1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2009 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

The passenger air bag seat sensor does not sense at all times a 130 lb adult is sitting in the seat so it disables the passenger air bag. I paid the gm dealer to have the passenger seat cushion sensor replaced and now the problem has returned. The problem is intermittent and I must look over to see if the sensor detected a passenger before I proceed driving. I talked to the dealer but they do not want to cover the cost of the passenger seat air bag sensor . The last time I had it replaced at the gm dealer it cost me several hundred dollars.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

Summary: general motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2004-2012 malibu, 2004-2007 malibu maxx, 2005-2010 pontiac g6, 2007-2010 Saturn Aura vehicles. On these vehicles, over time an increased resistance can develop in the body control module (bcm) connection system and result in voltage fluctuations or intermittency in the brake apply sensor (bas) circuit that can cause service brake lamp malfunction. As a result, the service brake lamps may illuminate when the service brakes are not being applied, or may not illuminate when the service brakes are being applied. Additionally, cruise control may not engage. If cruise control is engaged, additional service brake pedal travel may be required to disengage it. Service brake pedal application may not be required to move the shift lever out of park, or additional service brake pedal travel may be required to move the shift lever out of park. Traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features, if equipped, may be disabled. Service esc and/or traction control tell-tales may illuminate with this condition. Safety risk: these conditions may increase the risk of a crash. Remedy: dealers are to attach the wiring harness to the bcm with a spacer, apply dielectric lubricant to both the bcm and harness connector and on the bas and harness connector, and relearn the brake pedal home position free of charge.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

I carried my car to the Chevrolet dealer after getting a "service airbag" message I was told that this was dangerous and that I needed to replace the passenger module and sensor. The cost quote was over $1200. 00. It is being repaired as I write. However, since they admitted that this is dangerous, since my car has less than 54,000 miles, and based on the enormous complaints, it seems obvious that this should be a recall situation.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

When driving with a front seat passenger the "service airbag" warning comes on and in the middle display on top of the dash board it says, "passenger airbag off. " when I clear the message using the clear button on my steering wheel it will then say, "passenger airbag on. " this happens several times each time I drive with a passenger in the front seat. It has been happening for several months. I took it to the dealer and after 10+ hrs of diagnostics, test driving, etc. They say I need a new passenger seat airbag module and sensor. . . . At a cost of just more than $1,000. They have had several 2007 Saturn Aura's come in with the same issue. At this point they say it is not covered by gm as a warranty issue. I think it should be. Apparently if I get in a wreck while the sensor says there is no one in the front seat when there in fact is, the airbag will not work. . . . And my passenger is looking at the potential of serious injury or death. If this is not a safety issue with this gm car, I don't know what is.

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

Remote start failed to turn over engine only signaled headlights to flash. Upon starting car with key in ignition the service engine illuminated and has not turned off to this day. Was able to bring into local Chevrolet service dept for recall 13036 for brake lamp malfunction and have diagnostic on service engine light on may 6th 2015. Dealer states current code of p0017 and history codes p2070 and p0019. Dealer claims cause is a stretched timing chain and worn guides and wants an engine tear down to replace timing chain, guides, covers and examine camshaft timing. Estimated cost is $3271 and 2-3 days to repair. Current mileage is 100,877 and manufacturer is refusing to cover any part of the repair. I have been researching this repair and seen complaint after complaint in regards to this engines timing chain failing. Complaints range over a series of makes, models, and engines and appears to be a known issue on general motors part for years and there has been no recalls or corrective actions. I also have an issue with the passenger air bag sensor intermittently turning off the passenger air bag while an adult is sitting in the seat. I was informed by the dealer that this is caused by a failing sensor inside the passenger seat. The seat would need to be removed and disassembled to replace the sensor an appx $800 repair. Again another common complaint and repair the manufacturer is refusing to cover. My car is regularly maintained with records available. I can not afford to pay $4000 in repairs that should not need to be repaired at consumers cost. These serious conditions need to be addressed by general motors and possible recalls issued. It's sad that the manufacturer dumps their consumers once they cease production of a brand or model. Please investigate and advise us unfortunate owners.

8 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The back right weld on the driver's seat frame broke, causing the seat to tilt toward the center of the car. In addition to being uncomfortable, I cannot believe having a seat that is not fully attached to the frame would be safe were I to be involved in an accident. I have seen numerous complaints on several sites regarding the same issue of the faulty welds on the driver's seat. I'm surprised to find there hasn't been a recall yet. Also having issues with the airbag sensors, for which I am also seeing many similar complaints.

10 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Passenger seat air bag sensor was replaced under warranty, 20,000 miles. Falied again at approx 45-50 thousand miles. Air bags are turned off when this happens. New fix included new wiring and sensors- plus a few hundred dollars. Gm obviously knew of the problem- they changed he wiring etc. This is dangerous becuase of the entire airbag system failing. The second fix should have been a recall- with the price picked up by gm. This failure was intermitant and generally happened while driving. This a definite safety issue.

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Saturn Aura

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Air bag started coming on intermittently around 13,000 miles. Under warranty, they replaced the weight sensor under the passenger seat. It did nothing. Took it back 4-5 times, but was not acting up while in the shop and they said there was nothing they could do. Finally became reasonably persistent about the same time the warranty was up. They suggested a $1500 fix. When it was pointed out that it was initially diagnosed at 13,000 miles, they were not impressed. No receipt for the return visits due to no charge, and they had no record. Someone is going to die, and this recall (whenever it happens) will cost them just as much and the bad press will be worse. I've been a gm owner for 30 years. Just recently purchased wife an Acura.
