36 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/22/2015

I started the car this morning. The odometer, tachometer and speedometer did not work. The odometer was blank. I drove the car and the speedometer or tachometer did not work. This same thing happened to me at night, about a year ago. The panel lights also did not work. The next day, everything worked fine. It did not correct itself this tome. The instruments are still not working.

37 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/04/2015

I just purchased this car about 3 months ago and paid 4000 dollars for it. The vehicle stopped working and the fuel pump wasn't coming on. After searching for the power issue I discovered the fuel tank sending unit which is the top to the gas tank itself. Meaning the service hole of the tank access is the top part of the sending unit. The sending unit has 4 fuel line connections and 4 electrical connections. Two fuel conections and 2 electrical connections plug into the top side of the sending unit and they route through the plastic molded sending unit and connections are made in the bottom side. Basically fuel and electricity route through this unit into the tank. The power wire to the fuel pump burned and melted the conection inside the mold and burned the plastic all around the connection plug where the power goes to the gas tank. From what I understand the 00' and 02' sending units were recalled but not my 01'. This is the equivalent to riding down the road with a ticking time bomb under my children's seats. I have contacted Nissan but I have gotten nowhere with them so I am reaching out to the transportation saftey authorities.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

Was driving Xterra 4x4 on the street when all of a sudden the vehicle shut itself off. Was able to luckily turn the vehicle back on but when we arrived home the vehicle would no longer start. Had it towed to Nissan who discovered the car has a defective ecm unit. This could have been very very dangerous and I believe many other Nissan Xterra/frontiers/pathfinders have been affected as evident by searching google regarding this issue. Nissan would not repair the vehicle free of charge and wanted 1400 dollars to replace ecm. This day and age an ecm should last much much longer and should not shut down the vehicle nor, impair its ability to drive.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

Rear passenger doors keep locking and won't open/unlock at all. Oem parts were used for actuator and other issues, however it has happened again. Very unsafe, as if they jam, we can't exit the vehicle and have to climb to the rear hatch or through the front seats. If there were an accident, it would be detrimental.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

The front driver window will not go up. The back passenger window is also breaking down. I've heard there is an issue with Nissan's windows. Is there a recall for 2007?.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

The radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and ruined the transmission and valve body assembly. The car will not run and stalled out in an intersection.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

Driving down road and car quits steering was difficult hit a curb. The car all of a sudden came back on? has done this to me several times until I parked it now. Dangerious situration. Lucky no vehicles were around me.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

The radiator cooling water got into the transmission fluid. This caused strong vibration that we had to get off the road in the middle of a highway. The damage was required to replace the radiator and flush the transmission . It starte other problems with the transmission safety switch that caused engine trouble alert. After few weeks the car stalled altogether and we now had to tow it to a garage. Tthis is a problem that was reported before and I do not understand why Nissan does not fix the problem and repair the damaged units.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

The passenger side air bag light started blinking even with the sitebelt on propperly. This vehicule had never been in crash once or ever. I am very concern.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

One day I went to put my driver side window down, as it went down I hear a weird sound. When I went to put the window back up it didn't go up. I ended up going to work and when I got off I tried it again, it went up. Thinking it was just a one time thing a couple days later I put the window down to talk to my husband, didn't go back up again. This time we were about to leave somewhere that would take an hour and a half to get there, therefore, we had to travel with the window down there and back. Resulting in worse gas mileage and constant wind. When we got home my husband had to try to take some of the window apart to get the window back up. After my husband looked at it it seem to be the electrical set up with the buttons. From then to now I haven't dared to put the window down again, especially now that's it's getting cold. It wouldn't be such huge deal to me except I hate leaving the window down when I'm not by my car and the fact that I have a baby now and ask that wind would be blowing on her. Also, 7 months after the window started acting up the passenger driver side door began to not open up from the inside and only somethings from the outside. I've checked the child lock and it is not on. About a week after it started doing that my husband and I got home, husband was in the back with our baby, I tried to open the door and it wouldn't open. Somehow the door got locked and wouldn't unlock, tried to unlock it from driver door unlock button and from pulling on the nob on the actual door itself, it just wouldn't even unlock. Therefore, I had to go to the other side to get our baby out and my husband had to climb over the carseat base to get out the other side. I'd like to know why and how we could get it fixed. . The vehicle isn't very old and shouldn't be acting upn. With those 2 things not working it could cause safety issues.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

There is usual rust on body of truck. There is some kind of electrical problem rather it’s the security system or wiring. There’s a clicking sound coming from dash area. There is a suspension problem, has to change leaf springs, struts and shocks often.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

My wife refueled her vehicle and the "service engine soon" light came on. The gas gauge then went from full to zero and low fuel light came on. Soon after, the tmps sensor also went out. I thought it might be the gas cap being lose, but it wasn't. The gas gauge will fluctuate between empty and full. This is my wife's car and it is a hazard to be driven on the road, especially if she runs out of gas.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/15/2013

Check engine light came on then when I filled vehicle with fuel fuel gauge went to empty and low fuel light came on. Guage does not come back on u til vehicle is driven from 85 to 125 miles and then takes awile to reach up to around 3/4 full. Never really sure how much fuel is in tank. Was advised to change the fuel tank cap and did twice but still not working. Have to rely on trip guage to know if I have enough fuel. This seems risky for an almost 75 year old woman.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

While driving, check engine soon light comes on, fuel gauge reads empty and empty fuel tank light comes on. Nissan said that warranty extension expired March 2012. Will not repair for free,.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Fuel gauge sensor is not working - shows on empty even at full tank. Check engine light permanently on due to this issue.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/24/2013

My Nissan Xterra is a victim of the manufacturing defect where the coolant in the radiator mixes with the automatic transmission fluid, due to a leak in the transmission cooler, causing complete transmission failure. My transmission slips and driving is erratic, causing unsafe driving conditions. The repair is quoted at $6,000 dollars and is not considered a recall item. Nissan has extended coverage on vehicles up to 100,00 miles only, but this is starting to happen to newer vehicles over 100,00 miles. A radiator replacement would have prevented this problem. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed soon!.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/11/2013

I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra. At about 61000 miles I filled the gas tank. When I started my car I noticed the fuel gauge was still sitting on empty. Soon thereafter the "service engine soon" message appeared on my dash instruments and has not gone off since. I notice there have already been about 156 of the very same problems reported with many of the people running out of gas because of this. There should be a recall for this item.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

Fuel sending unit rusted and corroted gas guage in accurate reading.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

Vehicle had total failure on highway. Nissian dealer says it is from transmission contamination. Tcm totally failed, no power.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/26/2013

Just fill up gas and fuel gauge indicates almost empty. Cannot tell if I still have enough fuel. Dangerous situation if I'm driving and suddenly run out of gas.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/13/2013

I noticed the service engine soon light come on 3/13/2013. Today, 3/15 I took it to the Nissan dealership that I get my vehicle serviced at and they told me that the fuel sending unit is malfunctioning and the price to fix it. They also mentioned that they have seen this problem a few times now with other Xterra models. I mentioned to them that I cannot afford the repair at this time and they suggested I keep it full and it shouldn't be a problem. I got home and looked up the problem with my vehicle and it seems that a lot of other people are having the same problem, and not only with Xterras but with pathfinders and frontiers as well, as they are all based on the same drivetrain. Nissan is not covering this problem even though it seems to be a common issue with its vehicles.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Experienced intermittent fuel gage operation and inaccurate fuel level reading with check engine light on. Diagnosed as p0463 ecm error code (fuel level sensor). Nissan has confirmed the error code and refuses to repair/replace the fuel sending unit because vehicle is out of warranty despite previous recalls on other year models for the same issue.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

Recently the vehicle has been turning off while in use (driving down the road) and we have to throw it in neutral, crank back up, then put it back in gear. This is not safe. Took it in to get it diagnosed and the scan came back reading the catalytic converters could be going out (2 on each side, pretty sure only one side is affected). Then were told about an ecm relay recall. Mechanics have told us that this can cause the cats to fail. Nissan said to take it to a dealership and see what they say. What?! of course the Nissan dealership is going to replace only the ecm component of the recall and say it won't affect the cats, while other mechanics at non dealer affiliated shops have more than a few times said it can be a direct effect of the ecm. So we have a "case" number with Nissan and Nissan will "investigate" and let us know if they are willing to pay any towards the repair, or if a recall is issued in the near future we'll get reimbursed for the repair. . . How about you just make a vehicle without faulty parts and if a faulty part contributes to another part going out, you repair the parts affected.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 09/13/2012

While driving down a busy los angeles street during rush hour, my car suddenly lost drivability. The engine rpm's increased, but the car would not engage. Nearly got into multiple accidents trying to get to the side of the road. Car was towed to a mechanic where a strawberry milk color liquid was found in the transmission. Was told coolant and transmission fluid mixing was the cause. Required to rebuild transmission, replace radiator and transmission control valve. Repair cost estimated at $5050 plus tax.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 08/09/2012

I was driving to work a few mornings ago. My car had over a 4th of gas. Then my gas tank drops to below empty then my check engine light turns on. Then it turns off and turns back on continues to move and turns back on all while driving. I pull into a gas station fill up the gas tank then proceed to go home. The car turns back on one last time and when I try and turn it back on it shakes and turns off. Had to tow my car to my home had multiple mechanics come to my home and diagnose my car. I have replaced the fuel pump and yet still does not work. My mechanic told me the problems is deeper and this car and this year is known to have staggering issues. This should be recalled and fixed by Nissan not the consumer. I have never had an issue before. Im putting more and more money into a manufacture defect.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the hangs free phone system(blutooth) had malfunctioned. The contact stated when the vehicle was not moving, the mic worked properly, however, when driving at higher speeds, the wind from outside would ruin e the sound quality, which caused him to actually hold the phone while driving. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the approximate failure mileage was 19,000. Gb.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/16/2012

I was driving my car after a long trip, I had about a quarter tank left. I parked my car and when I returned to use it to run an errand I began to drive. My gas tank needle went all the way to below empty then my check engine light turned on as well. I have looked up this issue and found out there were multiple complaints about the exact same thing that happened to me. This is a Nissan issue that should not be taken out of pocket from the consumer. Especially since there is a long history regarding this exact same problem.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/15/2012

After fueling the car, the fuel level indicator either shows the tank as empty or a random level (never full, although the tank was just filled). The level from then on is always unreliable and fluctuates at random levels; there is no way to know what is the level of fuel in the tank at any time. I am afraid that the car will run out of fuel without me knowing and stop the car in the middle of a highway or while crossing train tracks. This happens all the time, the indicator never shows full when I fill up the tank. It shows empty or 1/4 full and then after a couple of days the level goes up to a level that I know it is too high for the amount of driving that I have done.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

Nissan Xterra 2007. P0463 service engine soon warning display started on the dash and inaccurate fuel reading. Only 39,800 original mileage on speedometer.

70 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra
