Takata recall I received written and email notification from Subaru this week (12/6/16) that my front passenger air bag inflator was subject to recall. Although the note claimed to be a "2nd notification", it is not. I have received no previous notification from Subaru that my airbag was dangerous and so have been driving with passengers. I now see that Subaru knew my airbag was dangerous one year ago but failed to inform me. I assume this was deliberate as they knew they did not have parts and did not want to have to provide me with a car that was safe to drive while they waited for the parts. This has put my family members at risk.

My 2003 Subaru Outback had a bad airbag inflator and has also blown the head gasket several times, requiring it to be rebuilt three times. While I love my Outback, I wonder if I will want to buy another one. Being stranded by my car and having to take the bus in the winter time was very difficult as was hauling groceries on the bus in a rolling suitcase while awaiting repairs.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Subaru Outback. The contact received notification for NHTSA campaign number: 16v358000 (air bags) for the front passenger side air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall Subaru sent me a recall notice in Feb-16. In the notice they said "what you should we are currently experiencing a parts shortage. . . Until this repair is performed, do not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat. As the parts supply improves, you will be notified with another letter advising you to schedule an appointment. . . To have the front passenger airbag inflator replaced. . . " basically, in a bid to avoid responsibility, they advised me to cut my passenger carrying capacity by 25%. I have been waiting patiently for the follow up letter to let me know to schedule the service, but nothing has arrived. I just looked online for an update and found a reddit thread that said the parts are available, you just need to schedule service, and Subaru won't be sending a follow up letter. This is inexcusable. You have people still using their vehicles with a defective airbag that could kill or maim. Subaru is sitting on their stock of airbag inflators and not notifying their customers to schedule service. I expect you, the NHTSA to oversee this critical recall and make Subaru communicate with their customers, or if they won't, do it on their behalf. Thank you for helping to keep us safe!.

Takada inflators. I received a notice from Subaru of America that "parts are now available" to replace my faulty passenger seat airbag. Putnam Subaru of san francisco will not make an appointment for this recall- they say I am #80 on a waiting list and they are on #11. I tried to make an appointment the first week in may and they said I would have to wait until they called me. I've been waiting a year. I have received a notice from Subaru not to use the front passenger seat until the repair is completed (??!!) why am I getting a letter saying "parts are now available" when they are not?.
Takata recall. Manufacturer notified us in July 2016 about inflators recall. They keep telling us that they are on order. So they keep selling new cars all the time so they are available to them. Why can't we get ours fixed?.
Takata recall Subaru case# 1-142 242 153 37 I received a recall notice about the ongoing takata airbag issue. Upon contacting Subaru my wife was informed by "kyle" that : 1) that only a "dealer" could do the repair work 2) sabaru would only cover $500 in transportation costs per the letter received: 1) "Subaru will replace the inflator for your front passenger air bag at no cost to you. " 2) "until this repair is performed, do not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat" given that I am in alaska (zip 99901) and that there is no current Subaru dealer available in my area I was told that I would need to transport the vehicle to either juneau alaska, or seattle washington, both are only available by boat and after checking with multiple shipping and ferry services the cost would be around $1800 round trip to transport my vehicle. Both my wife and I communicated this to "kyle" and again was told they would only cover $500. I proceeded to offer alternatives such as having a certified local shop do the work, or that because my area has a fair number of vehicles that they should send someone. I was basically told no and not provided any other remedy. Could you please look into this matter and find out why there is any issue in getting this repaired? in the meantime my family of 5 is having to take two cars, and now I am unable to sell my vehicle or trade it in until this issue is addressed. I am not upset about this, annoyed yes, but more importantly there are many other people in my area that simply can't afford to pay to have their cars fixed if Subaru will not honor their own commitments. Thank you for your time chris.

In the event of the crash the front passenger air bag , the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking vehicle occupants and potentially causing serious injury or death.
Under Subaru recall campaign wqr53, I was advised by email and postal mail that I should not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat until the air bag inflator is replaced by a Subaru dealer. I made an appointment more that a week ago to have the work done only to learn today when I kept the appointment that the dealer did not have the part in stock, and that it would be "weeks and weeks" before the part arrived. I am thereby deprived of the normal, safe use of my car for that time period. The dealer offered a rental car but will not store my car in the interim. I have no place to park an extra car. I would like to receive another form of compensation and thereby be made whole.
Takata recall: notice was received 19 Feb. 2016, NHTSA recall no. 15v-323, Subaru recall campaign wqr53. Autonation Subaru west, 16351 west colfax avenue, golden, CO 80401, (855) 503-3943, will not even enter my car in a wait queue. I must repeatedly call them until they have the inflator "in their hands" and then they will provide an appointment for me. More than 60 days have elapsed and I still cannot carry a front seat passenger! Subaru of America, inc. Should know this! thank you, ernst a. Kemper, 8641 west warren lane, lakewood, CO 80227, 303 985 5225.
Takata recall - I have children and my Subaru dealer is telling me I am not in a high priority group to have my airbag inflators replaced. I got a notice saying people should not ride in my passenger seat until it is fixed, but this is an impossible scenario for many people including myself and my family.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Subaru Outback. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v323000 (air bags) for the passenger side air bag inflator. The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Takata inflators. I keep getting notices from tk holdings telling me our Subaru might be involved in a recall. Just tell me if it is or isn't. I'm tired of fighting websites designed by morons where I never get an answer and phone numbers only lead you to recorded messages that tell you to to check a website. So far nothing has happened because we have not driven into another object.

This car is on the list for recall, but when I put in the VIN it says that there is no open recalls. What gives? I have contacted Subaru of America and they confirm that my car has a takata airbag inflator on the passenger side. Why am I not getting a recall notice?.
