Now, we are worried because it will cost us$8,000 for repair by replacing transmission and radiator. Besides this I have to pay $190. 00 for diagnostic fee. We are not rich and we prepared this car for our son, for his safety, now his 16 years old this June 2019 and ready to take the wheels, this car is his car for college. 14 Radiator problem of the 2004 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/22/2018

2004 Xterra had been low on radiator fluid and needed topping up each week, then each day. After filling with water and coolant night before car began to overheat on hwy. Car sat in sun all day, then overheated in traffic. Had towed to work on it. Replaced split radiator hose where dripping occurs and refilled car radiator, no leaking apparent. Next day, drove on hwy to work. At 65-75 mph car began making clicking/tapping noises from engine. Went uphill towards interchange and car shook violently, steam (or smoke) came from under hood as I carefully crossed freeway to exit, all lights came on on dash and smoke or steam poured into the car through air vents. I had lost all power and power steering, but I steered it safely to hwy service road street with parking lot. Car was smoking under hood, steam or smoke was coming out of vents and all lights remained on on the dash. Under the hood, the a/c condenser or radiator has a 5" break on top of it. When I put water in the radiator it pours through several places where hoses connect (gaskets and seals, I presume). Had the car towed home and I'm afraid to drive it ever again, but now I can't get to work or pick my kids up from school anymore and I can't afford to fix it or pay for repairs since I can't get to work.

The tech informed me that the leak was minimal but needed to be replaces ASAP. The radiator was replaced and lines flushed and also had to take my car into a trans expert to flush and inspect the transmission.

Boch Nissan south ( formerly Nissan village)sold me a truck on March 30, 2013 where they rolled back the odometer & failed to mention 2 serious accidents in 2011 prior to my purchase March 2013. I believe we were shown a different car fax I was told it was the salesman's wife's truck that she had just traded in. I have had very serious issues that made no since for a truck that had been babyed by me . Complete enigen fire in febuary nuremous oil leaks & radiator mixing with the coolant oil past 10 months. I brought it into to nissian boch south of north attleboro in April they accused me of rolling back the odometer. I was horrified told them you guys sold me this truck. I went home and ordered a carfax and it clearly happened at the dealership when it went in for repairs on 2 accidents that I was not aware of! boch nissian thinks it's no big deal my 17 year old daughter was driving this truck she could have been in the fire and as a new driver may have panicked and gotten into a serious accident. I was driving on rt 1 north attleboro in February I had just had the valve gasket replaced . I was driving all of a sudden lost all power blank dash saw a ton of smoke coming out of the engine. I jumped out after rolling to the side of route 1 by the time the tow truck came it was simmering. It took over two weeks to repair wiring at patriot electrical in pawtucket ri new alternator , gasket cover replaced again. I thought we were buying a truck with 58,000 miles when in realty it was almost 90, 000 or more depending on far they rolled it it was 70,000 prior to my purchase when the 1st accident happened with the salesman's wife.

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

Purchased a 2008 Nissan Xterra x VIN 5n1an08u98c506719 milage 77107 on June 6, 2015. After owning this vehicle for just over 2 years we had very bad experience my wife was doing her daily errands as she was returning home with our child in the back seat here vehicle began to accelerate and loose acceleration potentially causing her to be accident. When she returned home the vehicle wouldn't even turn over I had it towed to my mechanic and he informed me that this has a defective radiator cooler tank that ruptures and forces coolant into the transmission through the cooler lines and subsequently I was looking at over $3500 dollars in repairs. For a know problem reported Nissan has been aware of. Its very disheartening $3500 in repairs for a know problem it hurts in fact its affected even my surrounding family members, my mother is or was proud owner of Nissan altima 2015. I just don't understand I don't have problem maintaining a vehicle or spending money for repairs that are standard that comes with owning any vehicle but this is just outrageous. How does start up family. . . 1st family car end up in this position. Is there anything Nissan can do to help me and my family.

26 Radiator problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/12/2017

27 Radiator problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/18/2017

I was driving home when I stopped at my driveway and my car had sprung a leak from under my passenger side. My car was not overheating, I received no warning that according to my mechanic- my transmission cooler had failed and mixed in with my radiator. Hopefully my transmission isn't shot, with a new radiator and flushing all the lines is almost $1000. This all could have been avoided if I had some warning. My car had been driving just fine prior to this incident.

28 Radiator problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 04/13/2017

Nissan dealership notified me about needing to replace the entire timing chain system. After doing research, it is evident Nissan knew about faulty timing chain tensioners and guides that it was using on certain model year Xterras, including 2007. If timing chain fails while vehicle is in motion, it can lead to catastrophic engine failure and a $8000+ repair bill for a new engine. Nissan knowing about this problem sent service bulletins to its service centers but did not inform consumers about the problem. The timing chain should be good for the life of the engine, but now my local dealership is telling me it is going to cost at least $1900 to replace the timing chain and all components. Nissan knew the components are faulty and yet don't care enough to inform consumers. This isn't the first time this has happened. Nissan knew that the transmission coolers on same model year were faulty and did not inform consumers. Class action lawsuit forced Nissan to face the music, but consumers still had to pay over $2000 out of pocket to replace transmission, transmission cooler, and radiator.

29 Radiator problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/05/2017

I purchased my 2008 Nissan Xterra about 3 years ago and did not know about all the defects the transmission and radiator had. I am highly disappointed with this Nissan. It left me stalled in the middle of the road just suddenly with no warning. Worst part was that it was in the middle of the night with a party of 5. The conditions were unsafe and had to wait for daylight to be able to be towed. Its is very unfortunate that I can not do anything about this bad vehicle and it will cost me close to 4k to have my vehicle repaired. At this point im just still in debt since I have not finished paying this off and car less. Its very unfortunate that Nissan will not take any responsibility for the horrible and unstable vehicle they created.

33 Radiator problem of the 2008 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 01/26/2017

I'm having transmission problems due to the known design flaw in the 2008 Xterra radiators that causes coolant to mix with transmission fluid. Nissan admitted the flaw and yet the NHTSA, who is supposed to help protect us, has concluded that Nissan isn't liable for these problems. What protection does a consumer have besides trying to take a multi-national company to court if the government body who looks into this won't act? please revisit this "radiator intermix" problem!.
