Left side strut tower rusted through on 1999 Plymouth voyager, I noticed this after we had bought it in 2005 and was told that it would not be covered from Chrysler, found out that I was not the only one this had happened too, Chrysler made the mistake and they should stand behind it, I was getting maintenance when it fell apart, lucky it didn't happen on the highway.

Strut tower corrosion - 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Strut tower was rusted through with 65,000 miles on the odometer, asked dealership to look at it and they refused and referred me to a body shop. I received similar answers from other dealers in the area. Estimated costs for this repair is $1,600. I called Chrysler customer care and the customer care person was very rude and dismissive, and his tone was snide and scathing as I was told that I was over 30k miles out of my warranty and why was I calling their company to get help in these repairs. When I asked for a higher rep I was denied care and again, scathingly was told the problem was not theirs. After looking online I found that this issue was something reported before.
Brief history, I am 36 with a wife and two boys who are 11 and eight. Both my wife and I graduated from michigan state university where I also got my mba. I have multiple sclerosis (ms). I went on disability in 1997. I am at about an 8. 5 to 9 on the disability scale. Zero being no symptoms 10 being dead. I am in a wheelchair. I have a feeding tube, a supra pubic catheter. I will be trying an intensive chemotherapy in the next two weeks. We are on a fixed income from social security and a long term care contract. I require nearly 24-hour care so my wife cant work. Our annual income is about $34,000. We bought a Plymouth Grand Voyager handicap van in 1998 for about $40,000. This week we had the oil changed. The mechanic said one of the two towers that hold the engine in place was rusted. He said to have a body shop look at it immediately. The body shop said they wouldnt touch it (pres kool). My wife called Chrysler and an arrogant, impatient customer service representative named jay said to take it to maaco (another local body shop). They also told my wife no way would they fix it. Every place my wife took it she was told the van had way more rust all over then a 1998 vehicle should have. Another mechanic said no way should the tower be rusted like it is. My wife called Chrysler again and spoke to erika who said there is nothing Chrysler can or will do. Our warranty is up so we are left with our only transportation being unsafe. She said we should take it to a Chrysler dealer. Why would we trust anything Chrysler says when three independent body shops told us otherwise? I was certain the van would outlast me. I wish I could say I was wrong because I got better not because we bought a lemon.

The pictures are startling. The van is very unsafe.
Above are our major problems we recently had with our van. The most serious one that has to do with safety is the body work done to the left side strut tower due to rust - which also included the repair of the suspension. I reported this to daimlerchrysler under concern#11568602 asking them for financial assistance but they refused. We also had a transmission failure and air condion failure; howerver, these were fixed with no charge due warranty (below 100,000 miles), but the air conditioning failed again as noted above. Regarding other costs: these were for the front sway bar bushings and outer tie rod ends. I purhased this 1996 van in 11/12/1998 with an odometer reading of 53,841 miles.
When a left turn was made, the steering wheel locked up. Consumer had to jerk to the right to break loose then the turn signals would not cancel. Broken multifunction switch replaced. Air conditioner inoperative. Dealer replaced leaking evaporator. Fascias and rear sliding door damaged, dirty.
Transmission pump, is out now, speckled paint on hood and top, sides, back, vibration in front end steering, loud noises, creaks and makes lots of noises, back door on right side will not lock or unlock. I need help with all of these problems. The items repaired was by a friend mechanic.
Here's a leak on inside of vehicle, took to dealer, and they said that weather stripping is not sticking to a black shiny piece of metal. Dealer is saying that the strip won't stick to that type of metal.
