Wiring Problems of Plymouth Neon

Start to smell electrical burning. Then saw smoke come from steering column. Steering column hot top left. Removed covers. Wiring harness hot. Appears to be the harness for the head lights. Turn off head lights and column cooled down.

My vechile has been in the shop more the 20 times. Most of the parts where repaired more then three time. Recently my car failed check. I want out of the car because this car is unsafe it breaks every three weeks to every three to four months.

Tail lights did not work because there was a component in steering column that has burned out. There was smoke coming from steering column while traveling at approximately 35 mph. Dealership has not examined vehicle yet. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

The wirings, socket & bulb are intact when checked, could this failure and sudden wearing of the battery be related to the wiring harness recall? the recall job made in 1996 may not have lasted?.

On 6/18/98 the head gasket was replaced and subsequently failed again on 6/15/00. On 6/17/00 my a/c compressor failed to operate; private mechanic found a break in wiring harness.

Upon turning ignition to start vehicle wiring melted and smoke started to come through steering column. Please provide any further information.
