Suzuki Forenza owners have reported 12 problems related to car stall (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Suzuki Forenza based on all problems reported for the Forenza.
Vehicle sporadically stalls while driving, not a stop light or sign but while the car is actively being driven and the accelerator is depressed. Most recently it has begun to rev up between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm. When this happens, I put the car in neutral to try to get it back to normal. 2 days ago when this happened it caused me to hit a pot hole hard enough to break my driver side ball joint and lower control arm. I see recalls for other, same year model Suzukis that experienced this same issue. I don't think I should have to pay to repair a known mechanical defect. There is also an NHTSA id describing this issue as well. It is extremely scary to have the car reving that high and trying to control it. I am thankful that I only hit a pot hole and not another vehicle or worse.

I bought a 2005 Suzuki Forenza. I had no idea that these cars are so hazardous. On the second day after my purchase, the car suddenly went into reverse on the highway in rush hour traffic. I was lucky enough to get it out of reverse and coast to the shoulder. I have since found out this is an ongoing defect that, and that there are many more. I also found out that Suzuki has been made aware but sits back and does nothing about it. This car has the potential of being deadly and needs to be removed from the market so that people like me aren't forced to drive something so unsafe. I can't afford the costly repairs and I can't sell this car. I am scared to death that in one of the many stalls some one is going to hit me. It should have never been on the market to start with. I am confident that if someone hasn't already been killed because of this defective car that they will be.

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the contact heard a noise as the vehicle stalled. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the engine had fractured. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle previously jerked. The engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the engine warning light remained illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.
Was driving and transmission range sensor went bad and car jumped out of gear no warning. Traffic behind almost collided. My 4 year old was in back seat. Very scary. Called Suzuki and they said this is an extremely common problem considering my make, model, mileage. So why am I, a single disabled mother, responsible for getting a well known, unsafe manufacturer issue repaired. . . . . I can't afford this and from what I was told most people with similar issue had this problem not only once but few months after getting repair done. This is extremely unsafe! car shifting and stalling while at full speed! me and my son could have been seriously hurt! planning to call Suzuki customer relations to see if they can fix issue because it is not fair that I have to come up with way to repair such a dangerous problem so many Suzuki owners have experienced.
The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle approximately fifteen minutes after the failure. The contact was able to secure an appointment with the local dealer for diagnostic testing of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
I bought my car 3-29-09. At 4,000 mi. I began having problems. At 57,059 mi. 4-9-13 was the 18th time my car has been in for svc. I'm on my 3rd dealer (orig. Out of svc. ) I am having my 3rd trans installed. Can someone say "lemon law ?" 1st they could not find the problem as no codes were shown by the computer. My car at one point was at the dealer for 34 days straight! at times it would not even go into gear or would just die. I have had the tcm, ecm,& trans range switch replaced multiple times. Since oct 2012 have getting an intermittent ck eng light, I was finally able to bring it in on 3-29-13 & the ecm was replaced. On 4-8-13 I was barely able to make it in to the shop as my car was stuck in 3rd gear and I was on the hwy the ck eng, light was on. It was the trans range switch again! it was just replaced oct 2012. Mon. Eve. The car would stall in neutral when in drive, slam into gear, the ck eng light remained lit, it was stuck in 3rd gear and the newest development was that as I was driving on the hwy, the lit d (drive) by the odometer was flashing normal & then with a line through it. I got to the dealer, pulled the code & the trans needs to be replaced again! I have absolutely had it with this car and am attempting to re-instate my arbi- tration with them (I dropped it when the supposedly fixed the prob. Last yr). 14 of visits were major. Suzuki's tech explained to me that there is an engineering design flaw. My car is dangerous and I no longer want my life in Suzuki's hands. I cannot continue to drive a care that can become faulty at any time, especially when I am driving 55-65 mph on the hwy and the car gets stuck in third gear! my husband has also had the engine die on him while driving. (I took a short video with my phone that shows the ck eng light on and the d flashing with a line through it. Every time that the ck eng light comes on lately, it's a new code.

: the contact stated the vehicle stalled out while driving at 5 mph and occasionally would not start. The problem usually occurred while stopped at a stop light and attempting to pull out. The vehicle would restart after three attempts. The dealership had the vehicle for two months, but the vehicle was still having the same problems. The dealership determined the ethanol being put in the gasoline was affecting the way the vehicle was running, but could not offer an explanation as to why. Updated 9/15/2006 -.

I brought a 2006 Suzuki Forenza on July 11, 2006. In two or three days I noticed something wrong in the way it was driving. I took it back and the general manager drove the car and stated nothing was wrong. The next day the car would not start. I took it to the dealer they stated it was a software problem and it needed new spark plugs. The car wouldn't start again. I was told it needed an upgraded software. The car doesn't start it sounds as if it wants to cut off and it drives rough and stalls. This car is brand new and montgomery keystone motors were fully aware of this and still decided to sale me a lemon. I have contacted an attorney regarding this.
Rough idling problems / no start problems after owning new 2006 Suzuki Forenza three days. First time happened at gas station. Took four attempts to get car running . Happened intermittently. Took car to dealership. Replaced spark plug and installed new computer. Same problems occurred two days later. Have had newer problems occur. Car on four occasions has almost died while driving, warning lights coming on when they shouldn't. I contacted manufacturer about the rough idle/no start problem. Am in process with them now to try to get a refund. Problem is thought to be with software glitch downloading improper fuel data into cars computer. Rep from manufacturer said software downloaded usage of summer fuel rather than winter which is why I have had the problem with intermittent rough idle , no start, car trying to die while driving. It is my understanding there is a fix for automatics but not for manuals like mine. Although rough idle and no start problems are more of an annoyance , the car trying to die is more of a concern which I feel is a safety issue.
: the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the engine lamp illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer numerous times. The dealer replaced the transmission and a sensor in the engine; however the problem remains.
2005 Suzuki Forenza stalled without warning. Consumer would like it replaced under lemon law. The consumer stated the vehicle would shift back and fourth while driving. The dealer found internal transmission failure. While driving, the engine would loose power. The dealer found the brake light sticking from the switch.
