This afternoon around 4:30 pm, I received a call from my campus security at work. Apparently, someone had walked past my car in the parking lot and noticed that the back rear window had shattered and blew out. When I went to see what happened, the security officer told me that there were no signs of force by a person, but it seemed that the glass had blown out from the inside. We took numerous pictures, and the officer also mentioned that it had happened to a handful of other cars this year alone, including other Nissans. He speculated that it was due to the temperature change. Earlier in the morning, the car was frosted over when I drove to work. By afternoon, it was warm enough without a jacket. No one was injured in this situation. Our work campus is also fenced with secure entry at all times. Afterwards, we cleaned up the glass so that it would not shatter on the road while I drove. Tomorrow, I will be taking it to the dealership to find out if this should have been recalled.

Rear window busted out on it's own. There was no one touching it or anything. My wife was getting out nephew out of the back seat and the window busted out, spreading pieces of glass all over the back inside and outside of the vehicle. I want the glass replaced free of charge and someone needs to check and see what caused the window to bust out so no one get hurt or has a wreck while driving down the road and the window bust out.

First the driver side window stopped working. Sounds like breaking glass when it is rolled down. Will only roll down 1 -2 inches and will not roll back up. The left rear window will roll down but will not roll back up. The right rear window will occasionally roll down but will not roll back up. The front passenger window works for now.

I purchased my 2001 Nissan Xterra in may 2004. As I was driving home I noticed how the driver's and passenger's window glass shakes badly, as if they were going to fall right out the window or break. I contacted the dealer the 2 days later and was told, they would check into it and get back to me. For the following 3 weeks we had arguments over the financing of the vehicle, which we finally resolved, but they refused to explain or offer information about the window glass. I have seen a mechanic about the situation, and was informed that the regulators for all four windows need to be replaced as they are defective. I notified the dealer and they refused to correct the problem, stating I have to pay for it myself! I would like to know if there is a recall or something that Nissan is doing to repair this at minimal costs to owners! thanks!.
Three of the four power windows on my 2001 Nissan Xterra failed.
