While driving down the interstate doing about 70 mph I heard a loud noise. Looked at speedometer and it registered 0. I had no power. Barely managed to get van off the road. Got out and looked under it, there was transmission fluid everywhere. Had it checked out by personal mechanic. He then told me that there have been numerous complaints about this year of Plymouth Grand Voyagers. I only have 86,000 miles on it. Also the sliding door locks have failed, windshield washers have failed, a/c has failed, not to mention the airbag light, fuel line and all of the numerous other recalls it has had on it.

Lights flash, bells chime, door locks activate repeatedly, dash gauges go dead very distracting and scary for my wife.
Door lock failures: repeated failures required new mechanisms, also affected the fuel tank door. Transmission failure: occurred in parking lot fortunately. Required $2200 in repair. Dealer (hershberger motors in woodburn, or) failed to correctly seal the transmission. When returned to dealer for this, they broke the right bearing hub, another $400 to repair. Body control module failure: wipers stopped working - an absolute necessity in oregon! bcm repaired by sending out existing unit by dealer (town & country Chrysler, milwaukie, or). Did not correct problem ($450 repair costs). Presently in for correcitve action. Signed - unhappy customer.
Sliding door on passenger's side feels tight on track. But when closing and driving it rattles/ shakes and sounds like it's going to come off. Vehicle has been in 3-4 times to be checked, and nothing could be found wrong. The dealer was notified.
Right rear sliding door opened while driving. Dealer has replaced sensors prior to incident. Please provide additional information.

The fuel pump failure (twice) is not only incovenient and expensive the 2nd time(not under warranty), but it also can be dangerous if it occurs at the wrong time, like during passing. The windshield wipers randomly turn-on is more annoying than dangerous. I do know a few more owners in central wisconsin that have the same problem. My sliding door electronic lock problem is a theft issue--the doors can't be locked when the locks malfunction-- and both sliding doors malfunctioned during the last year- again not under warranty.
No summary.
Intermittently power door would not unlock. In December 1998, both locks were replaced on driver's side and passenger's side doors. In August 1999, problem problem has reocurred. Dealer would repair at consumer's expense can NHTSA help in this matter.
Power lock solenoids failed. Mjs.
Although we got our vehicle in June '96, we've had repeated electrical problems. The most serious were the dashboard lights failed several times, the electrical locks on the sliding doors failed several times, the windshield wipers failed seven times!!!, the radio was replaced, the water pump was replaced, the battery was replaced, the body module was replaced 20aug97, sliding doors had to be adjusted to open properly 07oct97 mileage 9502, power distribution center was replaced 11dec97 mileage 10360, had to hold turn signal stalk down to keep high beams on at night due to faulty muti-function switch on several occasions, heater hose had to be replaced 24feb99 mileage 18494.
Slider door will not close properly/ alignment linkage failure replaced. Mjs.
Driver side sliding door failure.
Door rattles.
The driver's side sliding door does not open from outside or inside.
Sliding door continually rattles due to failure of the upper stabilizers and trim.
Sliding door grab handle is hard to depress when trying to exit the vehicle.
Despite several dealership "fixes" gas tank shifts and thumps when accelerating or stopping sharply. All electric door locks had to be replaced due to electrical "vibration"-type noises when activating. Rear brakes have "hummed" when lightly braking since new. Problem evolved into surging. Needed a complete brake job at 40,000 miles due, I believe, to lack of dealership fix before hand.
Power door lock failed.
Computer chip in right rear automatic door lock failed, door would lock but wouldn't unlock from the inside, driver had to exit vehicle on opposite side, go around to other side and unlock door from outside.
Consumer complains of rattling sounds in the passenger sliding door, the latch on the door is inoperable.
Power door locks not working on sliding doors, dealer cleaned door contacts.
The driver's side sliding door does not open from the inside. In addition, when driving the door has come open ea96-025, consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced the remote control assembly.
Was driving and sliding door came open .
Sometimes the sliding door sticks, it is hard to open .
Power door lock actuator failed. Mjs.
Experienced sliding door failure when couldn't open or close, sliding door sliding door coming off the track.
Rear sliding door locks lock automatically.
Intermittently the automatic door locking mechanism trips the power door locks whenever hitting a bump in the road or turning at a corner. This has resulted in both sliding door power lock motors to burn out and needing replacement.
When vehicle is parked on even the slightest slope, the passenger doors, when released close at tremendous force. There is no stop or slowing mechanism in place on the doors once they have been released. The door on our van was closed by one of our children. At that time, the two year old was standing near the door and whas struck by the edge. This resulted in a forehead laceration and her being knocked to the ground. My concern is that if she had been entering or exiting the vehicle, or if any part of her body were in the doorway, she would have suffered a severe or even fatal crush injury. This defect could be easily remedied by the manufacturer through the addition of a slowing mechanism on the track of the door or even an automatic stop similar to those in use with garage doors. When Chrysler was contacted, they could not have been less interested in hearing my concerns. Given that most people who own minivans do so because of small children, this design defect is a tragedy waiting to happen.
