Vehicle Shudder Problems of Subaru Legacy

Vehicle shakes and then stalls when coming to a rapid stop and needs to be put in park to restart. This is very dangerous. I was almost smashed into on a busy highway . The this has been going on for too long and . It could lead to an even worse accident the dealer I bought it from will not do anything about it and im still paying on it. Its an as is dealership so he refuses to help.

Car shakes then stalls when coming to a stop. Stalling began at approximately 75,000 miles(November 2018) but happened only twice in 4 months so I didn't think much of it, but today 3/5/19 it happened twice(I now have 79,000 miles). Have an appointment at Subaru to have car serviced on 3/11/19. However, from reading the complaints, I don't think I am going to be happen with the outcome.

Car often shudders & stalls when coming to a stop on a city street also will sometime stall when going slow to turn into a parking space.

Wife was driving car with newborn son when she came to an abrupt stop because someone slammed on the brakes in front of her so she did and the car stalled and stopped on her nearly avoiding being rear ended. On other occasions she would stop on a hill and the car would shudder and come to a stop and die. This is a very dangerous safety concern for any of these vehicles equipped with this cvt transmission. Especially when Subaru boasts about how this transmission is completely maintenance free for the life of the car what a joke rectify the problem before somebody dies.

When coming to a stop, the car shudders and may stall. This is especially problematic if I'm turning left and the car stalls at an intersection. This has occurred on a busy city street in the northern virginia area. This has happened on multiple occasions.

2010 Subaru Legacy � gray car has rough down shifting as it comes to a stop. It vibrates or clunks like forgetting to push in the clutch if the car had a stick shift. Car stalls periodically. Car has stalled a number of times. Happens when slowing down or changing gear. Frd to rev. All are random occurrences. The problem is getting worse and worse. There are more stalls and getting closer and closer together. This is the second time and for this issue. A repair was done under warranty maybe 18 months ago. I am brining it back to Subaru today. This is the same symptoms last time (68k miles) I waited too long and car became not drivable. This is a known issue with cvt transmission in this car and must be recalled.

The contact owns a 2010 Subaru Legacy. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle made a loud grinding noise while attempting to downshift as well as upshift gears. The contact tried to reverse the vehicle, but it continued to make a grinding noise. Lou fusz Subaru of st peters, missouri was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle needed a new transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 89,700.

We purchased the car new, December, 2009. Dealer is over an hour drive from home in another state. Car is pampered and kept in garage when not being used. Just in a couple months developed a pronounced thump in the rear under the car. Intermittent, and there is a feel of the car vibrating or shimmying, if very slightly at the same time. We back out of driveway into street turning wheel to left, straighten, drive forward 80 feet to the stop sign. Accelerate and turn to the right, there is a thump from under the rear of the car. Next stop to the right it doesn't do it. Only at the next turn to the left does it make the same thump. We took everything possible that might roll, out of the car, and it still does it. Cannot seem to duplicate at the dealer. The first service we expressed concern, they looked at it and said they tightened a bushing. They have had the car 4 times since for other issues of rattles and noises, a couple recalls for defective hose and wiring and recently blue-tooth failure which we are still going around with them. They replaced sound deadening in the doors because it harmoniously vibrated at the pitch of scraping finger nails on the chalkboard, and give me the deer in the headlight look when I mention the first service and the term, bushing. When I take coworkers out to lunch, they say, what was that noise (thump), so I know I'm not imagining it. My concern is that something in the suspension is shifting back and forth, side to side, and something is going to fail, causing loss of control or death. Makes me afraid to drive car. 14 months of ownership and we only have 8,650 miles on the car, so it's not like we abuse it.

The vehicle also shakes severely when approaching a stop sign or traffic light. The vehicle must be shifted into park when the shaking occurs. Oil leak from crank case seal drips back onto exhust manafold during normal driving. Once car has stopped and is at idle the oil burns off the manafold and large amounts of smoke pour from under the hood and under the car. If ventilation system left on then smoke enters the passenger compartment. Number 2: the car shudders when turns left or right at low speeds (5mph). Number 3: the metal guides for the side window (drivers side) have scratched the glass and it can't be repaired must replace. Number 4: car started to sputter or miss after 61000 miles. It occurs only after the engine warms up.
