The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, a whining noise emitted from the steering column. In addition, the steering wheel became slightly difficult to turn. The vehicle was diagnosed by a certified mechanic, who discovered that there were metal shavings in the power steering fluid. The power steering fluid was flushed. The VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
