Car has a little over 100,000 miles and began to vibrate in transmission then noticed radiator was full of slimy sludge mechanic suggested we replace radiator and thermostats which we did ($478. 52). Ran for about a week after and just shut off one day throwing up engine codes for transmission. That's when we discovered the coolant contamination. Upon calling Nissan they informed me it was not going to be cheap would need to replace transmission. Car has been sitting since and I still owe on it but cant afford the 3-6k dollar estimates I have received.

The transmission shakes violently on acceleration. So I drove the vehicle to the dealership for a diagnosis. I have learned that the radiator cracking and leaking into the transmission is a common problem for the 2005 Nissan Xterra, and that Nissan settled a lawsuit in October of 2012. I do not remember getting any information that this might be a problem and I have to pay $3000 to get the transmission and radiator replaced! after 100,000 miles I am stuck to pay the complete cost of the repairs. Is there any kind of recourse for this problem that I am unaware of?.

Radiator coolant and oil mixture and due to that, the transmission makes the car vibrate to an undrivable point affecting the driver ability to conduct a safe operation on the road including busy highways.
Transmission shakes vehicle while shifting going 40-55 mph. Dealer evaluated vehicle and stated that a new radiator and transmission is needed.
Radiator leak, heater temp dropping, rough gear vibration from transmission.
Due to a cracked radiator line coolant leaked causing major transmission and electrical failure. This causes the car to shut off randomly or shake violently ( this happen to me on the freeway and I was stuck with cars zooming pass me at 70 mph) and transmission to jolt and shake when going through the gears.
Transmission shudders violently periodically between speeds of 40mph and 65mph. Brought truck to buckeye Nissan in hilliard, OH where all of my repairs have been completed over the entire life of my vehicle and they informed me that I had coolant in transmission and transmission fluid in radiator. This problem can lead to sudden and catastrophic failure of transmission while in motion which could have lead to a serious auto accident.
I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra. The transmission had vibration intermittently. Transmission finally went out due to a faulty radiator. This vehicle is equipped with two coolers one air and one water cooled. I have read of many complaints for this. Nissan knows of the problem and should recall it. I bought this vehicle used from pat peck Nissan with a warranty. At 6mos I received a letter that the warranty was not valid on this vehicle and they reimbursed the cost of the warranty. I feel that they knew this was a problem.
