Takata recall (potentially - my notice doesn't say specifically). I received a recall notice early this year that said I would be receiving a second letter by the end of April for replacement parts for the "front passenger air bag inflator". It is now the end of June, and I haven't received the letter. I am currently unable to use my passenger seat due to this. It also seems there is a danger to me continuing to drive the car.

Takata airbags: I have taken my vehicle in twice for the same recall. First time, I was told a temporary part was put in until the permanent one came from the manufacturer (that was earlier this year), then I received a call from this same dealership that the permanent part was in. So I took it back in July for it to be installed and yet, that part has been recalled also. The dealership tells me "they are waiting on the manufacturer for the replacement part that will finally fix this issue with the takata inflator airbag issue. Meanwhile and as I wait, I am putting myself in danger driving the car and those who ride with me. This inflator issue needs to be fixed and soon! I need help getting the proper resolution that will remedy this situation. The manufacturer need to speed up the process and make this a priority to get resolved as I have two Nissan Versa's and both have the same takata inflator issues under the recall. My other car is a 2010 also needing the permanent part to fix it's inflator issue.
2008 Nissan Versa. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair front passenger airbag inflator. The consumer stated the dealership advised the vehicle did not experience the same failure as reported in the recall. The airbag light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired.
Takata recall. Nissan sent a notice months ago saying they would notify us when they had parts on the inflator/airbag repair. Until then we were not to use the passenger front seat. They have not given us one single update! it has been over a year and we have heard nothing! there is no excuse for such customer treatment. I called Nissan today after several transfers and was told that maybe they would have some parts during the first quarter of 2017. Shouldn't our government fine these car companies? where is our congress and senators on these types of safety issues? hiding in the weeds? collecting their fat salaries? they are laying it all off on takata. . . However, takata is one of Nissan's suppliers. Why isn't Nissan held accountable and required to recall the cars and pay the customers for this mess? (btw--this isn't the first safety recall of the Versa).

Takata recall on November 9th I brought my Versa into the dealer and they performed the recall, replacing the passenger airbag. However, some of the things that they said and did made me suspicious that perhaps they did not actually perform the work or replace the old airbag. Sometime in early 2016 I received a letter from Nissan informing me of the passenger airbag recall and telling me not to allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat, and to wait until I got a second letter when the part was available. In early November, I had already been waiting for many months for this second letter from Nissan, but the letter never came and still has not come. So I called my dealer on November 8th to see if perhaps the second letter had been lost in the mail, and if the part was now available. The dealer said yes, the new inflator just came in, and to bring my vehicle in, which I did first thing the next morning. They called an hour later to say they could not find the part. Then they later said they found it. Then they performed the work in about an hour or less. It seemed too fast. As I was driving away, I realized that I only had their word for it that they had actually performed the work. So I called the Nissan headquarters and got to speak to their consumer affairs department. My regional case manager at Nissan consumer affairs investigated by calling my dealer and then called me back. He told me that the dealer said they performed an "interim repair" on my vehicle and that I will be notified when the permanent replacement part becomes available! he said the new airbag that I received was another takata airbag that had never been exposed to humidity. I want to know what airbag is actually in my car now. I had my local mechanic open up the compartment and I photograped the "new" airbag now in my car. I photographed the serial number.

Takata inflators - I received a recall notification sometime during mid summer 2016, for NHTSA recall 16v-349 from Nissan north american inc. I was informed of the defect of the front passenger air bag inflators. The recall notification letter indicated that Nissan was "awaiting parts to remedy the affected vehicles". I was to be sent a second letter when parts were available and arrange to take the vehicle to a Nissan dealer for repairs. During the beginning of September 2016 my vehicle was at the dealer for other repairs and we inquired as to when they thought parts might be available. We were told the were supposed to be available any time and they would have to order them once they were available. Today I contacted Nissan north America at the phone number listed on the original and only recall notice I received. I was told that repairs should already have been made to my vehicle, to contact the dealer and if they were not able to schedule and make repairs to contact them again. I called the dealer, Nissan of mckinney (texas) and was put on hold to see if they could schedule my vehicle for repairs, and came back and immediately scheduled repairs for next week. I find it appalling that a safety recall, which could result in the death of an individual, was so poorly executed by both Nissan north America, who failed to send out the second letter the original notification indicated would be sent, and the dealer who so deftly ignored any responsibility on following through on even contacting us about parts, when we had queried them so recently. We bought the 2007 Versa new and it is still registered in the same names, at the same address and even maintenance and repairs are completed at the same selling dealer. I consider this safety recall campaign a completely failure on the parts of both Nissan north american and mckinney Nissan.

The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v349000 (air bags); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

2007 Nissan Versa. Consumer writes in regards to replacement parts not available to repair front passenger air bag inflator recall notice. Updated 04/12/2017.
I received a letter regarding an "important safety recall" from Nissan. The reason for recall is as stated - "continued exposure to areas with high levels of absolute humidity may cause the front passenger air bag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. " what you should do, as stated in the letter - "once you receive an invitation to repair letter, please contact your Nissan retailer to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, do not allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat. If you remain concerned about the air bag inflator in your vehicle, contact the consumer affairs department at 1-800-647-7261. Well we waited at least 3 weeks with no letter so we called. The parts are not available and won't be until maybe September, they are going to be manufactured. The Versa is very small and the driver is about a foot away from the passenger air bag. This is a terrifying prospect that that air bag may explode. I am afraid to drive my car which I paid $17,000 for in 2008 and I cannot carry passengers. Nissan and the dealer at west hills Nissan in coraopolis, PA refused us a loaner/rental car to drive in the interim. This is unacceptable. Please help. Thank you.
Nissan issued a recall NHTSA recall 16v-349 received by me 7/26/16 wherein they stated that "the front passenger air bag inflator housing could rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. " Nissan further advised "do not allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat", which has caused a lengthy undue hardship on Versa owners. When I called on 8/24/16, diana informed me the part would be in by the end of September or beginning of October. That did not happen. I then called again on 10/28/16, when melodie informed me that the parts would not be in until January 2017. My request for a Nissan rental was refused, which was not right considering the inconvenience I have experienced, not using my car to its fullest capacity and always with the fear of flying fragments should the housing rupture. My call to sheila in the consumer affairs dept. On 11/19/16 yielded the exact result as before- the parts would not be in until January 2016. Nissan needs to complete the necessary repairs as soon as possible or provide the affected owners with car rentals. It is long overdue.
Takata recall 16v-349: doj case number 16-20810, u. S. District court, eastern district of michigan. I see from the plea agreement that u. S. Government received its money, the clerk of court in michigan received its $400. 00. The vehicle manufacturers also received their cut. However, the folks that own affected vehicles that cannot accommodate front passenger until replacement of inflator is made are out of luck. Nothing is being done for them. All we receive is run around; I have not been able to use front passenger seat since being notified by recall notice date 07/25/2016. Perhaps someone in u. S. Government can put another fire under takata's butt to get these replacements produced and get dealers off their duffs to replace the faulty parts. This vehicle must be driven regularly to transport grandchildren.
I received a safety recall notice from Nissan explaining the following: "continued exposure to areas with high levels of absolute humidity may cause the front passenger air bag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. " when I called Nissan in July 2016 they said they would be receiving the parts to fix the problem by either September or October 2016. I called Nissan again on October 17, 2016 they said they will not have the parts until December 2016. I have not received any follow-up notice of any kind and if I had not called Nissan on the 17th of October, they would not have notified me to let me know that the parts will now not be in until December 2016. I would like better communication and more updates from Nissan while this issue is resolved since I now cannot allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat and it is an extreme inconvenience for me since I need to have that seat available for my family.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Versa. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v349000 (air bags) for the frontal passenger inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The dealer scheduled an appointment and, after the vehicle had been at the dealer for an entire day, the contact was informed that the parts were not available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
We received a recall letter for inflator replacement in July 2016. As of January 2017 Nissan states they do not have the parts to remedy the affected vehicles. I have called consumer affairs department with Nissan numerous times and all they can say is the parts are not available. Their letter states if the passenger air bag inflator ruptures, it may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. I am not aware if this is a takata recall, for the letter did not indicate so. This recall letter is now over 6 months old and Nissan still does not have the parts. This is very frustrating. Nissan does not seem to care about the automobiles that they have already sold to their customers.
Takata recall in July 2016, I received a letter from Nissan advising me of the takata passenger airbag recall. Continued exposure to areas with high levels of absolute humidity may cause the front passenger air bag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally. I called in sept - they told me I would get another letter in oct for the fix. I called in Nov - they told me I would get another letter in Dec for the fix. I called in Jan - they told me I would get another letter in Mar for the fix. It's now April 2017, still no fix. I live in south florida with high levels of humidity at times. I can't have anyone in my car, and risk driving my car everyday. It's been 10 months. What is their obligation here?.
I received a safety recall notice some time ago. So I looked it up on internet and it said that Nissan is awaiting parts to remedy the humdity problem in the air bag inflator. Maanufacturer noted to contact Nissan affairs that they failed or unable to remedy safety recall on my vehicle in a timely manner. I never received a second notice to bring in my vehicle, but had to look this information up on my own.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Versa. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v34900 (air bags) for the front passenger side inflator. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall--I received an "interim" notice maybe an entire year ago regarding a recall of my vehicle due to an issue with the passenger air bag. I was told in this notice that I should not allow anyone to ride in the passenger's seat of my car due to a problem with the air bag that may cause its inflator to "rupture or deploy abnormally, resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death. " I was told to wait for an invitation to repair letter, but it has been a very long time and I've heard nothing further from the dealer about this problem or this interim notice. I have to be able to drive my car. Asking me not to allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat for an entire year while waiting on parts is not feasible. If this issue is as serious as was advised in the letter, I think something else should have been done in the interim. Even just communicating the reason for the delays from the manufacturer would be something. Or explaining why turning off the passenger airbag is or is not a good trade-off for keeping it on, and risking that the airbag will deploy improperly and maim occupants of my car. This issue sounds scary and I haven't been provided with much pertinent information from the dealer about it, let alone any potential options aside from waiting and dreading my passenger airbag deploying.
Takata recall: this is third time airbag inflator light goes on. Had recall repaired a yr ago at clermont, FL dealer. After repair was done noticed horn, air conditioner and defrost buttons not working on panel. I immediately pointed it out to dealer. They fixed air conditioner button only, said the other two issues were not there problem. I spoke to warrant dept that day at the dealership to no avail dept. Stated car was out of warranty. If I wanted it fixed I had to pay. Dealership said it was not their problem I had to pay and they would gladly give me an estimate. Horn and other buttons on panel were all working properly until air bag was fixed that day. I called Nissan warranty dept again. Dept said they could not help because it was a dealership issue. I took vehicle to another dealership in leesburg, FL 3 months ago. They stated there was a recall on airbag I did not know about. They fixed problem. 2 months later airbag inflator light goes on again. I went to the Nissan dealer in clermont and they stated there was no recall on file. They would contact me when they recieved information about it. I tried to explain to manager that I spoke to the warranty dept and they stated I needed to bring vehicle in to have this issue fixed right away. Again manager said there was nothing they could do at the time I would have to wait to receive information about recall. I really need help regarding the issues at hand. Horn is not working due to the airbag malfunction. I drive this vehicle everyday and I am very scared sumthing might happen due to these issues and recall.
