Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer riverside Nissan (8330 indiana Ave, riverside, CA 92504) where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel level sending unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer confirmed that there was no recalls associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Filled up with gas. Drove approx. 5 miles and service engine light came on.
We have recently began to notice the heat - this past winter did not want to blow warm/hot air unless we were stopped in trying to diagnose the problem, we found red/foaming transmission fluid in our radiator-what a surprise after draining and flushing the radiator system and the fact we did not need the heater any further thought we maybe just had a fluke thing happen. Now in driving our Xterra it has all of a sudden developed a transmission problem that endangers anyone who drives it. It starts our running smooth and then out of no where has no movement and then in an instant will lunge. We have been on the interstate and had this scenario happen in traffic - talk about scary when another vehicle all of sudden is in your back window and now on your bumper. . It has caused us to be fearful we were going to be the cause of a major accident more than once. We have a 6 year old that is with us all the time and I can tell you that we are afraid to put him in this vehicle and go anywhere. We are a two income family living from paycheck to paycheck and do not know where or how we are going to get the money for repairs. Nissan denies there is a problem but rest assured, if we are in a wreck because of this issue there will be a lawsuit.
I was filling up the vehicle with gas. Next thing I know the vehicle had the check engine light on. Call Nissan and the stated is a common problem. Since then I have been out of gas twice on the streets due to a unknowing my gas level. At Nissan they stated that is not a hazard which I believe it s when it happen in busy roads or at night.
My fuel sender float does not work. I have to keep track of the miles just to be sure I don't run out of gas on a train track or in the middle of nowhere. There was a recall done for this part for 2001-2008 Nissan Xterras. Mine in an '06, but when I try to get it fixed the dealership and the Nissan manufacturer tell me that the recall doesn't apply to my VIN. Its not fair that some vehicles with the proper VIN that have this problem are allowed to get fixed but not mine with the same problem.
My service engine soon light came on during normal driving. Ran the code through a scangauge computer and returned p0436 which is a fuel level circuit high imput. It is a very common issue that make the fuel gauge read incorrectly and could result in a loss of power in the lane of traffic which make for a dangerous situation.
We brought our Nissan 2006 Xterra in to the boardwalk auto center. Redwood city, CA - Nissan to have them check on what we thought was another transmission issue (Nissan replaced the transmission, at their expense over $8000, once and the fuel gauge twice plus a couple of other recall items). When we picked up the car they told us we needed a new timing chain for about $2000 (we have heard these are not normal items to be replaced and should last the lifetime of the car). We can't believe there is yet another major expensive problem part with this car! when does this car become a lemon and how many major items are going to need to be replaced? what is happening to Nissan? has the timing chain issue been investigated and how many other people are having this problem?.
Error code p0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input.
Service engine soon light has appeared. The code is p0463 which states fuel level sensor circuit high input. Aa1. Open or short circuit condition aa2. Poor electrical connection. Aa3. Faulty fuel level sensor. The more I read about this, the more I find many Xterras having this problem. Funny thing is. . . . . . . . . . Paid it of two weeks ago. : (.
Fuel level indicator failure, ran out of gas in the roadway, check engine light on.
Check engine light on due to error code p0463 (fuel level sensor malfunction). Based on my research this happens to an unusually high number of second generation Nissan Xterra owners.
Defective fuel level sensor, Nissan does cover this under warranty but only up to a 70,000 milage limit. If part is defective it should be replaced regardless of miles. I contacted Nissan directly and was told sorry, over mileage cannot help. This is a safety issue that could endanger occupants with inaccurate fuel amounts, I. E. Un-expectantly run out of fuel in the middle no-where or on the interstate. Does it become less safe with more miles, I would think not. Nissan should be made to make the repairs regardless of miles.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was malfunctioning and displaying improper readings. The fuel gauge would display an empty reading after refueling. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel gauge was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assitance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 82,000.
2006 Nissan Xterra recall id from NHTSA: 10v075000 they said it doesn't apply to my car!? it's on a recall list for my model but they said my VIN is not in there system? wth is going on with Nissan and my VIN not being in their system for a recall. Issue came up engine light on with code p0463, which is what the recall is for.
Nissan Xterra 2006, both front cats have failed. Dealer said due to ethanol a common problem, cost around $2300. Found cats and a mechanic for $1200. After 3 weeks check engine light returned. I am now getting a p0643. Dealer passport Nissan quoted around $700 to fix plus another $350 for belt replacement. None of the other recalls am eligible for due to being out of warranty. Also had to replace front and rear u-joints within a year of each.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. While driving approximately 30 mph all of the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to move the vehicle onto the emergency lane and restarted the vehicle. The dealer replaced the fuel sending unit. The manufacturer advised her that there was an extended warranty for the failure, but it had expired at 72,000 miles. The failure and the current mileage were 107,600.
I have a 2006 Xterra and I have the same problem that alot of people are having. Started off with fuel gauge not reading correct then shortly after the service engine light has been on. I work with someone one else who's 2006 Xterra has the exact same problem. Why should this be something we have to fix. There is obviously something wrong with the 2006 models.
2006 Nissan Xterra---55k, fuel sending unit if bad. Fillup with gas & the gauge doesn't work and the ses light stays on.
Fuel gauge on 2006 Xterra reads empty when it is not. Saw online that many people have this problem and in prior models was a recall and corrected but not models after 2005. Obviously is still a problem and could run out of gas on a busy highway or who knows what could happen with a fuel problem.
Gas gauge does not read correctly and the check engine light is on. The gas gauge is defective and needs to be replaced.
Gas gauge does not read correctly and the "check engine light is now on.
The fuel gauge light and service light came on, showing empty, due to fuel sensor defection on my 2006 Nissan exterra, only 40,000 miles. This cause me confusion and frustration on a long trip. This was existing problem that Nissan ignore to recall for replace. Many Nissan vehicle owner has same problem, and the cost to fix this problem is 500-600 dollars.
1. The vehicle has had a general lack of accuracy in the fuel gauge. 2. Recently, the "service engine soon" indicator came on, and the dealership informed me it was due to a fuel sending unit malfunction. 3. The dealer is currently replacing the fuel sending unit at a cost to me of $595+tax. This vehicle is a 2006 Nissan Xterra, just outside the dom covered in recall 10v-075, with 38,000 miles (just outside warranty).
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel sending unit error/failure.
Two weeks after Nissan dealer did a 60k service in my 2006 Xterra the check engine light popped up while driving and my gas gauge went from full to empty and back in rapid succession while driving, causing major distraction. The odb code for the check engine light is p0463.
Fuel gauge showing wrong amount of gas level due to faulty/defective fuel level sending unit in 2006 Nissan Xterras. Nissan has sent out a recall for 2006 Xterras, but only for certain vehicles within a certain manufacture date within that year. The manufacture dates should be extended since it seems many 2006 Nissan Xterra owners have the same problem, showing that Nissan should take the blame on putting a defective part in their vehicles.
2006 Nissan Xterra - service engine soon light comes on. Checked the light at auto zone and the code is po463 "fuel level sensor a circuit high input". Will cost around $500 to fix - say it's a bad sensor. Gas gauge isn't correct, goes to zero and bounces back up over 50 or so miles. Have researched this and many others have the same issue in their 2006 Xterras.
June 2, 2009 I had to have my 2006 Nissan Xterra to victory Nissan in mechanicsville, va after being told by Nissan's recall representative that my problem has not been classified as a recall. My fuel-line burst and spewed gas in my engine compartment. It cost me $310. 58 to have it replaced. June 7, 2010 the fueline burst in the exact same place, this time spraying me in the face with gasoline when I raised the hood-luckily I was wearing eyeglasses. Again I was told by Nissan recall that there isn't a recall for this problem. The reason escapes me as this is very dangerous both with potential fire and physical injury. Nobody has been hurt so far with this issue. In a separate incident, my fuel gauge that is a known hazard began acting erratically a couple of months ago, and I was told that Xterras with my particular vehicle identification number do not fall under the current recall that Nissan has on this issue. Their reason for the recall is that the fuel gauge could read at 1/4 full but be empty and cause the vehicle to run out of gas in traffic and cause an accident. I guess my car will not run out of gas and cause crashes according to Nissan, right?.
Gas gauge stays on empty. The car only has 47,000 miles on it.
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel gauge/sender failure at 49k miles with engine service light permanently on.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the speedometer and fuel gauge malfunctioned. As a result, she was unable to read neither the speed nor the level of fuel in her vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000. The current mileage was 123,000. Updated 02/27/14.
My 2006 Nissan Xterra's check engine light repeatedly lights up. When I read the error code it is p0463, which indicates a malfunctioning fuel level sensor. I will reset the light and it will illuminate almost immediately. There was no specific reason for failure other than the part is defective. I would not write concerning this issue, except for the fact that it has become so common that there are internet blogs dedicated to the issue. Nissan has issued a recall for the same issue on other similar vehicles like the murano in the same year of production. This defective part needs to be recalled. People rely on their fuel gauges to determine if they have enough gas to make it to their destination and this could possibly leave a motorist stranded in a dangerous or inhospitable situation.
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel level sensor is malfunctioned.
Fuel gauge not working, sudden onset after fueling the vehicle.
Fuel sensor level doesn't work at 50k miles in a 2006 Nissan Xterra. Problem seems to be widespread.
