23 Windshield problem of the 2005 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy gt manual transmission sedan. Thus far I have had several issues with the car. 1) engine stuttering: this problem normally occurs when starting from a dead stop, or when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The engine will pause, or stutter, or hesitate, and cause the car to slightly "jump". This occurs under low acceleration as well as high acceleration. 2) clutch stink: the problem is especially notable when going uphill from a dead stop. When the clutch slips, it causes a very acrid smell, like something is burning. This issue also occurs when in rush hour traffic. 3) clutch squeak: when pressing on the clutch, especially after the car has been driven for 5-10 minutes, the clutch will begin to squeak, and cause reverberations that can be felt on the brake pedal as well. The car was brought into the dealer who verified the issue. The entire clutch assembly was replaced without fixing the issue. Then the clutch spring was replaced, and that made the squeak go away for a while, but has since returned. 4) weak windshield: over the course of normal driving on highways, the windshield has received numerous small chips from debris. Several of these have caused cracks that have had to be filled in.

24 Windshield problem of the 2003 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 08/01/2004

Windshield has a crack that starts on the passenger edge midway up the windshield and goes in toward the center toward the rearview mirror. Normally I would just think this was due to a rock chip, however I have seen multiple vehicles (same year/model) with the exact same crack.

25 Windshield problem of the 1997 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 01/11/2000

The scratch on the glass is on both drivers side and passenger side. I was told it is from the inner door metal rubbing against the glass when windows go up and or down. The mark on the glass is about and inch wide and deep enough that it will not come off. The check engine light came on during the drive home from the lot. The cause according to the dealer was that the cam belt slipped off by one tooth. The rear wheel bearings are needing to be replaced under normal driving conditions. There is no abnormal wear and considering the low 53,000 miles - this should not need to be done. Car when cold idles rough, heat sheild rattles, dash lights in center console not working, extream corrosion under car effecting suspension and making noise when turning wheel right or left.
