I live in a hot "ambient" environment, the south. I am the third owner of my 2003 Alero Oldsmobile. My car's accelerator sticks and will not return to idle. It continues to do this and it seems like it is getting worse. It is also affecting the rest of the car and its parts. My brakes are probably going out because of the accelerator pedal being stuck and me having to hold the brakes down while its revving past 3000 rpms in park. I have contacted gm and they claim that my VIN isn't effected. I have read about and talked to many other owners of the 2003 Alero Oldsmobile and they also were turned away and said that their vins were not effected. I think that gm might not be taking this recall seriously but I am positive that this recall is valid for my car and it is scary when I have my two boys that are under five in my backseat when the accelerator sticks and continues to do and even when I turn off my vehicle and turn it back on it continues to do so. I am filing this complaint in hopes that ya'll would be able to help me . Thank you so much.

2 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

Tl-the contact owns a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the accelerator pedal become stuck and the when brake pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to respond causing the vehicle to rollover three times. The air bags had not deployed. The police report was filed. The contact sustained a herniated disk to the neck and his lower back and hip were injured which required medical attention. 4 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2003 Oldsmobile Alero

The contact owns a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. While driving at any speed, the accelerator pedal sticks. The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer twice, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer performed the vehicle inspection twice when the weather was 50 degrees; however, the pedal would stick when the weather was much warmer. Nhtsa campaign id number 04v528000 (vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal) was referenced. The contact would like the recall repair performed on his vehicle. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 51,848.

5 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2003 Oldsmobile Alero

: the contact stated while driving 30 mph the vehicle accelerated without warning. The vehicle crashed into a curb and a flower pot before it was stopped by turning off the engine. Upon inspection, it was noticed that the accelerator pedal was stuck and fully depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where for repair. There is a NHTSA recall # 04v528000 which was performed on the vehicle concerning, the vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal however, the recall did not remedy the problem. The dealership would not offer a second repair without charge.

: the contact stated when the inside of the vehicle was hot, the accelerator pedal would stick causing rapid acceleration. There is a NHTSA recall, # 04v528000, regarding the accelerator pedal. The year was not included in the recall. No one could duplicate the consumers concern. One of the mechanic's suggested that maybe the floor mat was in the way. Updated 06/19/06.

Sticking throttle concern - vehicle accelerator sticks, causing the car to continue speeding and possibly result in a crash. Problem first occurred in the summer of 2004 and has reoccurred in summer of 2005. This problem occurred after throttle body cleaning and service was performed at the dealer.

I was driving my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero home from work on June 8, 2005 when all of the sudden it started accelerating on it's own. My foot was not even on the accelerator! then when I tried to stop my car didn't want to stop. I had to throw the car into neutral in order to prevent my car from running into the car in front of me. I pulled over onto a side road and put my car in park and the engine kept racing. I tried turning the car off, I tried switching from drive to neutral to park. Nothing worked. I started driving again to see if it would stop and after a few minutes my car returned to normal. I took my car to the dealership where it was purchased and when I called to see if they were finished fixing my car I was told they could not find anything wrong; so my boss and I took it into our own hands. We found out there was a recall on 2003 Oldsmobile Aleros where in hot ambient conditions (it was about 90 degrees that day) the accelerator pedal arm may stick at the attachment to the bracket and not return to the engine idle position when the operator lifts his foot from the accelerator pedal. I brought the report we found with me to the dealership, but he refused to help. He said he could not fix it under the warranty because there was not a recall on my specific VIN number. He also could not fix it under the warranty because they could not duplicate the problem. I left and called Oldsmobile directly. There were just as helpful as miller Subaru dealership. I was told I could get a second opinion from another gm dealership, but it won't get fixed unless the problem is duplicated. I know my specific car was not recalled. However, the problem must be more wide spread then they originally thought since I actually had the problem when my car wasn't recalled. I would like to prevent this from happening again and possibly causing an accident and/or injury, but Oldsmobile and miller Subaru have been totally uncooperative thus far.

Comments: on July 25, 2005 I contacted Oldsmobile customer assistance center regarding service needed on my 2001 Alero. I stated that it was my understanding that the speed control accelerator pedal on my vehicle was the subject of a recall by the manufacturer. I have not, however, received any notice that corrective repairs will be performed. Specifically, my vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 124, accelerator control system's is hot ambient conditions, the accelerator pedal arm may stick at the attachment to the bracket and not return to the engine idle position when I lift my foot from the accelerator pedal. As a result, failure to return to idle could result in a vehicle crash. I initially advised the dealer of this problem on may 11, 2004 and they informed me that my car required throttle body cleaning and service, which they charged $82. 95. I returned the car to the dealer again on June 27, 2005 for the same problem and they performed the same service for $84. 95. On July 25, 2005 I brought the car back to the dealer with the same complaint. They lubricated the throttle pivot and charged me $44. 11. To date I have paid $212. 01 and the dealer never informed me that a recall had been issued for this problem. I would appreciate your help in verifying if the repair should be covered by the manufacturers recall program and the exact remedy to correct this problem.
