Takata inflator -- took car in to dealer to have the airbag replaced but dealer said that this car has a different model airbag that was only used on a few cars for a month a so by SAAB, so it doesn't need to be replaced. However, we keep getting recall notices all the time and I'm afraid this will affect resale of car. Can this be confirmed?.

Takata recall I received a notice referencing my 2008 SAAB 9-3, indicating parts were available and I would be able to set an appointment for the takata airbag to be replaced. I called murdock Chevrolet Buick GMC, the agency listed on the notice, and they set up an appointment for me this morning. When I arrived, they said they did not have parts and showed me in their system that based on my VIN no parts were currently available. The fact they set the appointment is their mistake, but it seemed reasonably clear that this Cadillac dealership did not have access to the parts needed. So the statement that airbag inflator parts are ready was incorrect. Please clarify how I can reasonably get my SAAB fixed. I live in northern utah so dealerships that can provide this service are limited. The noticed carried a copyright marking from general motors, and the logos of the NHTSA and the usdot.

It is public information that takata's airbags carry a very high risk since the inflator propellant degrades to the point of braking the steel housing and throwing it to the occupant causing severe injuries or death. In spite of all these facts, the manufacturer has not initiated a recall and does not provide answers after several calls to their customer office. My vehicle has a takata airbag according to NHTSA's database, the inflator must be replaced.

It is known that the inflator may explode in the drivers airbag, but what of the other (7?) airbags? aren't they inflated with the same canister from takata? isn't there the same potential for injury or death? what result is there of the testing of those airbags?.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 SAAB 9-3. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v063000 (air bags) for the driver frontal air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle had an appointment after receiving the letter six weeks later to take the vehicle to the dealer (schumacher Buick GMC of west palm beach located on 3031 okeebhobee blvd west palm beach, FL, 33409). Once the contact arrived for the appointment, she was informed that the vehicle could not be serviced because the parts were not available. The SAAB manufacturer was contacted at 1-800-955-9007, but the phone disconnected. The contact also informed general motors at 1-800-462-8782 who stated that nothing could be done because they were no longer affiliated with SAAB and offered no additional assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata recall: I recently purchased this car; I noted that this vehicle is part of the driver ab recall but can find no information on when the ab will be available for replacement. Can your provide any more information about timing and availability? I do not feel the vehicle is safe to drive after viewing how the inflator can respond. By the way, this vehicle spent time in FL and va area's so would be suspect. Please advise.
I received a saftey recall from SAAB about the possibility of the inflator of the airbag rupturing and metal fragments could pass through the cushion. They do not currently have a solution to the problem. What can I do about this? how long do I have to wait til it is fixed or something happens? can they take as much time as they need to fix the car without having any responsibilities? any information will help. Thank you.
In March 2016 I received a safety recall notification from SAAB, via usps. The letter stated: *your vehicle is involved in gm safety recall 28810/SAAB safety recall 15041. Parts are not currently available, but when they are, SAAB official service center will replace the air bag inflator at no charge. Also, when parts are available, you will received another letter asking me to take my vehicle to be serviced. It has now been over nine months and I still have not heard back from them!.
I received a notice dated March 16 regarding the airbag and that inflation may result in injury or death - there is currently no resolution for this issue. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Parts are not available, but in the mean time I could be killed.

Takata inflators: I recently received my safety recall notice for the driver airbag defect in my 2004 SAAB 9-3. I understand the circumstances and that the repair parts for this defect are currently not available. I also understand the severe implications to this defect in case of an accident. I have talked to my certified service center and they suggested I reach out to you because I would like you to issue me a written approval to authorize them to disconnect the air bag to remove the risks. The dealership told me that in the past they have received requests to disconnect passenger airbags when someone needed to use a car seat and they did not want the airbag to explode on impact. This is a similar situation, where I do not want the airbag to explode on impact due to a defective part. Since you are unable to fix this problem immediately, and I need to be able to drive the car, I cannot be driving a car that can cause serious injuries or death if I were to get in an accident. Therefore, the only option is to disconnect the hazard so the car can still be safely driven. The seatbelt is in place, along with side airbags for safety. Once you have supplied the parts to fix the airbag, then it can be installed and reconnected. Thank you,.
On April 8, 2004 my wifes 2002 SAAB convertible was struck by a vehicle that failed to yield at a stop sign. The car was severely damaged and was towed to nimnicht SAAB, the only authorized SAAB dealer in jacksonville, FL. Although the accident resulted in more than $8,000 to our vehicle and the impact zone was a t-bone type impact to the driver side door, the driver side airbag failed to deploy. As of this writing, our car remains at the dealership and has yet to be repaired. This repair delay situation has been created, in large part, by the fact that the primary replacement part necessary to repair the vehicle has been on factory back order since mid-April. Over five months later, there is still no specific time-frame for receipt of this part. To make matters worse, nimnicht SAAB has recently informed us that they no longer have interest in repairing our vehicle under any circumstances, and are demanding that we remove our car from their lot and pay them more than $1,000 in storage fees. Id be sincerely and eternally grateful if you would consider our plight and bring awareness to your viewing audience to this seemingly endless quagmire. Doing so might convince the parties involved (SAAB cars USA, nimnicht SAAB, st. Paul travelers insurance) to resolve this matter to everyones satisfaction.
