Transmission blew while driving through town. Under 100k miles and car had routine maintenance. Car will not shift and will not reverse.
Car ran fine this morning on the way to work, which is not even 2 miles from my home . Went to work and straight back no problem. Got in my car this evening to go get food started the car, check engine light came on, and my air bag light came on went to pull forward and the car was jerking and making knocking noises. . .
I have a 2007 Saturn Aura. I'm currently experiencing the issue associated with NHTSA campaign number 14v252000 (recall # 13036). Additional to this issue, I'm complaining that this issue could be associated with draining my car battery. Since this issue I have replaced three (3) brand new batteries. I had my alternator checked twice and both test results diagnosis was passed. Which means that my alternator is good and didn't need to be replaced. Each time I have my battery replaced with a brand new battery the life span of the battery is about 3 weeks. After that the battery is dead. If I don't replace the battery and get a jump start the life span of the battery last about 7-10 days before I will need another jump start. Today, August 9, 2014 I again had my battery and alternator diagnosed and both passed the test. I was told by a certified gm mechanic that my issue could be related to electrical system that is draining (killing) my battery because there is nothing wrong with the battery and the alternator. Could this issue (14v252) be the reason my I'm experiencing my battery to died/drain because of my car is affected by electrical system and electronic stability control issues? the consumer stated the shifting cable was replaced twice and the transmission needed to be replaced. Updated 2/24/2015.
I tired to start me car today but it did not start, so I put the car in neutral than the car started up. I want to a auto zone in flint,mi the guy should the gearshift cable is defect and know in order for me to put my car in park I have to use the emergency brake than get out pop the hood nd pull the gearshift forward to put the car in park.

I had just purchased this vehicle from a dealer and less then three hours after driving it off the lot I was in traffic in the twin cities and the engine gave out on me. I had braked because of a vehicle in front of me and went to accelerate and nothing happened. Luckily the vehicles behind me, on 35w, didn't hit me as I was stuck at 35mph and crawled off of the road. I do a good amount of city driving and this could have happened to me in a much worse possible scenario. I got the error codes p0700 p0776 from the engine, turns out that my wave plate broke and that this has been happening to Saturn cars for years and there hasn't been a recall. I could have easily got in a car accident and died when this happened to my vehicle. It could have easily been prevented too. I've been conned out of a lot of money by gm on this vehicle, but I'm also happy just to be alive.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that after parking, the vehicle rolled forward. The contact mentioned that she was unable to start the vehicle and it continued to roll forward although the emergency brake was engaged. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v224000 (transmission shift cable). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000. The current mileage was 141,365.
I was traveling at 55 mph and exiting the expressway when the car dramatically slowed and the transmission shifted into 1st gear. Rpms jumped extremely high and the cars transmission would remain in first gear. Luckily I was exiting at the time or who knows what the consequences may have been. The car no longer shifts in reverse and remains in 1st gear. I contacted gm and reported the incident but stated there were no recalls reflecting this problem. Wave plate shifter cable? I am now awaiting an appointment at a local Buick dealer to determine the damage done to my transmission.
I arrived at driveway to my home and put the car into park. I got out of the car and closed driver door to unlock chain on gate in front of driveway. I proceeded to manually open the 25' metal gate. When the gate was almost completely open I turned towards the car and to my surprise the car was moving forward with no one in it. The car traveled approximately 15' and was stopped by a 3' diameter metal cylinder. The cars front bumper was damaged. Luckily, no persons were injured.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shift into reverse. Also, when the gear was in drive , the vehicle would not accelerate over 5 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they had not yet provided the diagnostic results. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000. The consumer stated the transmission had to be replaced on this vehicle, which only had 73,000 miles. She contacted the manufacturer several times regarding the problem, and that was how she found out about the extended warranty. Gm issued extended warranties, on 4 cylinder models, but not 6 cylinders models. The consumer believed that was unfair, because her vehicle had the same problem. Gm, did offer assistance of $800 to get the vehicle fixed, but the consumer felt she should not have to absorb the balance of $ 3168. 25. Updated 06/23/14 updated 08/14/lj.
I've been having problems shifting from park to reverse. The car would jolt when I put it in reverse, I had this problem for 2 months before the incident happened. I was driving on the freeway my car slowed to about 15-20 mph and was not accelerating anymore, it was making a loud sound. I almost caused an accident because of the sudden speed decrease. I pulled off the freeway and my car wouldnt go past 20 mph without this loud sound and would also not go in reverse, so I pulled over and had it towed to a local auto shop. The mechanic told me my transmission went out and would need a new transmission for $3800k. My car is only 7 years old and has 64k miles. I should not be having this issue.
Transmission shift cable has detached.
My check engine light came on Monday (3/24/2014), so I drove it to my parents house after work that day. My father drove it to a repair shop on Wednesday (3/26/14). On the way to the repair job, the car stopped changing gears, and slowed to a stop. He let it rest for 10 minutes, then started it up and began driving again. After a few miles, the car once again suddenly slowed to a stop. He let it rest for 10 minutes again, and was then able to make it to the repair shop. The repair shop informed us that the transmission was completely shot. There were chewed up metal shavings, presumably from the wave plate. The transmission must be replaced. Many people have experienced this same problem according to edmunds. Com, however, gm has failed to issue a recall or refunds for repairs.
Under gm recall #12106c, dated may 2013, certain 2007 Saturn Auras were recalled due to transmission issues, namely, the vehicle was not in park despite the indicator saying so. Hence, the vehicle would roll. Problems were pinpointed to cable fraying. Gm tells me that my VIN# was not part of the recall. How could I experience the identical problems outlined in gm bulletin 12106c, but be excluded from any recall? was the VIN# range intentionally limited so as to limit their liability?.
After exiting the highway I was stopped at a red light. Upon starting to move, the vehicle stopped accelerating and the engine revved to 3000rpm at 15-20 mph. I was able to get the vehicle to a parking lot and was fortunate to not cause an accident as I was in a lot of traffic. I attempted to drive the vehicle in the parking lot under the paddle system and the vehicle would not go past the third gear. I had the car towed to my mechanic and they also noticed the car would not go into reverse. The engine light then turned on. The car has been transferred to a transmission shop who has stated the transmission needs an entire overhaul which will cost $3300-3400. They are currently repairing the vehicle. I feel there should be a recall including free repairs of this obviously defective transmission. I have read many complaints with a very similar scenario.
Put car in park. Then I shut down engine and car began to roll backwards. I was unable to start car.

I parked the vehicle at the airport in honolulu hi. Placed the shifter in park, removed the key and started to get out of the vehicle when it started rolling down the hill. I jumped back in the vehicle and used the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. It now will not shift into park or reverse. Also the vehicle will not start without disconnecting the shifter in order to place it in park.
At the mall, car sputtered 5-10 times before finally starting. As I was leaving mall parking lot doing 15-20mph, car suddenly loss engine power and began to shake / shutter. Dashboard console displayed reduced engine power and service traction. Car wouldn't go faster than 20-25mph. I had to take side streets to get home. Car later towed to dealer. Dealer found leaking fuel pump and throttle body cable connector loose/dirty. Tech removed connector from throttle body, cleaned it, added di-electric grease and re-connected it. Engine power regained. Fuel pump replaced at another garage due to cost at dealer. Note: this was 2nd time car was taken to same dealer with same problem. I was told it was "bad" gasoline and was charged about $86. 00 (not including towing charge). Also told to use premium gas at another gas company. Fuel pump problem not found even when they were told about strong fuel smell coming from rear, drivers side after car sits for awhile. Asked for reimbursement from dealer owner, but it was denied.

Intermittently the brake lights do not function correctly. When the vehicle is in park the brake light remains on. When thee vehicle is in drive, the brake light stays on. When accelerating, the brake light remains on. Other symptoms may include extended pedal travel required to shift out of park and cruise control does not function correctly.
My check engine light came on in my 2007 Saturn Aura xr. I had the codes checked out and was told that the cam sensors were bad. I had them replaced with the crankcase position sensor. After replacement the check engine light came on again and remains. I had the vehicle checked again and was told that the "timing chain was stretched and would need replacement. My mechanic suggested that I get rid of the car because of the cost of repair. This occurred just after my powertrain warranty was up. Is there any recourse with general motors regarding the repair costs of my vehicle. It appears to me that gm has known about this problem for sometime even though my vehicle didn't have any problems until last month. Thank you for any information that you may be able to give me. First it was my gear shift, I had to get it fixed back in may of this year 2013 because when I tried to put the car in park, and did not park at all, matter of fact, when I placed the car in park it started reversing, literally going backwards. I got it fixed but yet there seems to still be issues with the gear shift, just hasn't been the same. Now when I drive my brake lights stays on, but when I press on the brakes my brake lights shuts off. Very dangerous situation, and also inside my car the lights seem to flicker on my dash board and everywhere else lights are in the car so I'm assuming that's a electrical problem. Updated 08/15/lj the rack and pinion was replaced.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that after parking, the vehicle rolled away. The contact immediately applied the brakes. My car was working fine after parking for 10 minutes I came back to start my car and it wouldn't start I called my mechanic and he told me that the wire for shifting of the gears was damaged the carb wouldn't go into park and would roll on its own.
My air bags go on and off every few days ! also when I think the car in park its not sometimes I have to hit the switch put in park . Check engine light been on and off since I got the car .
Vehicle would not turn over, towed to mechanic, timing chain determined to be at fault checked policy 11340a which references other 3. 6l vehicles with the same issue - the Saturn Aura xr is not listed here, but is displaying the same issues. Vehicles covered under that policy indicate an extended warranty demonstrating knowledge of the issue, but acceptance of the full scope.
I was on my way to work, in rush hour traffic, when I accelerated after being at a stop light. Just as I started to accelerate when the light turned green I could tell the engine was racing but I was going no where. I managed to drift off the side of the road and had to call a tow truck. The car won't go forward or reverse. Dealer now putting in a new transmission at $3000. Very scary situation and now that I have gone online and seen how many other Saturn auro's had to replace transmissions I don't understand why gm hasn't had a recall/reimbursement. They obviously know that there is a problem. I have had to take a loan out at the bank to pay for this. Thank god my 15 year old daughter hasn't started driving it yet.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that he attempted to shift from drive to reverse when there was a pop in the gear shifter. The contact stated that he shifted to reverse and then into park but the vehicle was still engaged in drive. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection where they stated that the shift cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000.
On Friday, may 17th the vehicle was driven and drove normally on Monday, may 20th the car will not go into reverse and will not go forward. It was towed to a mechanic as it was completely unable to be driven. Mechanic indicated that the transmission was not operating and trying to engage three gears at once. I called a local transmission shop and they indicated this is a common with the engine/transmission in this vehicle. Estimate is $2,800 to $3,000 to have the transmission rebuilt. The vehicle only has 92,000 miles. I can only imagine what would have happened if it had this suddenly while driving in traffic.
