On 09/07/2010, I took my 2006 Nissan Titan to bill collins Nissan, 4142 bardstown rd. Louisville, ky. 40218 for a safety recall on the fuel tank. Owner notification r1010 10v-074. The tank was removed from the truck and the sending unit was replaced. At the time, the vehicle had 9976 miles on it. On 07/10/2011, approximately ten months later, the vehicle had 10826 mile on it. I had only driven this vehicle 850 miles since the tank was removed. On this date while driving 65 mph, I heard the sound of something that made one tap under the floor board of the truck. The interior of the truck immediately filled with the smell of gasoline. At that moment the engine lost all power. I was forced to pull off onto the shoulder of the road. When we exited the truck, we noticed that there was a large pool of gasoline on the ground that came from the top of the tank. I was unable to locate the problem on my own because of the traffic passing me at seventy plus mph. I assumed the gas line had become disconnected from the tank, because when I tried to restart the engine, it started pumping gasoline from the top of the tank. I called a towing service to have the vehicle towed to a safe location where I could verify the problem safely. The hose line was disconnected from the tank. After reconnecting the line to the tank, the vehicle now runs properly. I feel that the person that did the recall work didn't snap the hose connection onto the tank securly. I was told by the service manager at bill collins Nissan that it would have been impossible for the truck to even have started if the fitting wasn't attached securly, because it was a pressureized system and the computer would not have allowed the enging to start he refused to pay my towing bill of $85. 00, because he said, "you should have had it towed here to the dealership. That way we could have checked to see if it was something we did wrong. " needless to say, we could have been killed because the hose was improperly connected.

Vehicle parked in residential location. Driven at least daily. Fuel line chewed through in multiple locations by small animal. Line is simple plastic and was easily violated. Animal chose no other part to chew. Fault resulted in replacement of entire gas tank and fuel line assembly because they are one part. Fuel line was compromised.

2005 Nissan Titan pickup fuel filler defect causing gas to back up and gush out of fill line whenever I attempt to fill tank with gas. It appears that the flapper that covers the fuel opening has broken off and is blocking the fuel filler line.

With 1/4 tank of gas or less left in fuel tank, gas pours back out when filling from any gas station. Gas pump will click within 10-15 seconds of getting gas and up comes gas from the tank. When a pump clicks, your tank is suppose to be full. But in this situation,it doesn't even come close to being full. It happened to me when it got around 2-3 gallons into the fill up. Other owners of this truck(Nissan Titan '04-'05) have this same problem. Dealer has avoided fixing this issue. This is a safety issue that Nissan must fix. A couple gallons of gas pouring out of this truck at every fill up is dangerous for me and the people around the gas station. I have 2 kids and I hesitate everytime I fill my truck up with them inside. Please investigate and see that Nissan fix this problem. The forum on this is found at "titantalk. Com(gas tank issues)".
