I received letter from GMC informing of a recall on the hazard flashing warning light (03v327000 or GMC # 03043. I was already experiencing issues at that time the dealer told me that it would have to be completely inoperable to be replaced. It is now inoperable and I have now been informed that my VIN # falls outside of the recall. How is it determined which VIN's are effected? is there any way to reinvestigate the effected VIN's? I would like to resolve this issue before the car is involved in an accident and not after. Thank you.

Blinker indicator on 2003 Oldsmobile Alero sporatically works, causing extreme danger when driving because it prevents driver from notifying other drivers on the road of lane changes, left/right hand turns, or vehicle problems when hazard lights are turned on but vehile fails to respond. 2003 Alero sporatically makes "click" noises such as when one uses the blinker, even though driver has not initiated blinker use and blinker indicator lights do not display on the outside of the vehicle. The "click" noise speed varies, sometimes every second, other times it "clicks" as if in a frenzy "click-a-click-a-click-a-click-a. . . " and so on. When blicker actually is put to use by driver, sometimes it operates as a blinker should, ie, staying on until either the turn is made or the driver manually returns the blinker indicator back to it's standard position, other times it will turn itself off prematurely, ie, while the driver is still waiting to turn, before steering wheel is turned - and blinker indicator remains in the "in use" position. . . Blinking lights on the outside of the vehicle just stop working as if the driver turned the blinker off him/herself. Other times when blinker is used, nothing happens. No blinker indicator lights appear on outside of the vehicle to indicate to other drivers that a turn/lane change is attempting to be made. According to Oldsmobile customer service on 9/1/10, there is no recall for this defect for the 2003 Alero, although other late model Aleros have had a recall issued for this same defect. See: NHTSA campaign id number: 03v327000. The only option at this point for 2003 Alero owners to prevent their vehicle from being a road hazard is to have a dealership fix the manufacturer defect at a cost of $120-$200 out of pocket, even though this is a known and common issue on late model Aleros. . . . Or wait around for Oldsmobile to issue a recall for a vehicle 7+ yrs old at this point and fix for free as they should.

The turn signal lamps become intermittent or inoperative. This is an actual recall on 1999 to 2001 models but for some reason not on the 2002 through 2004 models. I have just purchased this vehicle and have not yet had it repaired.

Gm told me that my VIN number for my Oldsmobile Alero 2000 does not apply to NHTSA recall 03v327000. (gm recall 03043)this recall exactly describes the problem that I have been having with my care off and on for quite a while. The turn signals and hazard lights intermittently fail. It is dangerous to expect the turn signal to work and find it does not.

Hard starting. Vehicle just keeps on cranking but does not start unless you pump accelerator several times. This happens daily,- every time you attempt to start the vehicle. We also have a problem with the hazard warning switch and directional lights,- police flashed me down and gave verbal warning.
Turn signals started failing a few years after we bought the car. We changed them a few years ago and later got a recall notice about them failing. They were fine at the time that we got the recall notice about 2 years ago and just recently they started failing again. They go off and I never know when they are going to not work. Sometimes they go really fast and sometimes they slow down. Other times they just do not go on at all. I never know when that is going to happen.
The contact owns a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. The interior, hazard, and fog lights malfunctioned. The manufacturer would not repair the vehicle under NHTSA campaign id 03v327000 (exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch) because the switch was previously replaced under the same recall. The failure mileage was 89,000 and current mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. The vehicle was purchased on 02/08/07. After leaving the dealers she contact realized the signal lights were failing. Also the headlights failed. The failure mileage was 88,900. The dealer informed the contact that since they didn¿t purchase an extended warranty they were not responsible for the repairs. The contact viewed on NHTSA¿s website, and found recall campaign # 03v327000 concerning exterior lighting: flashing warning lights: switch. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not part of the recall. The current mileage was 88,924.
I was switching lanes and flashed my turn signal to switch lane. When I let go of the turn signal, the relay behind the hazard light button started to click like the turn signal was still on. This is an intermittent click and is not consistent. Sometimes it clicks fast and sometimes it clicks slow. I found recall 03v327000 and thought this was the problem. The dealership performed this recall and the click is still occurring. I have read that there has been issues with multi-function switches in other gm vehicles which causes a clicking of the hazard light button. Also, the key is getting warm when it is in the ignition. I am afraid this constant clicking of the relay will cause the turn signals from working which could result in an accident.
The contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. The contact stated that the turn signals were inoperative. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and made the contact aware of the NHTSA campaign id number: 03v327000 (exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch) recall, but the contacts VIN was not a part of the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 101,000. Updated 09/8/lj the consumer stated the intermittent signal problem started approximately four years ago. The problem has become worse over the last two years, to the point where the signals hardly work. (daughter wrote in on behalf of mother) updated 09/14/11. Updated 09/15/11.

A NHTSA recall, # 03v327000 was performed on the vehicle on 2001 prior to his ownership. The recall was concerning the exterior lighting: hazard flashing warning lights: switch, however the recall did not remedy the problem. The dealership would not offer a second repair under the recall. Updated 10/25/2006 - the vehicle had a three year history of the turn signals failing intermittently. While doing research the consumer found information on the hazard switch recall.

Intermittent turn signal and hazard lamps. At times while driving turn signals will not work at all. Often times hazards will flash or chick rapidly during normal driving. Same symptoms as gm recall 03043 or NHTSA campaign id 03v327000, however my VIN 1g3nl52t9yc364560 is not included in recall. Gm shows only yc37xxxx through yc43xxxx in recall. These earlier VIN use the same part and have the same problem as those listed in the recall. Center console was removed for access and it was verified that any slight pressure to the combination 'hazard switch/flasher circuit board' will replicate the failures. Problem is not resolved causing vehicle have a dangerous safety issue.
On my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, the turn signal/hazard light becomes intermittent and/or inoperative during temperature variations. The dealer and general motors refuse to replace without cost because this vehicle is apparently not included in gm recall no. 03043.
: the contact stated the vehicle warning lights failed. There is a NHTSA recall, # 03v327000, regarding the hazard flashing warning light switch. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The dealership replaced the hazard flashing warning light switch.
: the contact stated the turn signals and hazard warning lights intermittently work. There is a NHTSA recall, # 03v327000, regarding the exterior lighting. The vehicle was not seen by a dealer and no repairs were made. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it is not included in the recall due to the VIN.
2002 Oldsmobile Alero. At 57,000 miles turn signals are occasionally inoperative. Fuses were changed and they still fail on occasion. Identical problems resulted in the recalls of the 2000 and 2001 olds Aleros. Upon reviewing internet web sites I discovered that there are many other Alero owners whom are having the same problem. A temporary solution until the hazard switch can be replaced is to slap the dashboard near the hazard switch to make it operable. The inability to alert other drivers of the intent to change lanes, or make turns is a safety issue.
My 2001 Oldsmobile Alero had numerous failures of the turn signals and hazard warning flasher. Both systems either worked or failed simultaneously. The failures appeared to be random, I. E. , there was no particular pattern. I became aware of a recall (NHTSA: 03v327000) and contacted the manufacturer, who informed me that my vehicle isn't one affected based on its VIN.
Turn signals didn't always work. I would have to hit the hazard switch and then the signals would work. Took to dealer and had to have a new hazard switch installed.
Hazard light is causing turn signals to be inoperable and both gm an Oldsmobile says vehicle VIN is not included in the recall but the vehicle is having the same symptoms as the recall states.
My 2001 Oldsmobile Alero turn signals intermittently become inoperable.
Turn signals stop working intermittently, no warning that they will not work. I have pushed the hazard button in and out and this sometimes helps. Very dangerous, I have gone miles out of my way because I can't make a turn safely without being able to signal.
The turn signal / hazard switch went out on my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. This caused the turn signals not to operate and nearly caused me to be rear ended on a highly traveled road with a child in the car. The failure was corrected by having the part replaced. The old part is no longer available due to shop throwing it out.
