they acknowledged the issue but said there was no resolve for the issue. I have contacted Nissan customer service and they say there is nothing they can do for it. This is a very dangerous problem that can be distracting while you are driving as you will spend too long a time with your eyes off the road to try to see the display. The back up camera is useless when the sun hits the screen which could cause and accident.

1. The engine sub-harness assembly failed; melted, I feel due to the engine heat, because this harness insulation is not heat rated and melted off the wire. 2. The dashboard engine light came on and would not go off. 3. The robbins Nissan dealership I took my truck to in humble, TX. 77338 lied and said this failure was caused by rodent damage; which I know for a fact that my garage is very clean and I've never even seen any signs of rodents. 4. I first noticed a problem approximately in June of 2021 when the dashboard engine light came on and never went off. 5. By this dealership blaming it on rodent damage, this defective harness was not covered by the Nissan north America, inc. Warranty, so I was charged $1,522. 14 for this repair.

I have had to replace my transfer case 2 times, my front drive side hub assembly 2 times in less than 2 years. I have replace front axle and and rear. Now my passenger side leaks out from under the glove box every time it rains into my floor keeping it wet. Just yesterday my transmission went itno limp mode and I know it can be a number of things . I look at the 04 thru 07 Titans and they have a lot of issues like have but haven't listed them all, but the issues iam having are not on recall list for my 2006, but are for the other years??? this is my only vehicle and I can't afford to keep dropping $ into it. Back driver window motor stopped and window fell and broke, manifold ticking is a recall for the 2005, but not my 2006. I could keep going but I am getting so frustrated. I was going down the road at about 45 mhp when it just went into limp mode, so I pulled over turned it off and back on then it would work for about 3 min. Stop do it again to get home. It will go into gear, and the rpm's rev and go up ,but I am not getting very far at all. My trans fluid is good. I have also replaced the throttle position sensor. All fuses are good and codes reset and it still goes limp mode.
Not running, doors closed, doors open random . Radio comes on. Can shift mode (radio station/cd player/ etc) dealer has put on radio tech note. Nothing done. Battery was replaced within first 6 months. Nissan offered 1500 to drop it. . No further action has been done. . They closed my account because I refused to accept theyre cover up, I thought was radio but dont know . . They have witnessed it.
Faulty turbo actuator vehicle would stall stall without check engine light in traffic. I could cycle the key and vehicle would run again no check engine light. It did this at least 4-5 times in traffic and on freeways. Nissan also is not providing support as actuator was on back order for over 6 months. Vehicle stall I f with no warning and cycling key to restart. I replaced it and once had it repaired and vehicle still runs poorly.
Nissan Titan xd diesel trucks have a defective warning system for engine malfunctions the engine icon displayed on the dash in the owners manual do not exist on the diesel model this can cause confusion and possible engine damage I notified Nissan case #42645370 in January of 5 separate places in the owners manuel that had the wrong information they admitted it was wrong but have never notified owners of these diesel trucks of the defect leaving us all to be confused and stranded on the road this can cause a safety issue.
Android auto does not work properly. Music played from devices with android auto cuts in and out. Happens with all devices. Google maps doesn't work sometimes. Screen on head unit becomes unresponsive. Xm radio cuts in and out using android auto.
Nissan connect system constantly resets or reboots, apple carplay works intermittently and radio turns on and off, by itself, constantly, whether car is running or not. Most times the radio comes on by merely approaching the truck with the fob on my person or when simply opening the door. When it comes out on unexpectedly, it startles everyone on board due the very loud volume, and causes the elderly driver to grab the steering wheel tightly and slam the brakes when driving. There's no way to turn it off until it goes off by itself, sometimes as long as 2 minutes. Other times, and with the same scenarios above the radio again on its own, comes on extremely loud with a screeching noise as if current is being discharged from a high voltage capacitor and again startles the driver. Of course, according to legacy Nissan in london, ky, says merely, that there's no recall concerning my complaint.
I was driving my truck a long distance yesterday and was on the interstate when this incident occurred, approximately 2 hours after killing the engine to get fuel. The check engine light came on, I was driving 70 mph at the time. Shortly after, a warning came up on my display stating "engine power degraded". I was on a mountain pass in the middle of nowhere and noticed the throttle was very slow, I couldnt speed up and that was very scary since I was on the interstate. I had to coast to the nearest dealer in aubun wa which was about 25 min away. As soon as I pulled off the interstate to slow down, the error cleared and I regained throttle and power. When I got there to the dealer service dept they said they had no diesel mechanics to look at my truck until 2 weeks and that I should leave it. They also told me they had no loaners, basically telling me to get a cab home. I live in tacoma, over an hour away from auburn. My truck had my dog and all my belongings inside since I just came home from a road trip, cabs were really not an option. I begged them to please just hook up diagnostics and tell me if I can make it home. They said it only showed "low voltage". They cranked my truck and I drove home. Currently it is stuck in the driveway and will not start. It will have to be towed to Nissan in tacoma whenever they can actually find a diesel mechanic. Important to note this occurred after the car wreck I was in that was likely related to throttle not kicking in. Either way, I have no vehicle and Nissan seems to think this is not their problem even though it is under warranty. It has become a safety nightmare and I am afraid to even drive this truck even if it was working.
