Me and my son was driving down the interstate when all of the sudden my speedometer stopped working and the rpms was going up to a dangerous zone ,I let off the gas to try and avoid a engine blow up and the rpms was still quite high, I manged to get us off with out getting ran into from behind, I went 25 mph going home at the rate of rpms at 3 1\2 to 4 ,I have no ideal as to what is going on but a few things I have read so far sounds like maybe emissions or trasmission, I live on a fixed income and disabled ,I wished I knew about all the recalls and the troubles the Voyager had before I bought it, well some one wish me luck , thanks.
Windshield wipers worked intermittently. The consumer also experienced electrical defects. The lights and radio were sometimes effected. Provide further details. Consumer feels this is very dangerous since the wipers stop working in the middle of a rain storm which leads to poor visibility.
The contact owns a 1996 Plymouth Voyager. Since November of 2003, the transmission has been replaced three different times. After purchasing a brand new transmission, it failed again the very same day and needed to be replaced again. The contact has had the top half of the engine rebuilt. The vehicle is stuck in drive and will not hold fluid. The front windshield wipers activate without a power surge in the vehicle. In addition, the rear bolts keep coming out of the shocks. The contact has taken the vehicle to have the bolts tightened three or four times. The engine is ticking and smoking. The serpentine belt slips off if it gets even slightly wet from snow or rain. The check engine light sporadically flashes on and off or constantly remains illuminated. The air conditioner was completely serviced; however, it cannot be used because of the transmission failure. The current mileage was 155,000 and failure mileage was 116,250. Update 09/10/08 updated 09/15/08.
Consumer stated that while driving without warning the electric system failed causing the consumer to lose steering control and brakes. Dealer notified. Ts.
Consumer requested reimbursement regarding the air bag recall. Also all of the spark plugs were replaced.
Electrical malfunction causing various components to fail intermittently.
Ongoing problem with vehicle losing power and unable to start due to eletrical short. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on six occasions, and nothing could be found. Problem occurs in cold / warm operation.
The power locks go up and down, the dome light flickers on and off, the door ajar light illuminates, the bell sound intermittently, the dealer adjusted the door and secured switch. Nlm.
The gas gauge indicator reading is incorrect, the gauge reads less fuel in the tank. The sending unit was replaced. Also, when traveling the rear window shattered, causing the glass fragments to enter the passenger compartment. In addition, multiple electrical problems, causing inside/accessory lights and windshield wipers to come on by themselves.
Electrical problem causes with windshield wipers, dome lights, 'door ajar' light,door locks, and turn signals on dash.
Recall # 99v216000 daimlerchrysler /fuel pump; van has been serviced under recall campaign twice. The van was serviced first right after memorial day, and serviced again about 4 or 5 days later. Fuel continues to leak from the van. Also has problems with abs and electrical system.
