While driving down my street I blacked out due to an unknown medical condition my car hit a tree head on , totaled my car . My airbags did not deploy as they should have. Causing arm ,leg and face injury.
The service airbag light came on, took my car to miles Chevrolet to get it checked out. They told me my airbag module is defective. My car has never been in an accident and it's a 2008. The airbag should not be defective for both of those reasons. I don't feel I should be paying for this, and I feel this is going to be an ongoing issue. Assumingly, this may be the reason the Saturn Aura had been recalled and not distributed anymore, due to the many recalls this vehicle has had. This is a safety issue, if I got into an accident my airbags will not deploy. I am asking this be put on the recall list, as I've seen many complaints of this issue particularly with the Saturn Auras, which were only produced for 3 years, then taken off the market. Thank you for your time.

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph on ice, the vehicle slid and crashed into a median, spun across three lanes, and crashed into a hill. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained unknown injuries that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was informed that the frontal impact was not the initial impact; therefore, the air bags would not have deployed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Aura. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a building. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but diagnostic testing was not performed. The failure occurred twice. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.
Passenger airbag indicator light works intermittently when a passenger is in the seat. An approx 125 lbs person sits in the seat and it goes on for a bit and then back off. Concerned that it airbag will not deploy properly in an accident if the sensor is not working. After reading various forums, it seems to be a common problem with the Saturn Aura once over 50k miles.
"service airbags" light came on 5/12/14. Owner's manual lists this as potential hazard as airbags may fail to deploy or deploy without warning. Took vehicle two blocks from my home to service station station on 5/13/14, but station said they do not work on airbags. Took vehicle home and parked it. Sent e-mail to Saturn's customer service center on 5/14/14, and eventually spoke to a supervisor on 5/17/14. He said that in order for gm to do anything, I would have to take the vehicle to a dealership in fairfax, va. I explained that I do not believe that I should spend any more money on the vehicle as I feel that it is defective. The supervisor said that he would arrange for towing and gm would pay for it. He also stated that I would be reimbursed for repairs or compensated for the loss of the use of the vehicle and that he would work with me "every step of the way. " on 5/20/14, I called for the supervisor and someone else returned my call. When I requested that gm provide me with a written document as to how they intended to resolve the issue, I was told that this would have to be discussed with the supervisor and then they would get back to me. They did not call me back all day Monday. I called and left a message on 5/21/14 and they have not responded to me in any way. The vehicle has been parked in my lot since 5/13/14 and I don't know what to do. I am afraid to drive the vehicle because of my own history with it and the recent spate of recalls for similar issues that have involved injury and death. (my vehicle is not currently under recall but does have similar issues to vehicles that are under recall). I don't know what to do. After promising to assist me, gm now will not return my calls.
I was driving on the pennsylvania turnpike and a newer Toyota tundra made unsafe lane change and at high speeds came into my lane and made impact and pushed me into cement barrier. The truck then spun counter clockwise and collided with the front of my car. I suffered small neck fractures and severe spinal issues. The airbags never deployed and the doctor stated the front airbag not deploying created issue with the severity of spine injury. Product liability of the Saturn airbags needs to be addressed by gm.
Service airbags light has been coming off and on since 2013. It will stay off at times up to 6 months then come on every other day for a month then stay off for months. The light comes on when the car is in motion usually when on highway but has come on when driving on city streets. Dealer says its a module and will cost $800. 00 to 1000. 00 to fix. Feel this needs to be a recall item. Dealer said airbags will not deploy when service airbag light is on.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that she noticed the service air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who stated that she would need to replace the pps sensor as the air bags would not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000. Updated 01/31/11 updated 03/11/11.
Passenger air bag sensor cycles on/off every time the passenger shifts in their seat. The dealer want $1,200+ to repair this $1 part as the system is mis-designed. The passenger air bag will likely not deploy in an accident.
I drive a 2007 Saturn Aura and recently the service air bag light came on. I had onstar do a diagnostic test on it while the light was on. They onstar personal stated that the code regarding the service air bag light, meant that the airbag might not deploy if I was in a wreck. She stated that it was for the passenger side air bag. I have talked with the service department at Saturn and they stated that it would take a while to get the part because it is on back order, meaning there has been more than my car that has had this problem. I had spoken to a lady in the service department two weeks prior to my light coming on and she had stated that she was there for that same reason. She also drives a 2007 Saturn Aura. I feel that since this is such a safety issue that is happening a lot, that there should be some kind of recall before someone gets killed. Let me remind you that most passengers in the front seat of a sedan is usually kids. We shouldn't have to wait till someone dies to have something done about this issue.
Service air bags warning light came on, appears that air bags will not deploy. The car was just started in parking lot of store and was still in park. This represents a major safety issue because it appears that air bags will not deploy if we were involved in a collision. Numerous other Saturns are being recalled for this same issue.
