Check engine light is on and fuel gauge does not work can go from full to empty stays on empty even though I know there is gasoline in tank has caused us to run out of gas middle of nowhere.
When I turn the key in the on position all lights come on and the motor does turn over. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the starter and a week later it does the same so I ran a diagnostic test and p0181 code and 3rd coil pack misfire comes on. When I contact Nissan mechanic he said there was a recall on the ipdm and thats why I'm contacting you all.
The gas gauge doesn't work.
The airbag light is flashing intermittent not registering passengers. The fuel gage keeps going up and down unaware of fuel level. The tire pressure sensor is on and tires have correct psi. Vehicle can be in start still or driving.
Gas gage reads 1/2 full when empty, while in motion.
Car just shut off in traffic loosing all power and braking causing me to crash into the back of a stopped car at a red-light. After inspection from a mechanic shop, they informed me that something in the computer had fried causing the car to shut off, and it had also caused the transmission control unit module to go bad making the car not drive able.
There is a recall for the fuel sensor sending unit for 2006 Xterras, but I was told that my car was not a part of the recall because my VIN was not included in the recall. I feel as though this is a mistake, and that Nissan should be responsible for the fix of this issue. Clearly this is an issue for other cars of the same year, and I do not want to be left with the $500 fee to replace this faulty unit. The code of my check engine light reads as this as the problem. Please let me know what I can do, I do not want to be bullied by Nissan for this.
Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069b check engine light on, resulting in me running out of gas in traffic, the last time inches away from causing an accident as the truck completely died without warning while I was in motion on a major highway. Contacted Nissan and they told me my truck was not affected by this recall, yet here I am with the same problem as everybody else with only 60,000 miles on a 2006 vehicle. They are refusing to help resolve the situation and insist I pay to have them replace a part and pay labor to replace such part. I have taken very good care of this vehicle including keeping it low miles. There is no reason a "normal" fsu should fail after 60000 miles. I am now unable to renew my registration causing me and my family to drive around illegally as this is our only transportation. We are unable to afford the ridiculous cost Nissan has quoted us and don't feel we should have to pay to fix an obvious faulty part. They should be held responsible for this part failing and possibly causing serious injury to my family or another family.
Our vehicle began to no longer show that we had any fuel on the gas gauge. I saw that 2006 Nissan Xterras had a recall on the fuel level sending unit. We had the repairs done at a Nissan dealership, but were informed that our VIN number would not be covered. The corporate headquarters said we had no recourse because this was a warranty issue even though their website refers to it as a recall. Is there anything I can do? please help!.
Cracked radiator hose caused coolant to mix with transmission fluid thereby ruining the transmission. Cost included radiator and transmission (used) replacement. This issue would have been proactively repaired / replaced the radiator prior to the issue occurring had Nissan notified me of it. Instead, it cost an extra $3500 to replace both radiator and transmission. A totally preventable situation, never mind the potentially hazardous situation had the transmission failed at highway speeds. No excuse for Nissan.
These vehicles seem to have a safety flaw. When depressing the brake pedal the amount of travel is such that it is a common occurrence to depress the gas pedal at the same time causing the car to lurch forward. I have had two different Nissan dealers (henderson, nevada and boise, idaho) inspect my vehicle and was told in both cases there is nothing that can be done. . . Its the way the automobile was manufactured. During my last dealer inspection in boise, idaho the mechanic brought a new 2015 model into the garage and put the two cars side by side. The difference in brake pedal travel was approximately 1/8 of an inch, so the problem has evidently never been addressed by the manufacturer. Today, my vehicle lurched forward when braking because the gas pedal was depressed while braking. It is paramount that one's foot is centered on the brake pedal; if your foot is off to the right side just a little, the gas pedal will be depressed while braking causing an unsafe situation. I have had many very close calls because of this issue.
I was on my way back from the the mall when I heard my fan/belt start to squeal. Not thinking anything of it I keeped on driving next thing I know I'm pressing harder on my gas peddle just to go faster. My rpms where going to high and I was only going 65. I was on the high when this happen so I didn't notice till I had to go up a bridge and that's when I really notice my engine struggling to get power, it sounded like it was doing a lot when it really wasn't. I knew I had to go to the machanic to get it looked at they told me it was a lose bolt. Next thing ik I'm driving home and my car was doing the same thing again but this time it wasn't going into gear in drive, so I tried 3 gear still nothing so I went to 2 and it stuck. I parked it on a side street in ocean city and called trip a and had it towed to Nissan of atlantic city to see what was wrong. Couple days later they called and told me my raidiator fluid leaked into my transmission and messed all the gears up. After hearing that I looked up that problem on Xterras apparently this is a pretty common accurance on them. I was not notified of such problems by the dealer and apparently Nissan want renberrse me so I'm out 7,500 because my Nissan is sitting in my back yard.
When it turned cold Jan/Feb 2105 our daughter told us the heat was not working. But she knew we did not have the money to repair so we did not worry about it. We own a 2000 chevy truck & the heat has not worked for years & we just live with it. So we never thought about the radiator/coolant being the problem. Then something major happened-our daughter was driving home from auburn al to our home in opelika al & she called us saying the car would not go over 25-30 mph. We were out of town, it was 10 pm at night so we told her to keep driving and get home to a safe place (her life was more important than stopping on the side of the road--a young lady all by herself) she got home, parked it & when we returned home we took it to a local repair shop that we trust. He called us the next day & said I have devastating news. He told us about the service report put out on Nissan Xterras in regard to the major, well known to Nissan problem of when the coolant/radiator cracks because of a faulty when in manufacturing radiator is put in it is a known by Nissan bad one. It cracks & leaks into the transmission in which the coolant mixes with the transmission fluid & creates a toxic hell stew that destroys the transmission. He said your car is worth $5,000 but the cost to repair is $7,000. I called Nissan they told me I had to take it to a Nissan dealer for their diagnosis and the diagnosis is the same. My husband is very, very sick and we have huge medical, pharmacy, hospital bills and I have had breast cancer with chemo that has caused an autoimmune disorder (almost lost my left eye) and our 15 year-old daughter goes to children's hospital in birmingham al for rheumatoid arthritis. We thought we were buying a very dependable car for $14,000 only 3 1/2 years ago and now it is 4500 pounds of junk metal. If Nissan had told us about the problem, we could have been proactive.
Transmission going out due to a problem that many others seem to be having as well. See link below for more information regarding coolant leaking into the transmission. . Read more...
Upon turning a corner after coming to a complete stop at a stop sign in my neighborhood, I went to accelerate and match the speed of oncoming traffic. The gear failed to shift appropriately (transmission) and giving the car gas simply revved the engine. Luckily the approaching car responded well and slowed to avoid a rear collision while I eased off the pedal and then gently accelerated again to my local mechanic. Upon his examination of my 2006 Xterra, he determined that the transmission fluid and coolant were mixing and destroying both my radiator and transmission. A quick search on the internet revealed that this dangerous problem is common among Nissan owners! when I purchased the vehicle from smithtown Nissan in 2010 and subsequently, there was absolutely no notification or recall regarding this dangerous hazard. This is unacceptable and life-threatening. There settlement of a class action lawsuit is insufficient (a $2500 - $3k) CO-pay to replace the transmission and potentially have the same defect again! my wife and kids rely on my car every day and I feel fortunate that I did not wait any longer to have the car examined, but I am extremely disturbed by Nissan's negligence.
Check engine light came on so I took it to an autozone to have the code read. Po463, fuel sending unit. Did some research, called Nissan corporate to inform them of the issue and see if I was eligible for extended warranty (wasn't covered). Nissan corporate informed me that I was eligible for ecm relay replacement at no cost at a dealership, so I took the car to a dealership that quoted me lowest on the fuel sensor repair. They asked if I had other issues and I told them that my engine sometimes sounded like an rc car. They offered to look into it, called this afternoon after completing work on sensor and ecm relay to inform me that my timing chains were shot and in need of immediate replacement. Did some more research and found this is a frequent issue in Nissan cars, decided to file a report.
When driving the car at 40mph/around 1000rpms the vehicle began vibrating at the back end. Upon acceleration, the vibration ceased. This behavior became consistent. A mechanic independent from Nissan found that the transmission and radiator must be replaced per his conversation with the local Nissan dealership. Also advising independent mechanic that the dealership admits to having a floor full of transmissions that need repair. I investigated the class action suit filed in 2010 and already settled, but had no knowldege of this prior as Nissan did not alert me to the persistent problem since 2005 I should expect my car to develop.
Check engine light on, took car to local shop to read codes, showed fuel sensor issue. Gas gauge is all over the place. It shows full when empty, empty when full, and some in between. This appears to be a common issue, my VIN # shows no recalls or none that are covered over 72k miles?? what a disappointment in Nissan! would hate to run out of gas in -29 degrees with the kids and freeze trying to get home but I guess that is not a safety issue and "not worth mentioning".
While on a business trip away from home noticed the heater stopped blowing warm air. A few minutes later engine temperature spiked but then returned to normal. 50 miles later heater started working again. Took the car to a local mechanic and discovered transmission cooler within the radiator had failed, allowing the radiator coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. Paid for the replacement of the radiator/transmission cooler, system flush. Had the system flushed again 1 week after radiator replacement. Transmission now acting erratically, particular when shifting between 3rd and 4th gear. Initial assessments by mechanic suggests transmission and transmission computer require replacement. Cost of replacement exceeds the value of car even though the rest of the car is in excellent condition.
I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra. I have a problem with the fuel indicator. It drops down to "e" when the vehicle idles for more than a few minutes.
I am getting service engine soon light diagnostic error is p0463, this seems to be a common problem. Please accept this complain and have this fixed as a recall.
Received message p0463 on my car. This is for a faulty fuel level sensor. Research shows this is a faulty factory equipment piece on this model/car and therefore, I believe it should be considered a recall. Cost is close to $600. 00 at the Nissan dealership.
Check engine light came on and stayed on. Had diagnostics and found catalytic converter not to be working properly. Replaced catalytic converter on 29 Nov 2012. Again on may 2013 check engine light came back on and again it was the catalytic converter. Had to have it replaced again. Total cost of both replacements was in excess of $1900. 00. Contacted Nissan and they would not stand behind their product, said that warranty had expired. Had converter replaced at Nissan dealer the first time.
Upon start-up check engine light came on, had computer read and code p0463 came up indicating a fuel level sensor a circuit hi input malfunction.
My gas gauge no longer works and hasn't worked properly for a long time. I will fill up with gas and the gauge drops to empty, the fuel light comes on. My check engine light is on all the time. At times, the gauge will work, but I don't trust it. At the time, the dealership said that it wasn't covered under warranty and I had an extended warranty.
I am experiencing check engine light and error code p0463 (fuel level sensor malfunction) on 2006 Nissan Xterra.
About 61k miles the transmission felt like it was dragging while I was travelling at highway speed. When I got home I took it to the shop. The local shop dropped the pan and said the fluid was ok. The dragging didn’t come back after a fluid change. However, later on, at highway I occasionally felt a vibration that stopped when I took my foot off the gas. I later got notice of an extended radiator warranty to 80k miles, but it didn’t say anything about a transmission problem. The antifreeze never looked low when I checked the radiator, there was nothing in the driveway, so I put the sticker from the mail from Nissan on the manual and put it back in the glove compartment. On Saturday 6/8/2013 service engine light came on. At that time the car seemed to “drag”. It seemed to need to rev at higher rpm than usual to get going. At one point in stop and go traffic it wouldn’t move forward for a minute, and I hit almost 4000 rpm before it moved forward, very sluggishly. I took it to the shop the next day, they told me to see a transmission shop, since a code "1754" came up, indicating a defective control unit within the transmission. The transmission shop told me I needed a radiator, control unit, since the defective radiator had contaminated the transmission with antifreeze.
I purchased vehicle in mid 2009. Gas gauge failure causes abrupt stops without notice in heavy traffic areas causing hazardous situation and potential direct harm to driver and passengers. Nissan has been aware of faulty fuel sending unit prior to purchase of vehicle. As a buyer, I was not informed of problem with vehicle when car purchased at use car dealership (k & j auto sales ) located in hayward, California. Nissan factory recall and technical service bulletins for code p0463 and p0448 were issued for vehicle prior to purchase. This is an inherent problem in car design with previous Xterra models as it has been documented in publications. .
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel sending unit stopped working at 43,000 miles. The fuel gage started showing inaccurate amounts, then worked intermittently, then stopped working completely. Reading the Nissan forums, this is a very, very common problem, and there should be a recall.
I noticed last summer that when I gassed my Nissan Xterra up that the gas gauge would not show it being full and after visiting my local Nissan dealership it was diagnosed that it was a faulty fuel sensor error code p0463 and since I had over 75,000 miles on my Xterra at the time Nissan would not pay to repair it and that I had the option to pay for the repair myself which is well over 300 hundred dollars . I was also told by the dealership this was a known defect for 2005 and 2006 Xterra pathfinders etc. I have since found out that there was a NHTSA campaign recall on this id # 10v075000. I have since looked this up and found that this only covered Xterras with certain vins and I'm not sure if my Xterra is one of these vins. I also found it only covered it up to 75,000 miles which of course doesn't help me since the fuel sensor broke after 75,000 miles. This has been a very annoying problem for me for the last year and although I haven't run out of gas yet I've been close and I'm sure its only a matter of time before it will and then it will a safety issue for me. I recently contacted Nissan and talked to one of their representatives [xxx] at 1-800-343-6913 ext [xxx] and was told because I have over 105,000 miles on my Xterra now that Nissan would not pay to have it fixed and it was my problem. I feel that this a very known defect that Nissan knows about and has only halfway tried to resolve ie only covers Xterras with certain vins and up to 75,000 miles which shouldn't matter. It still is a defective part that I don't consider a wear and tear part and mileage vins shouldn't matter. I think Nissan should pay to have the fuel sensor fixed and mileage vins shouldn't matter they need to stand behind their products and correct their mistakes as this is a potential safety issue. I would appreciate any help in getting this issue resolved thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Engine light activation and fuel level discrepancy. Engine code po463 (fuel level sensor a high input). Told by Nissan that this individual vehicle is not covered under the recall for this problem even though it is reported that 80, 689 vehicles have been affected.
Nissan Xterra 2006, both front cats have failed. Dealer said due to ethanol a common problem, cost around $2300. Found cats and a mechanic for $1200. After 3 weeks check engine light returned. I am now getting a p0643. Dealer passport Nissan quoted around $700 to fix plus another $350 for belt replacement. None of the other recalls am eligible for due to being out of warranty. Also had to replace front and rear u-joints within a year of each.
I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra who's fuel sensing mechanism has failed which causes the "check engine" light to go on. Nissan wants $150 plus labor to fix the problem. After reading several forums, I am filing a complaint against Nissan in hopes of a recall.
After fueling my 06 Nissan Xterra, the fuel light read empty and the check engine indicator turned on. Failed emissions.
2006 Nissan Xterra fuel level sensor malfunction. Even after the previous models of Nissan pathfinder, Xterra, etc. Were recalled due to the fuel sensor malfunction, I am having the same problems with my 2006 Xterra.
