Manual Transmission Problems of Subaru Legacy

While driving at a rate of speed between 15-35 mph and down-shifting the car shuts off! I lose power-steering and my abs brakes. It has happened while pulling into parking lots and also while going around corners. It seems to occur when the ac is on however I have been told by the dealer (who worked with Subaru of America tech line) that it is not an ac problem. My car has been at the dealership for a week and a half. A "reflash" has been sent to the dealers to supposedly correct the problem. Soa states my car is now fixed however they refuse to guarantee me 100% that the problem has been corrected but they insist that it is safe to drive. This is a major safety issue and I am concerned for my life and/or the life of another. No accident to date.

Transmission popped out of gear number five on highway and stripped the teeth off the gear. Had to get the transmission rebuilt now 4th gear is grinding.

I have a 2002 Legacy gt with manual 5-spd transmission. The vehicle frequently stalls or hesitates in first gear. I am an experienced driver of manual-transmission vehicles, and other drivers have confirmed that the car is easily stalled in first gear. I have heard other Subaru drivers complain about this defect, particularly on npr's "car talk" program. This issue poses a real safety hazard when accelerating into highway traffic.

Bought my Subaru Legacy 2. 5 gt last month, I brought the car in for the first servicing complaining of clutch, and transmission difficulty. When car goes over bumps, transmission twists and lurches. 5 speed manual transmission, third gear is difficult to enter, reverse grinds.

Car out of alignment, car pulls to the right even when in alignment. Ride is very rough like something is out of kilter; the transmission doesn't operate smoothly between 2nd and 3rd gear. . . Like hesitation, and acts like there could be something wrong with the gas lines or parts controlling the fuel to car; cup holder is designed so that everything wants to tip out!! it is not deep enough which could be a definite safety hazzard if something hot tips out onto passenger. I previously owned a 1993 Subaru Legacy wagon that also pulled to the right!! and the transmission (standard) was sooooo poorly geared in 1st and snd that it ate tires continually, would not move on snowy or inclined surfaces, and posed a major safety hazzard in wet or snowy conditions,,, this was a standard, non-awd model. . . And the transmission went out on this vehicle at 93,000 miles and Subaru woudl not take responsibility for any of these problems!!! that vehicle was clearly defective as this one is,,, and none of the corrections they (the dealership) has made have corrected or held so far! as for the gearing . . They say it is the nature of the beast!! as is the pulling,,, I think I have another Subaru lemon,,, and I do not want to have the same problems or worse that I had before!!!.

Spontaneously transmission will shift from 1st gear into neutral on its own. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer at 19,000 58,000 and at 65,000 miles, but is not able to duplicate defect, and refuses to fix defect.
