When driving at various speeds I began to notice the engine bogging down when changing gears. Upon taking it to my mechanic I was told that there was a leak between the transmission and engine coolant systems. The fix would require a replacement of both systems totally approx. $6000! apparently this is a "known issue" with 2005-2010 Xterras. Upon contacting Nissan I was told that since my vehicle was over 100,000 miles that there was nothing that they could do for me. If this is a known issue, and a rather major one at that, I'm not sure why there hasn't been any recalls or some kind of fix.
Gas gauge has quit working. . . Common problem with these automobiles. . . Why no recall?.
The check engine light went on and per inspection by the Nissan dealer it was due to the fuel lever sender (code p0463). Estimated labor/material will cost me $500. 00.
Fuel level sensor malfunction.
Fuel sending unit has failed. Service engine light has turned on; fuel gauge shows empty; received extended warranty for fuel unit for 72k miles or 6 years. I am at 70k miles but I bought it in 2005 so its past the 6 years. This is such a common failure and should be replaced by the manufacturer via a recall.
While driving, the engine cuts off without warning causing all systems to shut down, including brake assist and power steering causing a near collision twice, once while navigating a curve at low speed with a ditch on the right side and once while navigating a curve at higher speed and nearly coasting into oncoming traffic. The issue is due to a known defect in the radiator causing coolant to spill into the transmission. This is a major safety concern that appears in vehicles without warning in any circumstance at any speed. Please initiate a recall ASAP for our safety!.
Fuel gauge reads empty when not. Also digital mileage is incorrect. Check engine light is on due to this problem. Fuel sensor??.
I have a 200d Xterra that I bought new at the end of 2005. Recently the gas gauge stopped working. I would fillit up than he gas light comes on along with service egine soon. Next day gas gauge reads 3/4 full than never moves. Nissan wants to charge $450 just so happenes my extended warranty ran out 10-15-11 and I have over 72,000 miles on it.
Fuel level sending unit fails with a p0463 stored in self-diagnosis. This is the same as the open recall for 06-08 in TSB ntb07-069b. However mine is an 05 and if you look on the web,,,,,,,this is a common problem with Xterra s from 05-09 not just 06-08. Nissan is not being helpfull, and running out of fuel in the middle of the road is not good, nor is the $500+ dollars they want to fix this!!.
Fuel gauge, fuel sending unit is not working properly.
After my "service engine soon" light was activated, I proceeded to take my Nissan Xterra to the Nissan dealership in hawthorne, CA, to have it checked out. Nissan charged me $129 for a diagnostic test, which found an error code of p0463. That error coded indicated that the fuel level sensor was malfunctioning. I declined to pay $570 to have it repaired. In doing some research on the internet, I found that several Nissan vehicles, especially its trucks and suvs, have suffered from this product defect. I would greatly appreciate it if Nissan rectified the situation by recalling vehicles or covering my charge for repairs.
The fuel level sensor error code is on due to a part failure and this is a known fault that occurs frequently and has safety concerns due to possibility of running our of fuel.
Started hearing a rumble strip sound while on smooth pavement. Vehicle started shifting harder, with slight vibrations. Before I could take it in, I was involved with a hit in run in a parking lot. Nissan said the upper and lower radiator hoses were soaked in transmission fluid. Manager said it had been leaking for some time. He said I needed a new radiator, and transmission cost of 6500. Nissan updated their radiators because they new it was a defective part, but refuse to take care of damage they have caused. . Read more...
The fuel level sensor is not working correctly causing an unsafe fuel indication reading.
Had a p0463 code come up for fuel level sensor a circuit high input. I understand that this is very common on second generation Nissans.
I have a 2005 Xterra with 38k miles, "service engine soon" light came on, took it to the dealership, hooked it up to the computer, diagnosis is a bad fuel sending unit $600. 00 to replace. I'm just over the extended warranty but dealership cannot help. The sending unit and gasket are $200. 00. $400. 00 for labor seems a bit steep. At what point in time will Nissan recall this issue?.
Engine light service soon is on the car is starting to stall. Out of warranty but while researching this is a know issue for Nissan Xterras.
Radiator corrosion leaking fluid into transmission. Replacing radiator and transmission. Replaced vaporizer selonoid and the ipdm unit (voluntary recall) which caused stalling while driving. Fuel sensor replaced. Mandatory recall on the ecm unit. No notification on voluntary or mandatory recalls.
This morning the fuel level sensor on my 2005 Nissan Xterra stopped working as I was driving to work. The dealership wants $500 to fix the sensor which was a known problem and recalled on earlier models of this truck. And is also a common problem for other Xterra owners. Please recall this part. Fuel level sensors last much longer than this is other makes and models of vehicles.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the check engine light would illuminate sporadically and the fuel gage would read inaccurately. The dealer diagnosed that the fuel sending unit was defective and would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but denied any assistance with repair to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 97,000 and the current mileage 98,000. Updated 11/29/11 the consumer stated a recall was issued for his make and model, but not the year, as well as other models. Updated 12/12/11.
Fuel level sensor malfunctioning.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle stalled. The contact noticed that the vehicle ran out of fuel, even though the fuel gauge did not display an empty reading. An authorized dealer was notified and the contact was informed that the fuel sending unit would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000.
I have a Xterra 2005, I have two friends that have the same car, same year. They received from Nissana latter that said, that the fuel gauge was faulty and that they need to ger it fixed, warranty was extended. Mine is not working. Called the dealer, they said I have no warranty, and it seems it is a problem with some Nissan models 2005 and -06.
The fuel gauge is malfunctioning, I completely filled up the vehicle with gas started the engine and it still read empty. It took a couple of days to move up to showing full but now I have a check engine light. I researched this issue and many other Nissan owners are experiencing or have experienced this problem with their vehicle around 50,000 miles. This is an issue Nissan needs to take care of with so many people experiencing the same issue, it is obviously a defect in their manufacturing and is very pricey for the customer to fix!.
I own a 2005 Nissan Xterra. My problem started with the fuel leveling system and my check engine light coming on. It was the fuel leveling sender. My fuel was not registering correctly at all. Next came stalling of my SUV. I would be driving and it would act as if it was running out of gas and cut off. That turn out to be the emc, in which I paid for but was reimburse because Nissan issued a recall for the emc. This did not fix the fuel leveling sender problem. A few months later, my SUV was having a "hard crank". It just did not want to turn over. It would stall while driving. I would just cut off. I took that to a dealership and they said it was the cam sensors. So, I had the cam sensors replaced and I had the fuel level sender replaced. It was recommended that I have a mult-point inspection, so I had everything with that replace. I spent a $1000, only for my check engine light to come back on the next day. I took it back to the dealership for them to tell me now it is the catalyst converters and both needs to be replace. The price for both parts alone was $1300. I do not understand why so many Xterra owners are having these types of problems and Nissan are not responsible for fixing them. They will offer an extended warranty after the fact, but by the time the problem occur a 2005 does not qualify for the extended warranty. The catalyst converters affects the clean air for your vehicle. This is a safety issue.
Fuel gauge is not working, service engine soon is on all the time.
Fuel gauge stays at empty and service engine soon light come on.
2005 Xterra with 60,000, p0463 computer error, which is the fuel level sending unit. (sensor a, circuit high input).
The fuel sending unit failed on my 2005 Nissan Xterra causing me to run out of gas on the highway. I needed to walk approximately 2 miles on highway to contact a tow truck.
P0463 error code fule level sensor.
Fuel gauge went inop at approx 90,000 miles. Nissan had extended the fuel gauge warranty to 72,000 which is ridiculous considering most Xterra's, pathfinders, and frontiers have this problem. This should be a recall, not a warranty extension. This is a safety issue. Running out of gas on the highway is dangerous.
I drive a 2005 Nissan Xterra. The service engine light turned on after I filled my vehicle with gas and the gas gauge read empty.
2005 Nissan Xterra fuel level sensor malfunction. Apparently its extremely common and Nissan isn't doing anything about it.
Service engine light came on and fuel gauge completely unreliable. Fuel gauge would read empty with full fuel and then change to various readings.
