2 Storage Fuel Gauge System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 01/22/2014

I ran out of gas even though the fuel gauge stated I had more than a 1/4 of a tank of fuel left. After researching and discovering NHTSA campaign id # 10v074000 many 2005 Nissan Titans have had the same problem as I encountered. I contacted a local dealership and discussed this with them. After giving them my VIN, they stated there was no recall on my 2005 Nissan Titan for false fuel gauge readings or other issues regarding the fuel system in my vehicle. "recalls are VIN specific and yours is not listed. " well, there is an issue with my vehicle's fuel gauge as well. I would like information how to get my vehicle's VIN added to the list of malfunctioning fuel gauge issues and have it replaced by the dealer as a warranty item, as others have done. This is a huge safety issue as I was traveling on the highway at 75 mph when without notice, I ran out of gas. When my vehicle ran out of gas I was unable to use my brakes, steering was difficult and if there was traffic ahead I would of surly crashed. Thank you.

3 Storage Fuel Gauge System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

My 2005 Nissan Titan is exhibiting the failures as outlined in Nissan NHTSA recall campaign 06v459000 (electrical system / wiring harness) and NHTSA recall campaign 10v074000 (fuel system / fuel gauge system). After reporting my issues to my local Nissan dealer and Nissan consumer affairs, I was told my VIN was not included in either recall campaign. Nissan consumer affairs finally gave me a case number and told me to have my local Nissan dealer diagnose the truck and provide the written diagnosis and cost estimate to a Nissan consumer affairs specialist. After paying $85 for a diagnosis, the local dealer confirmed in a written diagnosis and estimate, that my truck was experiencing the same failures that the 2 recalls cite and that my truck needed the same remedies as outlined in the recalls. After providing this information to the Nissan consumer affairs specialist, Nissan declined to cover my repairs stating that my VIN was not included, I did not have a complete history of Nissan servicing my vehicle and that my vehicle was outside the limited warranty term. I knew my truck was outside the warranty term, my truck needs to be included in the recall campaign, which has nothing to do with warranty. Nissan is negligent in not including my truck in the recall. I have seen this same complaint from numerous others in my same situation, on this website and other online forums. The recall needs to be expanded as they obviously are not covering all vehicles affected by the failures cited.

4 Storage Fuel Gauge System problem of the 2005 Nissan Titan

Failure Date: 12/13/2010

1st incident occurred during rush hour traffic. I was driving around 25mph when my Titan started to stall and then came to a complete stop, was just about rear-end by delivery truck. I was stuck on the street in the middle of traffic for 2 hours before a tow truck was able to come tow truck. I had mechanic look it over and it came out that I had run out of gas, mechanic looked at fuel gauge and it was reading ¼ of tank but would not start. Once couple gallons were added truck started right up. Mechanic stated that fuel gauge is reading wrong, mechanic looked up to see if there was any recalls. There was a recall for the 2005 Nissan Titan for the fuel system not reading correctly. But dealer stated that my VIN number didn't fall into that recall. Mechanic stated it would be over $900 to fix. So I had to tell the mechanic not to fix it. Over the years, I have run out of gas about 3 more times due to the fuel gauge not reading correctly. Last time I ran out of gas my infant son was in truck and was just about side swiped from another vehicle at an intersection. I need to do what needs to be done to get my Nissan Titan added to this recall, I cannot afford to pay this to be fixed. Recall id #68299 ? fuel system, other: storage:fuel gauge system.
