I have a Nissan north America recall letter addressed to me for recal 06v-459, which is a airbag light and wiring harness recall on my drivers side. I was charged full price for the recall repair at riverhead nisaan in new york and later found my recall notice and have contacted the dealership and Nissan north America and no quality assistance. My recall letter says I am eligible for reimbursements and to contact the national highway traffic and safety administration. I am doing so because Nissan is not helping me. Riverhead Nissan has my repair in their system. Attached are photos of the recall of importance. Filed was claimed Jan 2021 with Nissan north America. Repair happened couple years ago.

Check engine light came on. Had code checked at closest auto parts store, it was an evap code. Light went out, but took it to dealer to be checked. Nothing could be done because light was off. Other sensor lights came on. . Parking and fuel cap, took back to dealer, gas cap and o ring changed. Dealer said not to worry if lights and sensor warnings came on, that truck was safe to drive, and it was suggested I take pictures each time one came on. A couple days later the engine light and sensor warnings kept coming on. Took it back to dealer, said it was a wiring harness from engine to driver's door. 2-3 weeks later was told the wiring harness was on national back order, which tells me a lot of Titans have had this issue and there have been no recalls. The vehicle was sometimes stationary and sometimes going down the road or highway. . No rhyme or reason for timing of issue.

Coming off a highway at around 50 mph the yellow check engine light came on and the engine started making a "popping" sound and jerking as if misfiring. Connected a code reader to truck and 5 issues were found. Engine codes p0544, p244d, p242d & p242c were listed stating "exhaust gas temp sensor" and "exhaust temp high for dpf" along with code p0204 "number 4 fuel injector circuit open". Had vehicle towed to dealership and the diesel mechanic stated the "graved connector f131 on cylinder #4 was at fault and that the connector "spread terminals were causing poor contact with injector". Stated the engine control harness (wiring harness), needed replacing. Vehicle had only ~62500 miles on it at the time.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the wiring harness failed. The contact was concerned that the driver and passenger frontal seat belts may not operate as intended in the event of a crash. The contact was concerned that the driver and passenger seat belts may retract abnormally and cause extreme tightness. The contact was repairing the vehicle himself. The contact located the wiring harness on the rear passenger door and discovered that it did not have a protective shield. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The approximate failure mileage was 150,447.
Nissan previously issued a recall dealing with the wiring harness issue, #06v459000 to reroute and change the wiring cover. This affects the airbags and the operation of the seat belts, as well as the audio system. The airbag light is flashing and the rear passenger door speaker doesn't work. The recall was just a temporary cover up of the problem. The issue came up again and they refuse to fix it, wanting to charge upwards of $1000 to replace the wiring harnesss, a problem they are already aware of. The recall did not fix the problem, only a temporary cover-up.
The tail pipe on a 2 1/2 year old 2012 Nissan Titan prematurely separated at the flange in front of the rear axle. The reason the flange separated was the poor design. The flange is positioned to hold water, dirt and salt inducing corrosion. Once the flange separates the heat from the exhaust melts the rear main wiring harness in less than 100 miles of driving. The melted harness causes failure to the fuel pump circuit resulting in an engine stall situation at highway speed, which results in loss of power steering, power brake assist and anti lock brakes. The affected portion of the rear harness also controls the stop, turn and tail lamp circuits. The failure and resulting damage to the wiring has potential to create an extremely dangerous driving situation.

Air bag warning light flashing and failed to stop. Took the vehicle to my dealer for repair also gave them my service contract information through allstate cont #; vse002248996 at 87720422242. I was told as well as the dealer that the wiring harness that caused the issue was allowed to be patched and not replaced and furthermore was not a cover item even though electrical is covered in the plan. I explained to them it is against the law to patch and repair the wires as well as to time consuming to locate the 1 wire. The man informed me they do this practice all the time. So how many unsafe vehicles has allstate with the assistance of pablo creek placed in service?.

Tl the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the seat belts and air bags failed to operate properly. When the contact fastened the driver's seat belt to the harness, the message "seat belt, air bags" immediately flashed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that the fuel tank failed on more than one occasion. Upon filling the fuel tank halfway, fuel spilled onto the ground. It took the contact approximately five minutes or more to fill the fuel tank halfway. Courtesy Nissan of tampa (3800 west hillsborough avenue, tampa, florida 33614, (813) 235-0318) diagnosed that the wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that a recall letter was received for the fuel tank; however, a VIN search showed that there were no recalls associated with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided the contact with case numbers: 28501379 and 32622188. The manufacturer also provided the option of a vehicle trade-in. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
During a road trip from FL to NY, I noticed a faint rattle underneath the truck but didn't think much of it. During that trip, I noticed my tailpipe didn't look like it was positioned properly. It was loose! the muffler to tailpipe mounting flange had completely rusted away from, which is apparently a common problem (reference blogs; Titanspot, Titantalk, clubtitan). I threw the tailpipe in the bed and kept driving. Throughout that weekend, the vehicle operated normally without any issues. On our return trip from NY to FL the vdc off, slip and abs lights suddenly came on with about 100 miles left in the trip. The vehicle would not activate cruise control and 4wd wouldn't engage either. Brought truck to the dealership in coral springs, FL for what I thought would be warranty service, considering I had the gold preferred Nissan extended warranty. I was informed that exhaust components were not covered, and since the 'non' covered components caused electrical & sensor failures, they wouldn't warranty any of those components either. The heat damaged the plastic conduit, wires in the harness and the abs wheel speed sensors (and associated wiring). Not to mention, dangerous exhaust gasses can accumulate under the cab & bed of the truck without a proper means of exhaust routing. This is the third Titan I have owned. All 3 (2005, 2006, & 2010) have had the exact same failure at that exhaust flange. This vehicle was the only one that experienced corresponding electrical & sensor failures. Nissan must admit there is a problem with this flange connection design and materials. It is a poor design (when it fails, exhaust gasses are pointed upward at the truck bed and sensitive electrical wiring). For Nissan to ignore this defect is unacceptable. A straight connection, or better flange materials would go a long way in rectifying this recurring problem.

Pulling a trailer when the abs & slip lights came on, then the service engine soon light came on. After getting to the camp site I looked under the truck and found that the wiring harness had burned and melted fusing several wires together. This caused me to have no electric brake control to my trailer. Also some fire damage to the under frame and other parts of vehicle.

The Nissan Titan button on the shift lever that shifts manually, after manual shift is turned on, stopped working. This happened while I was pulling a trailer coming down from the mountains. This left my transmission in 4th gear and was not able to use the compression to help slow me down. I was able to get the truck back into normal automatic mode and I had to ride my breaks down the mountain to a flat area and swap vehicles to tow the trailer. After this incident I found that this issue is very common and is specifically caused by normal use of the vehicle. Meaning using the shift lever to pull the tuck out of park and back into park. This motion starts breaking the wiring on the controller. Nissan stated that there was nothing on record of this being a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated while driving. In addition, the passenger seat belt failed to retract and the rear door speaker failed to function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear door wiring harness needed to be repaired and rounded the correct way. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 06v459000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan titian. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated to the contact that the air conditioning condenser fan had melted the engine wiring harness, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.
2004 Nissan Titan. Consumer writes in regards to faulty wire harness recall notice. The consumer stated the recall remedy failed and was only a temporary fix. The consumer stated the vehicle failed a state inspection, because the air bag light was on. The consumer stated since the fix did not eliminate the potential hazardous condition of the faulty wiring harness installed by the manufacturer, he believed he was entitled to refund of $ 185. 60 when he had to pay for the repairs, that should have previously been made under the recall.

My 2005 Nissan Titan is exhibiting the failures as outlined in Nissan NHTSA recall campaign 06v459000 (electrical system / wiring harness) and NHTSA recall campaign 10v074000 (fuel system / fuel gauge system). After reporting my issues to my local Nissan dealer and Nissan consumer affairs, I was told my VIN was not included in either recall campaign. Nissan consumer affairs finally gave me a case number and told me to have my local Nissan dealer diagnose the truck and provide the written diagnosis and cost estimate to a Nissan consumer affairs specialist. After paying $85 for a diagnosis, the local dealer confirmed in a written diagnosis and estimate, that my truck was experiencing the same failures that the 2 recalls cite and that my truck needed the same remedies as outlined in the recalls. After providing this information to the Nissan consumer affairs specialist, Nissan declined to cover my repairs stating that my VIN was not included, I did not have a complete history of Nissan servicing my vehicle and that my vehicle was outside the limited warranty term. I knew my truck was outside the warranty term, my truck needs to be included in the recall campaign, which has nothing to do with warranty. Nissan is negligent in not including my truck in the recall. I have seen this same complaint from numerous others in my same situation, on this website and other online forums. The recall needs to be expanded as they obviously are not covering all vehicles affected by the failures cited.
Going home from work, while driving every time I put the right turn signal on I noticed the light at the dashboard flashes so weird and then disappear. I made five right turns that night all acting the same thing. The next day I took the truck to the garage and had it checked they found out that the wiring inside the lamp assembly was melted, the wire was tied with plastic string wrap so tight that made the insulation of the wire melts and created a short circuit. The whole inside of the combination lamp assembly rear, rh of my truck was melted. They cut the plastic string wrap and then put some electrical tape on the wires, they have a hard time of putting the lamp assembly back into the truck and until now I did not replace the rh rear combination lamp assembly.
I took my truck in for the service manager at wallace Nissan, kingsport, TN, to find out if they would repair the broken wire in the wiring harness in the rear door, I was told by the service manager and by Nissan consumer affairs office that Nissan would not repair the broken wire, even though the NHTSA had a recall for this problem, Nissan told me that the campaign had ended and they would not do anything about the problem, as I recall in the NHTSA recall the wiring affects the passenger side airbag, which would explain why the passenger side airbag has been flashing continuously for about 3 months, I have been in contact with Nissan consumer affairs office but they have quit answering my emails to them, all I am asking is for Nissan to repair the wiring harness and broken wires on my unsafe vehicle. Recall # 06v459000.
Flange connecting tailpipe to muffler rusted through. Remaining exhaust system in pristine condition and without any type of rust. This disconnect between muffler and tailpipe allowed hot exhaust to melt wiring harness that runs along the entire length of the exhaust system. This damage to the wiring harness resulted in loss to abs, ecm, traction control, fuel pump, fuel pump temp sensor, evap pressure sensor, evap vent control valve, rr abs wheel speed sensor and fuel level sensor.

I was traveling towing a 33 ft camper. Usually tow at about 62 mph. All of a sudden the truck cuts out then turns back on and "bucks". My lights on my dash light up like a color blinking christmas tree. My speedometer goes all the way to 140 mph, my rpms max out, my fuel gauge goes up and down along with the temp gauge. Furthermore all the gauges and warning lights flash or move in no form or fashion. Steering gets stiff along with the brakes because the truck shuts off. I controlled the truck to avoid crashing in between the on and off periods. This happened several times. Thought it was wiring from camper or brake controller. However, over the last few weeks from about mid sept it has progressively gotten worse. Now I can't go out of the driveway before the truck starts acting up. There is a bad accident waiting to happen. In my past experience with Nissan is they are reluctant to say anything is wrong and to fix things. I have had enough go wrong with my truck from brakes, electrical, and rear end unit. Just last weekend 20 oct 12 I took the truck on about a 15 mile round trip and it acted up again. Between July and sept 2012 the truck would start the shut completely off in parked position. It still does that now too. The truck is now parked until I figure what is the problem. I don't have mega bucks to fix it! someone said Nissan has a computer recall but I have not been notified and I contacted a dealer but they have not called back. Its been 3 days now. They said the description I gave them matches the recall??????????.
I received a recall notice (recall 06v-459) from Nissan approximately 4 years ago regarding the wiring harness being defective. The original notice did not mention that it would require service only if the airbag light was on or flashing (which it was not). I brought my vehicle in for the recall (at kelly Nissan of lynnfield MA), not knowing this and they simply taped the wiring harnesses after inspection and recorded the recall serviced on the Nissan Titan and most likely charged Nissan of north America for parts and labor for a harness replacement. At 65,000 miles I started to get the airbag sensor light on my dashboard flashing constantly. I researched the flashing code from the sensor and it turns out to be related to the passenger side wiring harness. As recently as 2 weeks ago I received what I thought was another recall notice from Nissan of north America which clearly stated this time " if the red airbag warning lamp is illuminated - please contact your dealership immediately for repairs" , after scheduling another appointment with the same dealership that did the original recall and bringing the vehicle in they told me that the recall had already been done and the was no other action that could be performed without a charge to me. The vehicle has never been in an accident as I am the original owner. I find it difficult to believe that if a vehicle has a recall and parts are replaced that the same failure will occur with the replaced parts, hence my conclusion that the actual work was never performed only recorded as such against the vehicles (VIN). Any help you could provide would be appreciated. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The wiring harness, in the back door has broken, because of a Nissan engineering problem, both the harness and wires have broken, which according to NHTSA the front passenger side airbag will not deply, resulting in my having an unsafe truck according to NHTSA, I contacted Nissan and was told that the campaign had ended, so they refuse to repair my truck according to the guidelines set by NHTSA. At what point does Nissan decide that they can decide which trucks to repair, I have to wonder how many other unsafe Nissan trucks are on the highways.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated the wiring harness is broken between on the rear driver side door. The dealer was notified of the problem. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 92,450 and the current mileage 92,850.
Rear speakers stopped working. After researching found that the wiring harness was pinched in the door jamb on my king cab rear doors. The wires were cut due to extensive wear and bending.

2008 Titan shift gear not responding, will not allow me to engage to lower gears (1-4). Stays on d only. The gear shifter button will not respond when the button is pressed. According to other Titan owners it appears to be a wiring harness as they have indicated the same problem, the wire breaks due to not enough slack in the wiring harness. Nissan service center stated that they will not honor the transmission warranty since I have 64000k miles on the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the rear cab door wiring harness was exposed and the air bag warning light would illuminate sporadically. The vehicle was diagnosed by a local mechanic who advised that the wires were rubbing and causing friction to the air bag sensor. The manufacturer referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 06v459000 (electrical system) but advised that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage 93,389.
Routing of main rear wiring harness through the right rear wheel well exposes harness to road debris, sand, water, salt, snow, ice, etc. Which degrades the harness prematurely causing and electrical short in the harness. The short in the harness caused the wire insulation to catch fire and melt all electrical insulating material and the harness jacket. The harness short, in-turn shorted out the bcm (body control module) causing the failure of all systems controlled by the bcm (lights, turn signals, brake lights, hazard lights, etc. ).
2004 Nissan Titan the rear wiring harness is routed over the frame rail directly next to the tailpipe causing it to melt in the event of an exhaust leak. This happened to me and now I'm stuck splicing wires together as the local dealer in saint john nb want over $1000. 00 to replace, this problem seem to be a common one among other owners I have talked to and poses a serious fire hazard / potential accident due to complete sudden loss of all power. Nissan canada should be made aware of this (I'm sure they already are) to avoid any legal problems that may arise due to them not recommending an inspection / notice or recall of the rear wiring harness.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the wiring harness fractured on the driver side. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the dealer agreed to repair the failure according to NHTSA campaign id number: 06v459000 (electrical system). The contact was concerned because the recall covered the driver side harness but not the passenger side, which was slowly deteriorating. The dealer would not agree to replace the passenger side harness. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000 and the current mileage was approximately 59,000.
Rear wiring harness melted due to defective exhaust system/heat shields. Brake lights, safety hazards, and signal indicators failed during highway travel.
Design flaw on Nissan Titan due to exhaust leak which will then burn the electrical wiring and the truck will stop all of sudden with lost of power and brakes, which may cause accidents. We were on our way back from camping trip with travel trailer in tow. On interstate 81 near wilkes barre, PA. . . We were going 65 mph and all of a sudden the vehicle engine stopped, we had a lost of power and brakes and had to cripple towards the shoulder and couldn't start the engine again. What caused this failure is the tail pipe came loose due to rust and the heat from the exhaust burned the electrical wiring that was placed alongisde the exhaust causing the engine computer to malfunction. We had to pay $1,300. 00 to get the vehicle repaired not including one night hotel stay and renting a car back home because the part was not available for a few days and having to drive back up to pick up the truck with the travel trailer and bring them all back home. The distance is 156 miles from where it broke down to where we live. I believe there's a design flaw that could be dangerous. This is not the first time it happened, service manager in wilkes barre acknowledged several other Titans with the same problem when there is an exhaust leak as well as our local Nissan service manager acknowledged the same. Nissan should have protected the wiring in the exhaust area with heat shield of some sort. Exhaust leaks over time, it's the nature of the exhaust but it should not require customers to pay $1,300. 00 to get the electrical system repaired. I have reported this to Nissan consumer affairs asking for assisting in the repair cost due to design flaw, they declined assistance indicating that it is my negligence that the tailpipe separated from the muffler. No other cars on the road with a dangling tailpipe needs to have electrical wirings replaced because of that, it's because they don't run the wirings parallel to the exhaust.
While pulling my boat to the lake yesterday at approximately 65 mph on the interstate with my 2004 Titan 4x4 king cab (mileage approximately 78,000), the abs, slip, and vdc lights illuminated. Before I could reach an exit to pull off, the engine shut down. This happened within a matter of less than 3 minutes. I was able to pull to the side of the interstate but the engine would not re-fire. Upon inspection, I noticed smoke pouring from rear passenger wheel well. I got all occupants out of the truck and when I returned seconds later, I spotted a fire coming from the wiring harness just where it goes over the frame rail in the rear passenger wheel well. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher on the boat and was able to put the fire out before causing major damage to the truck, my family or passers-by. I have had the vehicle towed to the dealership to be inspected and they "believe" a new wiring harness will fix the problem although they have "no idea" how a fire could have happened. A "belief" that the problem is fixed is not comforting.
