Driving in the rain/snow causes serp belt to slip off. Over the last 5 years it has slipped numerous times(8+), after careful inspection of the belt and pulleys the belt was reinstalled or replaced. After the belt causing a sensor break, had mechanic troubleshoot and it was deemed the tensioner needed to be replaced and the serp belt replace as well as sensor. The car has overheated, battery drained and has become very hard to steer or steering appears to lock after losing the belt that controls all accessory functions, alternator, ac, power steering, water pump. 8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2001

My Plymouth Voyager was pouring oil profusely. Upon taking it to a dealership service dept. , I discovered I had to replace the head gasket, cam seals, and exhaust manifold, just 1900k out of my extended warranty. 3 days later a knocking noise was heard, upon taking back to dealership they said it was the timing belt, pulley, and tensioner this time. Upon questioning them whether this malfunction could have been the result of their previous work, they responded they did not have to touch these parts in the previous repair. I in turn called an independent garage who confirmed for me that these parts in fact had to be removed. Due to my mistrust of this dealership I took this second problem to the independent garage. They informed me of a problem with the Plymouth neon head gasket failure, and that I had the same engine in my Plymouth Voyager, only difference was mine has a metal plate and the neon's have a plastic plate on top. I looked this problem up, and it is huge for the Plymouth neons, so I called Chrysler to request some assistance, and currently have been turned down. Since this is one and the same engine, and since chryler extended the warranty up to 5 years/1000,000km, I feel they should at least try to assist a loyal customer of their products. The repair bill for just the replacement of head gasket, cam seals, and manifold totaled $1002. 19 with labor included. This was ridiculous, and way too costly.

Ibought the car in feburaury. I brought it back in 3 days with the the van making a noise in it they replaced the serpentene belt. I no longe herd the noise for a little while. When I bought it I was told they would fix the a/c I would have to bring it back in to fix it. I brought it back and they said it was fixed nd it only worked for the drive half way home. I then brought it back for four days while theytook aparrt the dash board and replaced the evaporator. I checked to see if the a/c worked and it did but I turned off due to little gas in the tank. The next time I used it was in April to go to the beach wth friends. It worked going up there and then on the way back it was not working and my van over heated. I then brought it to them and asked them to look at it. They then rigged a fuse to the clutch to keep the fan on at all times so it would not over heat. I felt that they were going to charge me fr it to be repaired for this time it was after the 30 day warranty so there for I was waiting to see if I could get money together to fix it. I then stated having problems with it over heating so I called them afte another mechaniclooked at it and said it was a fire waiting tohappen and things were not put in correctly, he even told them and thy told him to tell me to make an appt. So I called and they told me they could not get it until wed. I explained I had to go out of town and that it was a fire hazard. I then asked if I could bring it in to have him look att it an he said no it would be wed. I tried to have them lok and see if they could come up with a game plan. I then called them yesteday and he said I refusedto bring it inand that is not te case. I told him I was going to bring it to you and e said go a head and then hung up on me.
