37 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 09/09/2018

While driving my "check engine soon" light appear, today I took it to a Nissan dealership to get a diagnostic to fix it. To make short the transmission and radiator needs replacement ($4,600. 00 dlls)because there's antifreeze in the transmission fluid. Online I found out that this problem is common to 2006 Xterras, funny thing is Nissan know all about it, but so far hasn't call a recall to fix their own mess. Another thing, I've got serviced my vehicle at to Nissan dealership s and never ever make a simple comment or advised about this problem with the radiator to me on my prior visits. It seems to me that they are reckless for holding critical info about preventable issues, specially since this is a design flaw on their part.

39 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/28/2018

My vehicle lost all power. First started to shake and rattle, then all power was lost. Upon further investigation, my engine coolant looked like a milk shake. Call Nissan, and they said it happens quite often that they have a name for it, "the milk shake". Appearently the inner tube, that cools the trans, broke causing fluids to mix, resulting in failure of transmission.

40 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/27/2018

Vehicle radiator rusted internally, therefore intermix coolant and transmission fluid. Automobile constantly serviced at Nissan dealers, no warning from Nissan.

41 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/27/2018

This car was purchased in California, I have had this car serviced at Nissan dealers from California to connecticut, from universal city Nissan in los angeles to bruce bennett in wilton, CT with stops in between. In a normal service check, it states on all invoices that fluids are checked. Today sir, I found out that fluids are not checked and due to Nissan's negligence my radiator and transmission are now married (intermix) and since that marriage a new radiator and transmission are being required. If you had performed the proper fluid checks, then the marriage could have been prevented and no replacement necessary. I want compensation, I. E. Radiator/transmission on this 12 year Xterra.

42 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Radiator cracks allowed transmission fluid and engine coolant to mix as a direct cause for transmission destruction! car will no longer move and no warning signs or recalls. This is a known problem by Nissan for years and no recall? who got paid at here to allow Nissan to get away with that for so many model vehicles for years! car stalled and died while in motion almost causing a major accident with my 2 kids aboard!.

44 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

Car just shut off in traffic loosing all power and braking causing me to crash into the back of a stopped car at a red-light. After inspection from a mechanic shop, they informed me that something in the computer had fried causing the car to shut off, and it had also caused the transmission control unit module to go bad making the car not drive able.

45 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

I was driving down the highway and all the sudden the SUV started loosing speed until it came to a completely stop in the middle lane of the baltimore beltway 695 which made a dangerous situation for me. Cars flying by on both sides of me. Had a police officer stop traffic so that I could drift it backwards down the hill to get it to the side of the highway. Found out it was the ddefaulty radiator/transmission that Nissan knew about. It didn't give me any notice that it was anything wrong. Except leaving me stranded on the highway. It costs me thousands to get a replacement radiator/transmission installed at the Nissan dealer. My vehicle had 105,000 miles on it.

49 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/30/2018

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. While idling at a stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle had to be pushed off the roadway and towed home. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the radiator ruptured, causing coolant to enter into the transmission. The contact called autonation Nissan (811 thornton rd, lithia springs, GA 30122, (770) 674-6080), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

51 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

While driving my car with just over 40,000 miles on it the clutch began to slip as I hit the gas. This caused the vehicle to slow down while in traffic and other drivers were forced to avoid my vehicle which could not safely maintain highway speeds. The clutch had to be replaced. This again just happened at over 80,000 miles. The clutch is wearing very quickly on this vehicle. Luckily none of these have caused any real safety concern but I want it documented that Nissan is selling a vehicle with a poorly made clutch that could cause safety issue depending on where you are when the failure occurs. If a vehicle loses its clutch it may not be able to shift gears or lose motive power increasing the risk of a crash.

52 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 02/26/2018

Transmission fluid in radiator in 2016, had to rebuild radiator. 2018 gas gauge fuel sensor not reading accurately. Only registers 1/4 tank even when filled.

53 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

Possible transmission cooler leaking and allowing antifreeze coolant to get into the transmission and ruin it costinf a new transmission and radiator on top of the repair labor costs and Nissan offering no help at all.

54 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 12/10/2017

Radiator and transmission fluid mixed now it`s going to cost $5000. 00 dollars for new trans.

55 Power Train problem of the 2014 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 12/09/2017

My vehicle will randomly buck and lose drive power. Mostly noticed at slow speeds, but also does it on the highway as well. The description of the problem is exactly like people reported in the 2014 class action suit against Nissan for several of the 2014 Nissan models (specifically, the pathfinder) it is concerning that the transmission will completely go causing a major safety concern.

56 Power Train problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

I had reach my destination to work and found that my Xterra will not go in reverse. I had no previous warning of this or recall notice from Nissan. I have 2 Nissan Xterra's after I pay for this $4000. 00 repair I plan on selling them both as they are not reliable with this transmission defect.

57 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

Transmission will not reverse or change gears while leaving the house today.

58 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 11/09/2017

"takata recall" I have a 2007 Nissan exterra 4wd. I checked my radiator fluid since I was not getting heat during parked idle. After letting the motor cool enough to remove the radiator cap, to my surprise there is transmission fluid in my radiator. I have owned this car approximately three years and never once got a letter. When I called Nissan today 11/10/2017 I was informed that the recall ended in 2016 or at 100,000 miles. In which case I was told nothing could be done.

59 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Takata recall transmission and radiator faliure.

61 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

My transmission went out due to a radiator defect in the 2005-2010 Xterras. I know there is a class action lawsuit involving this issue and consumers are attempting to force a recall of this generation of Nissans. The repair cost $4,200 and I was without a vehicle for over two weeks. The repair shop stated that I had significant water damage to the computer, which is typical of this defect. I was able to drive my vehicle to the shop, but I was very concerned about driving it from my location since I was hiking in the mountains approximately 40 miles from home when it became apparent there was a major issue.

62 Power Train problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

Purchased a 2008 Nissan Xterra x VIN 5n1an08u98c506719 milage 77107 on June 6, 2015. After owning this vehicle for just over 2 years we had very bad experience my wife was doing her daily errands as she was returning home with our child in the back seat here vehicle began to accelerate and loose acceleration potentially causing her to be accident. When she returned home the vehicle wouldn't even turn over I had it towed to my mechanic and he informed me that this has a defective radiator cooler tank that ruptures and forces coolant into the transmission through the cooler lines and subsequently I was looking at over $3500 dollars in repairs. For a know problem reported Nissan has been aware of. Its very disheartening $3500 in repairs for a know problem it hurts in fact its affected even my surrounding family members, my mother is or was proud owner of Nissan altima 2015. I just don't understand I don't have problem maintaining a vehicle or spending money for repairs that are standard that comes with owning any vehicle but this is just outrageous. How does start up family. . . 1st family car end up in this position. Is there anything Nissan can do to help me and my family.

63 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/11/2017

Takata recall. . . Car was driving fine all day until I pulled up to a red light. When light changed and I pressed on gas, car would hardly go but eventually after soft coaxing it got up to speed. Was like I just lost first gear on an automatic transmission. Subsequent red lights resulted in same problem. Researched online about any complaints with this type of problem and found hundreds of complaints on just one website. Took vehicle to local transmission repair shop where it was diagnosed with the following problem: coolant box inside transmission burst causing transmission and radiator fluids to mix and ruining both transmission and radiator. Cost for this repair is $3800-4500. I have seen hundreds of complaints online about this very same problem. When I contacted Nissan corporate I was told there is no recall for this because hundreds is minute in comparison to the thousands of vehicles they have sold.

64 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/07/2017

Transmission fluid mixing with colling antifreezer due to a defective bad designed radiator,.

65 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

My 2005 xteraa transmission and radiator needs replaced due to lines breaking and there is water all in the passenger side floorboard and the radiator has goo looking stuff in it and the vehicle will not go in drive at times. I just bought this car February 2016 for my daughter and still owe on this vehicle.

66 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/30/2017

Radiator leaked into transmission and both had to be replaced. Stoped woring on the cross bronx expressway. Very scary situation.

67 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

Radiator failed internally and allowed transmission fluid to to mix with coolant and circulate through the transmission, destroying both the radiator and transmission. This happened suddenly on a a very busy highway and caused the total loss of propulsion. This endangered me due to the fast moving vehicles around that didn't know why I was slowing to a stop in traffic and I was very lucky to not be run over. Cost of repair is at least $6,000, dealer price is more like $7,000 this happened when my Xterra only had 110,970 miles and with no warning at all. This is total loss of the vehicle since it doesn't make any sense to repair at this price a vehicle with less resale value than the cost of the repair. I've attached pictures of a repair estimate and the "strawberry milkshake" looking mix of transmission fluid and radiator coolant that resulted.

68 Power Train problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/13/2017

Nissan dealership notified me about needing to replace the entire timing chain system. After doing research, it is evident Nissan knew about faulty timing chain tensioners and guides that it was using on certain model year Xterras, including 2007. If timing chain fails while vehicle is in motion, it can lead to catastrophic engine failure and a $8000+ repair bill for a new engine. Nissan knowing about this problem sent service bulletins to its service centers but did not inform consumers about the problem. The timing chain should be good for the life of the engine, but now my local dealership is telling me it is going to cost at least $1900 to replace the timing chain and all components. Nissan knew the components are faulty and yet don't care enough to inform consumers. This isn't the first time this has happened. Nissan knew that the transmission coolers on same model year were faulty and did not inform consumers. Class action lawsuit forced Nissan to face the music, but consumers still had to pay over $2000 out of pocket to replace transmission, transmission cooler, and radiator.

69 Power Train problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

Nissan Xterra 2006 94,105 miles trans starting to slip all issues lead to radiator leake.

70 Power Train problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

2005 Nissan Xterra. Consumer writes in regards to radiator hose ruptured and sent coolant into transmission. The consumer stated the engine began racing but, there was no power. The vehicle lunged forward and then stopped. A hose in the radiator ruptured. This caused coolant to enter the transmission and transmission fluid to enter the radiator. The failure occured while the consumer was driving. The manufacturer was contacted, but did not offer any assistance.
