Steering Wheel Problems of Subaru Impreza

Traveling at 40 m mph, I suddenly heard a loud pop and then the car went out of control, crossed the road and stopped in the ditch on the opposite side of the road from where I was traveling. After a tow to the service station, I discovered a snapped lower control arm on the right side front wheel. The left is very corroded as well. The skid damaged the axle, sway bar and tie rod as well on the right side.

1. I was driving and I had my right hand firmly on the wheel. Meanwhile I moved my left hand to the back side of the steering wheel. I got my middle finger stuck in the small indent (with the nut/bolt) on the driver's lefthand side on the backside of the wheel. 2. My middle finger got stuck in that indented hole and I received an electric shock. The horn/alarm was actually triggered somehow and went off while driving as a result of my finger being stuck there. I had excruciating pain in my finger. Within the few seconds that it took me to pull my finger out, it was already red, swollen, and burnt. The passenger in my car had to lean over and pull the car off onto a side road as I was in too much pain.

- the consumer blacked out and doesn't remember what happened. The consumer hit a guard rail post and then two trees. The vehicle was totaled. The steering wheel broke of from the steering column which caused the air bag failed not to deploy. Updated 03/19/07.

Steering wheel cracked, about a 6 inch gas in the middle of the steering wheel, where the airbag is suppose to deploy. Cannot determine what caused it to crack.
