1 Battery Dead problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 07/04/2017

Recently, we have noticed the sunroof of our Outlook started leaking into the frame of the car. We don't use it much, so it was an annoyance, it would drip water on the driver's lap after a rain. Then rainwater started leaking out of airbags in the front dash and windshield support area. Starting two days ago, after a rainstorm, the car will remain running when the key is removed, and sometimes the key cannot be removed, whether the car is running or not. The battery also dies every night, despite being a new battery and remaining on a charger. Online forums state the issue has to do with water accessing the circuit board and fuse area, allowing electrical systems to remain operating through a cross-fire or carbon-tracking, using the moisture to complete the circuit. This is a safety hazard for many reasons, not only a potential fire risk, or risk of the vehicle moving after it's been shut off, but also possible degradation of airbag systems throughout the dash and windshield area.

2 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 12/19/2015

My 2008 Saturn Outlook recently started leaking water. I first noticed that my front passenger floorboard was wet, in December 2015. After noticing this I started having issues with the rear windshield wiper continually going, I could not turn it off. I then started having trouble with the radio staying on when I exited the vehicle. Within a couple of days my car battery died and I figured this is why I was having those issues. I replaced the battery with a brand new one. On Jan 19, 2016 I got into my car on an extremely rainy day and noticed a huge puddle of water on the front passenger floorboard. I looked all around the car and could not find any leaks, nothing from windshield, sunroof or damaged weather stripping. I took out the mats and the car dried out. On Jan 31, 2016 there was another extremely wet and rainy day and once again water was pooled up in front passenger floorboard. As I drover car away water started pouring into the vehicle from all openings, ie seatbelt harness, windshield, from below dash, vents, everywhere. All of the passengers in car were getting wet. Once home I parked the car in the garage and I took out floor mats and opened up windows for car to dry out. After a couple of days the rear windshield wiper started going off repeatedly on it's own, like before. I could not turn it off, once again. Then the radio continued to stay on once the car was turned off, key removed and driver door opened. I last drove the car on wed night 2/3 and parked in the garage overnight. When I went to get in car the next morning it was completely dead. No power at all, brand new battery. Then the key got stuck in the ignition and car was stuck in garage. I had to have tow company come and tow car off to dealership. I filed complaint with gm. I see this has been a problem for others as well.

3 Battery Dead problem of the 2007 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

Bought this piece of crap car out of desperation from a pay as you go rip off car "dealership" who told me nothing about this cars faults and it's done nothing but bite me in the ass since then. Leaks like a stuck pig, causing water to pool at the floor mats, when its cole the inside of the windshield frosts. Headlights will both shut off while driving, battery died so I charged it then the radio went haywire. Opened up the battery terminal to find my battery was encased in ice due to the leaky sunroof, the battery was sparking and smoking. Windows won't go down all of a sudden. I can't wait to get rid of this car. Never again. So dangerous it's ridiculous.

4 Battery Dead problem of the 2009 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

June 25, 2014: one week after we spent $1600. 00 for an unresolved engine light issue we were somewhat hopeful that nothing else could go wrong with this vehicle. I went to unlock the car with the remote and it did not respond. My husband tried to jump start it and discovered that the battery was dead. The latest battery we purchased was in November 2013, so this was concerning to us. As we lifted the floor mat to get to the battery compartment we found mold. Once the battery cover was moved and the battery was removed we found about 2 inches of brown water at the bottom of the battery compartment. In addition, the battery which we kept had mold on it as well. We were blessed to have been at home when this occurred because the car was working the previous night with no issues. Had we been away from home this would have been a bigger issue because our children would have been with us in the hot, houston heat. This is safety concern because there is no reason that water should be in the bottom of the battery compartment. We have no idea how long the water was there and because of this I feel like we have to be cautious when it rains, even a little because the battery may die. I am glad we found this ourselves because we have pictures as evidence to support the issue. I have made this issue known to Saturn customer care.

5 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Saturn Outlook

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

Last week we had heavy rain and rain began leaking into the car near the front pillar on the passenger side. The next day the car would not start and it appeared the battery was dead. When I had it tested it showed it needed replacement. I purchased the battery and went to have it installed. While I was there I turned the car off and the engine was still running. The technician advised that the fuse box was coroded and cleaned the connections. The car continued to remain on throughout the day until it seemed to dry out. It rained again yesterday and the same issue occurred where there was water leaking from the driver side pillar near the air bag. I noticed the car staying on one time and then the next morning the car would not start. I began researching the issue and found similar complaints from other gm users. I am concerned not only about the electrical system, but potential mold and contacted the dealer as many noted there was a service bulletin. They were unable to assist as there has not been an official recall. I would urge that this be pushed as it is another known issue with gm cars that gm refuses to do anything about: 2007 gm acadia consumer complaints odi id number specific to water leak: 10258230 (this is my complaint id #) 10255735 10254149 10248331 10211267 10210839 10210533 2008 gm acadia consumer complaints odi id number specific to water leak: 10246694 10243591 10241649 10230134 10229896 10212682.
