1. Malfunctioning part that Nissan is fully aware of (issued a recall of fuel sending unit of several SUV's including the Xterra) but others that are having the same issues but not part of the recall campaign are not getting replacements covered by Nissan. 2. Occurs more often than not now; fuel gauge reporting erratic, needle randomly moves, check engine light illuminated. 3. As of right now, a complaint has been filed with Nissan corp, to which they do not respond, or seem to have any intention for replacing or reimbursing those customers who have documented failures as described in the recall campaign. I have not purchased a new unit to this date.
I have 2006 Nissan Xterra that has the "ses" light on constantly. I have changed the gas cap. The light went out but recently came back on, I have 54k miles and now the light will not go out.
Error code p0463 shows I have a faulty fuel sending unit. Previous year Xterras were serviced for this issue. No recall has been issued.
Recently purchased 2006 Nissan Xterra and have experienced the following problem: fuel gauge causing "service engine soon" light to be consistently lit. Inaccurate fuel level being seen. Gauge reads half empty when vehicle is actually empty. Impossible to pass emissions check while "service engine" sensor is lit. Contacted Nissan and they are recalling and replacing fsu in "certain" 2006 Nissan Xterra but even though I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra my VIN number has not been recalled. Spoke to Nissan and described the fact that my 2006 Nissan Xterra is experiencing the problems described in the Nissan recall but they refuse to include my vehicle.
Fuel sending unit on a 2006 Nissan Xterra, malfunction. Same model same year as current recall, but not covered under the current recall notice.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. While driving at speeds of 30 mph, the fuel level indicator began abnormally reading inaccurate fuel levels. The check engine light then illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer advised replacing the fuel sensor. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle has not been repaired as of yet. The approximate failure and current mileages were 35,500. Updated 05/19/2010.
Having problems with 2006 Nissan Xterra fuel sending unit (fsu). The gas gauge shows erratic readings and the service engine soon (ses) light turns on. I pulled the code from local shop and the unit indicates po463 error code. . Read more...
After filling up, the fuel gauge still reads empty and the service engine soon light is on. This problem will correct itself after driving for a few days. However, when a fill up is needed again, same problem persisted. I have only 39k on the vehicle which I purchased new and the dealer is now telling me that the fix is $400 - $600 for a new fuel sensor. The safety complaint I have is that you never know how much fuel you have and the possibility of being stranded is very real. After checking out many online forums, this seems to be a trend with later model Nissan Xterras, frontiers and pathfinders. A recall is badly needed for the fuel level sensor unit.
2006 Nissan Xterra off road, 4x4. Fuel level sensor or sending unit is failed causing the fuel level gauge to read incorrectly, or always read "empty". This could lead to running out of fuel at a dangerous time. I have spoken to many other owners of this vehicle and like vehicles in this range of model years who have had the same problem. Some have had their repairs covered by Nissan others have not.
Fuel sending unit #25060-zzooa for Nissan Xterra faulty, sends incorrect information about fuel levels. Subject to recall on certain VIN#, but many more are affected.
My '06 Nissan Xterra fuel sensor stopped working at 39,000 miles. I also got a check engine light soon that came on. $400 for it to be repaired at the dealership.
Check engine light stays on and gas gauge does not register on 2006 Nissan Xterra. Appears to be defective fuel sensor/sending unit. Apparently, there was issue in past which led to recall on earlier models.
Fuel gauge not functioning properly, service engine soon light constantly on.
6 months ago my 2006 Nissan Xterra service engine light went on and my gas gauge stopped working. I had a diagnostic check done and it is a p0463 code which is the fuel sensor. Nissan wants to charge almost $700 to fix. After researching I found this is happening to thousands of Xterras. I have called Nissan and they admit it is a known issue there is no recall on it.
Took car it because gas gauge (even after filling up) reads empty, took it in and mossy Nissan in el cajon claimed they fixed it, but after having my car for about 3hs after the including checking out or diagnostic testing they gave me my car back and it dong the sane thing.
2006 Nissan Xterra error code: p0463 fuel level sensor a current high input at 55,000 miles the fuel gauge sending unit malfunctions.
The fuel level sensor on many newer Nissan trucks is going bad right after the 36k warranty expires and costs the owner an average of 400 dollars to fix. This issue causes the service engine soon light to come on and consequently cannot pass inspection without being fixed. I've seen many many cases of this online on bulletin boards and forums, and it seems to me this is widespread enough that it should be recalled.
Check engine light came on and my fuel gauge reads zero fuel with a full take.
After filling up my 2006 Nissan Xterra, the low fuel light came on and the needle on empty. Discount auto parts told me that the check engine light says that the fuel sensor is not working properly. After researching, apparently this is a common problem with Nissan Xterras and was once recalled in 2004 for all 2000-2004 models, but Nissan isn't recalling them anymore. I feel this is obviously a manufacturers error and needs to be repaired!.
The fuel level sensor in my 2006 Nissan Xterra has failed and my fuel gauge is inoperable. After some research, I have discovered that there are literally 1000's of people with the same problem. Nissan is ignoring this problem and it is a major safety issue. . Read more...
Fuel sending unit failure.
Fuel level sensor started moving around erratically roughly 8 months ago on a 2006 Nissan Xterra. Now the gauge almost always reads empty which in turn keeps my low fuel light on. This problem has also triggered the service engine light. Therefore, I do not know how much fuel is in my vehicle unless I track mileage and this is not completely accurate. Also I would not know if anything else might be wrong with my vehicle since my service engine light is always on.
I own a 2006 Nissan Xterra and the fuel gauge is it not working most of time, my gas light is on and it is triggering my service engine soon light even when I fill up the truck all the way up the light still stays on and every once and a while it will show my correct fuel amount but it is very rare. I have searched around and it seems like a lot of Nissan models have this problem and if you take it to the dealership it is a 600. 00 + dollar repair which I do not feel I should have to pay due to Nissans error.
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel level sending unit failure.
Fuel sending unit is malfunctioning causing check engine light to go on. Apparently a very common occurrence on Nissan Xterras.
Faulty fuel sensor in Nissan Xterra 2006. Appears to be a frequent failure with Nissan vehicles after 36 months (due to corrosion in the unit). Unit can read faulty causing vehicle to stop. Nissan acknowledges defect but will not recall and replace these units.
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel gauge giving a false reading fuel level sending unit was replaced.
2006 Xterra fuel gauge showed empty even after filling up. I now have service engine soon light that won't go off. The gas gauge does not work.
2006 Nissan x-terra. The fuel gauge does not work. As a result of the defective fuel gauge, the check engine light is lit. The vehicle can run out of gas in a driving situation. Nissan has only recalled certain 2006 x-terra's when the problem effects all 2006 Nissan x-terra's.
When fill up gas gauge reads empty. Check engine light comes on. I bought part will install myself.
2006 Nissan Xterra off road. Filled up with gas and the service engine light came on, as well as the gas gauge will no longer read correctly. This seems to be an ongoing issue with the Xterra and needs to be made the subject of a recall.
I own a 2006 Nissan x-terra and currently there is a recall defined for a specific set of vins for a fuel gauge reading malfunction, combined with an illuminated ses light. My vehicle which for some reason is not part of the recall has had this exact failure for over 1 year, as have many other Nissan owners. The problem creates a significant safety concern when you are unable to receive an accurate reading on the fuel level. And now it will not pass a state emissions test, because of the ses light. I have tried to deal with Nissan and every time I discuss the issue with them they explain that it is not part of the recall. I am going forth with a complaint through Nissan and a complaint through the NHTSA to help protect others.
I have experienced this failure on my current 2006 Xterra im at 39000 miles and they refuse to repair it. Warranty on this item is 36000 miles. They even tried to bs me when I said there is even a service bulletin out for this common repair. This is how it went: me - is there a current recall or service bulletin for a fuel sending unit failure or dtc p0461/2/3 dealer - let me check sir. Me - thanks dealer - no sir me - I find that hard to believe because I have it in my hand it is Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069b dealer - I do not have that information on me - service bulletins are created for common repairs so I know im not that only one with this problem.
I have a 2006 Xterra and at approximately 34,000 miles the fuel gauge started acting wacky. Marked empty though I just filled up and it would sluggishly go to full after a while. A few days after this the check engine soon light came on and won't go off. Fuel gauge is still acting wacky. It figures this started happening after the warranty is up.
Po463 error codes, causing faulty gas gauge readings that could allow you to run out of gas without warning.
