Side/window Air Bag problems of the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Two problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2004

While driving consumer hit a patch of ice sending the vehicle over a bank. Upon impact, the air bags on driver's side did not deploy. Driver and passenger sustained injuries.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1998

The horn on the van was intermittent from nearly the first use. We rarely use it an did not remember to inquire about it over a period of several years whenever we were at the dealership for service. Finally, one time we asked about it and were told that we had a faulty sop module and that it was likely that the driver-side airbag wouldn't function. We wrote to daimler-Chrysler and they responded that they wouldn't cover the replacement. Seems ludicrous that a safety device on a new vehicle could be rendered useless and the manufacturer wouldn't step-up to replace it.
