Ten problems related to front air bag have been reported for the 1997 Plymouth Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Recall notice for clockspring on a 1997 Plymouth Voyager. The consumer had the recall work done prior to receiving the notice. Recall 02v293000.
While driving at 30/35 mph vehicle was in a frontal collision, but none of the air bags deployed upon impact.
Clockspring assembly replaced. The consumer received a recall notice in the mail regarding the clock spring and if the vehicle had less than 70,000 miles it would be replaced even if it appeared to be functioning properly. At the completion of the work, the mechanic said it was ok and they did not replace it. The consumer contacted the assistance center and they told the consumer the clock spring should have been replaced no matter what, but carlson still refused to replace it. Nar 01/07/2003.
While driving on rural road police officer made an illegal u turn right in front without signaling or activating emergency lights, causing the consumer to strike the front left corner of the panel on vehicle. Upon impact, neither airbag deployed and seat belt didn't retract. Took vehicle to the dealer. They found a short in the heater control module, which caused computer failure in the body control module, disabling the air bags.
While vehicle was being driven air bags deployed without a collision occurring, cause unknown. Also, in rainy weather conditions water enters vehicle from dash area, causing electrical shortage. The windshield wiper had no gasket along botton. Tire tread separated while traveling. Four sets of brake pads and two sets of rotors faile in two years period.
Without vehicle collision occurring the driver's and passenger's air bags deployed, causing the occupants to become injured.

After the dealership performed the recall regarding the air bag clock spring recall 02 v 293 000, the steering wheel started to shimmy and locked up.
