Steering Column Problems of Saturn Aura

Anti theft light is on, disabling my car. When the anti theft light comes on all other dash lights flicker and my needles go up and down. My message board states all pwoer steering, service esc, and low tire air messages. I have replaced my intermediate shaft, steering column, and my bcm & nothing is working. Ive taken my car to the chev dealership for all services and they do not want to work on it anymore because they cannot determine the issue. Single mom stuck without a car now, bc gm will not recall this car for this issue.

Noticed a several months ago that it was hard to turn my steering wheel when I would back out of a driveway or parking lot and then in the last month, the steering column has started to creak every time I turn it, even while driving on the road, both city and highway. I don't believe that this is normal wear and tear because I've never had this problem with my old vehicle (1998 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme). As far as I know, nothing has happened to create this problem with the steering wheel, but I started to notice that it was hard to turn on pavement a few months after I bought it and was driving it regularly (I didn't drive it a lot at first). I also noticed that if my vehicle was on gravel, it was easier to turn, but on pavement was harder to turn. I have been driving it a lot more lately, which is when I noticed it going from being hard to turn while backing out to a creaking noise being made while turning on the road.

#1 (steering column) jars occasionaly when turning at slow speeds making it jar the whole car and also makes it hard to turn. #2 (electrical)power locks on every door but driver side does not work occasionaly. . . And passenger door sometimes does not latch and sometimes wont open when door is unlocked and car is setting still and or moving.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Saturn Aura. While driving 25 mph, the steering wheel seized and the electronic stability control warning indicator displayed prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column and esc needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched the failure and found a recall online. The contact called berger Chevrolet (2525 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512, (616) 949-5200) and was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Traveling down the road at highway speed the power steering went out and we received a 'service power steering' message. It was discovered that the torque sensor in the steering column needed to be replaced. This was a recall on several 2009 Saturn Auras outside of my VIN number?!? why wasn't my VIN included!?!?!.

2009 Saturn Aura gm needs to update the recalls on the 09 Aura. In the past 4 mos I have luckily survived 8 crashes, now, from total loss of power steering. No one @ gm/Saturn will help. They say my VIN# is not in the recall, but it is the exact same thing happening as is in the recall. . Complete loss of power steering. Triangle illuminates on dash & says esc service power steering. . . Dealer could not diagnose problem, couldnt get a code. I subscribed to on star so when it happened I would be able to get a diagnostic code, & luckily their computer diagnosed the issue, & got the codes which are the exact problems in the recalls code c0545 power steering, & c0561 traction control module not functioning. They now tell me I need a complete steering column, which dorman products says my VIN# is not in recall on steering shaft! general motors/Saturn please update your recalls< there are 1000's with the same issues in the 09 Auras, before one of us here becomes a statistic! I assume Saturn is doing nothing because they have filed bankruptcy & gone out of business. I can not drive this car & be safe!!! someone please help!! I think we need an attorney!.

The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, he heard a unusual sound that came from the driver seat and a squeaky sound that came from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer mechanic and diagnosed the fractured of driver seat well mount and failure of the steering column. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

As my daughter was leaving a costco parking lot the steering wheel locked as she was making a right turn causing her to stop immediately and some one ran right into my car. Since then the steering will locks abruptly while driving and ill have to turn the car off and when I turn it back on its not locked anymore. When this happens the steering column will begin to shake really bad! please research this I don't feel safe driving this car with two small children.

After owning the Saturn for seven years the steering intermediate shaft was replaced when there was less than 10,000 miles on the vehicle. Upon the first replacement, the issue was not resolved and the dealership stated that the problem could not be duplicated when we reported the problem. After a long dispute with the dealership, we decided to continue driving the vehicle even with the malfunctioning part. Roughly five years later the issue was addressed again because the shaft that was replaced malfunctioned to the point that the vehicle was inoperable. Now, the dealership is stating that more than the intermediate shaft needs to be replaced. In fact, the dealership told us that the entire steering column needs to be replaced, resulting in more money we have to spend to have the vehicle fixed and running properly. This final dispute with the dealership lead to being without a vehicle to drive for several days. The dealership did not give us updates on the status of the vehicle and we had to call to find out what was going on. Also, we contacted general motors to report the issue to know avail. Finally, we were told the vehicle was going to be finished on a certain date and when we were expecting to pick up that Saturn, it was not ready leaving us without a vehicle for even longer.

Power steering went out in the middle of driving. Was able to get car off the road, turn car off, turn car back on and power steering worked again for about 1/2 mile before it went out again while driving. I took pictures of the warning lights that came on. Gm dealer states everything is wrong except the recalled part. Refusing to replace recalled part. Trying to charge 600 dollars for repair of entire steering column.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the steering column was loose as though it would detach for the vehicle. In addition the steering column was upside. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the vehicle had steering issues and a wire needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the problem recurred. There was a recall for this specific failure NHTSA campaign number 14e044000(steering) howver this vehicles VIN was not included. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 154, 000. Kh.

Squealing noise in Saturn Aura 2008 steering column when engine warms up. . Some loss of steering power assist when this happens. Chevy dealer said premature failure of power steering unit. . Must be replaced for $900. Had problems since car was purchased from dealer used with 44,000 in Feb 2010.

On the steering column display the following message was displayed "power steering". This message was intermittent and went off before the car was brought to the dealership for service. On another occasion in 2014 the power steering stopped working making it hard to drive the car. Once the car was restarted the steering went back to normal and the message went away.

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. She purchased the vehicle brand new in may of 2007. The following year she heard a noise under the hood. She took the vehicle to the dealer several times regarding the noise and the dealer lubricated the steering column several times; however, the failure was not corrected. She took the vehicle back to the dealer who stated that they needed to replace the steering column. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. The dealer will replace the power steering column.
