Speeed sensor repestly needs to be replaced. If this not vital to the vehicle's safety and is only a f eature that is reassuring the driver. Three kights go on, chimes ring, and it appears that something is changing how the car drives- hard. There is caabin noise resulting from the apparently change in shifting. This will be the third time in four years that speed sensors need to be replaced
is it not the speed sensors, and another part= like electrical and the codes are the same? are the sensors themselves faulty?.

I have a 2001 olds Alero. . . . For two years I have been having trouble with the sensor on my right front tire. The sensor caused my abs and traction control system to fail. After many attempts to get fixed it seems that my bearing was bad. On the day that I got my car fixed 5 cars between 2 dealers were getting the same problem fixed. They were all gm cars. .

While driving 70 mph the consumer's 2001 Oldsmobile Alero began to vibrate uncontrollably. The vehicle began to make a grinding noise. The consumer pulled over shut the vehicle off for about 10 minutes and when she restarted the vehicle the trac and abs lights illuminated. The dealer had done repairs prior to the incident. When the consumer took the vehicle to dealer she was told the speed sensor was bad and the entire hub bearing assembly would have to be replaced in order to fix the part.
Left front wheel speed sensor shorted out. When the vehicle was turned on the check engine, abs and traction light illuminated on the dash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the left front wheel speed sensor shorted out. The dealer replaced the left front hub kit at the consumer's expense. Less than a year later the right front wheel speed sensor shorted out. The consumer was once again responsible for the cost of the repair. The consumer request reimbursement in the amount of $1601. 05 for both repairs. (nar).
The car's brake rotors warp every 1500 miles resulting in a loss of braking. The rotors have been machined and/or replaced on 3 occasions but the problem reoccurs. When braking with the warped rotors, the abs wheel speed sensors hit the "bad" spot on the rotors and assume a lock-up is emminent. The abs system then releases pressure on the brakes and braking distance exceeds safe levels.
