"takata recall" gear shift keeps slipping and maybe the cause of needing a new transmission. Had to turn car off in middle of traffic because gear slipped. When car was in drive a symbol popped up with a d with a line though it! took it to o'reilly and put it on machine about 3weeks after the first time it happened and it read some codes about gear and transmission and an employee there said gear slipping could have been the cause of all the other problems!.

While driving the car on the highway the light for the engine came on and the car died. After being towed it was determined that the head was blown. After replacing the engine the light remains on and now there is a problem with the transmission. There is supposed to be a defect in a sensor for the transmission that keeps these problems happening in this vehicle.
The transmission range sensor on Suzuki Forenzas and other models has been shoddy at best. My car currently has 65000 miles on it and I have replaced the trs 3 times getting ready to be a 4th. This is not a sensor that should need replaced regularly. I have had the vehicle slip out of gear at speed due to this and can never accelerate when I need to. Im afraid that if I need to accelerate to avoid a collision I wont be able to. This is a safety hazard and NHTSA needs to investigate. They have more then enough complaints to see this is an issue and they need to act before someone gets killed.
Car headlight shut of on me while driving down road along with air conditioning and windows they all shut off on me while driving windows would not go down and I had to pull over near the nearest store and cut car off thanks I turned it back on and they all srarted working accept the air that didnt start working again till about thirty mins later car also jumps when pulling out of park in to drive or reverse really hard jump the car headlights also flicker when pressing windows buttons to go down tire sensor light wont go out car also has a hard time accelerating going uphill u have press down all the way on gas for it to go.

When putting the car in gear in either reverse or drive, there is a loud thunk and jumping feeling. There will also be an 'x' on the instrument panel next to the 'd' for drive on the shift selector. I have researched what the problem could be and it is the the range transmission sensor, it appears after researching this is a very chronic problem in the Suzuki Forenza.

The car indicates that it is no longer in drive. Even though on the shifter it says it is still in drive. Also when driving down the road the car will come out of drive. To fix the problem you must pull the car into third gear, wait a few minutes then put it back into drive.
Recurring event air bag lamp keeps turning on never been in accident had it replaced twice Suzuki dealer was off for years, now has come back and stayed on for months. On 3/20/2014 car sputter lost power was able to park it in a parking space not able to turn back on, problem fuel pump went out. 8/28/2014 recently, while driving my car, my Suzuki Forenza 2005 lost complete power: when checked the believed problem is 4-3 shift malfunction p1884 manufacturer cont trans and p0700 trans control system malfunction. My mechanic told me to get a hold of Suzuki, to see if under warranty, if its going to be recalled or where it can be repaired, still trying to get a hold of them.
My engine died while driving. My battery (which was replaced 7 months prior) also died. When I tried to get a jump start, the engine would run for a few moments before dying again. I had the vehicle toed to a lot and haven't been able to afford repairs, so I had it scrapped.

While sitting at a stop light or stopped for more than a minute and its hot outside, the car will just turn off. If I put it in park it will start right back up. It only seems to do this when it is hot outside. Please look into this matter. Mechanic has replaced and looked everything over and cannot seem to find anything.
I recently lost my car which was a '07 Suzuki Forenza to what has been described as a mechanical car fire brought on by some sort of mechanical failure. I believe this was a culmination of a series of failures over time despite whatever action I took to avoid it. Initially I encountered intense flickering with my headlamps. Headlights would stay on even after removing the key from the ignition. I believe that the consistence of this occurrence, has caused my vehicle's battery to fail. I ultimately had to have the battery replaced. I would also have a toxic smell come through the ventilation system from time to time. It smelled like something burning and melting. However, I was never able to determine what it was. This was going on intermitently for quite sometime. Then eventually my car was lost to the mechanical car failure fire. I was fortunate to get out of the vehicle with only minor injuries such as burns and smoke inhalation. Incident date: 12/28/2013 incident location: lake worth florida palm beach sheriffs office / lake worth police case # 13161702.
I will be driving and the shift gear will automatically shift into another gear. Or I can start the car and the gear will not go into drive and it will not go forward. I have called about getting this fixed and I was told that alot of complaints has been made for this problem on this type of car, and it is very dangerous. . . This will cause a automatic accident if not death.
My car loses power while car in in motion, also, ac will not power on , but after some time it will power on. Malfuntion light stays on at times, and will go off at times, but for now it is on , and has began to blink. Car has burning smell at times as well, like plastic is burning or something.
Why isn't any thing being done about this problem with the transmission range sensor!!!!! Suzuki needs to acknowledge that this a serious problem. I initially just got on here to file a complaint and started reading there are alot of people with this same issue. Please take some kinda of responsibilty for this issue. I have had to fix my transmission range sensor more than once. This week will make the 2nd time in a year! I was driving in a 35 mile zone and my car would not even go the speed limit a car alot rammed me from behind. It sloes in the middle of traffic and sometimes wont go backwards. Something needs to be done. It seems clear that there is an active issue with the transmission range sensor in Suzuki Forenzas.
I was on the highway when out of no where my car jerked and slowed speed. I almost got rear ended. I then tried to accelerate and it drug. Instead of catching back up to speed it took a minute to reach the speed of what was posted. And since then its been very hard to drive. I took it to shop they said I need a new transmission range sensor. They also said this is a very common issue with Suzuki Forenza. But its very dangerous I do feel that this should qualify for a recall. For a reference the Suzuki dealer sales the transmission range sensor for $38. 99 and the mechanic charged $25. 00 labor.
My transmission range sensor has been replaced twice, both within a 12 months time frame. Both times my car jerks at low and high speeds and my engine light is invoked. The second time the dealership replaced my transmission range sensor. . . The very same week my vehicle is still experiencing the same exact issues, inclusive of my engine light coming on and staying on for 3 days. Upon return, the dealership says my jerking, hard gear shifting and on board engine light is being caused due to an engine skipping issue, which is "possibly" due to the electronic control module not communicating with the transmission control module. I'll have to pay the dealership $210 to see if the connector between the ecm and the tcm is bad, and if its not bad, I still pay the $210, but then they'll tell me what the next possible step would be?? I feel I'm in a no win situation, it sounds like, just keep writing checks. My issue sounds the same as the countless others that have been documented, my issue should be covered since Suzuki is more than aware that these are known issues.
The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle erroneously slipped out of gear and jolted. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the spark plugs, engine head gasket, and trans range sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the same failure on several occasions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 45,500.
Started car put it into reverse to back out, aloud "clunk" noise was maid and the car had trouble accelerating. Not it often slips into neutral while driving or will only accelerate in third.
In less than 2 months, I've had to replace several parts of my car that I don't believe is part of regular service maintenance. Thermostat, coolant hose, spark plugs (twice in a year), brake lights and headlight bulbs (replaced twice in a year), transmission control module and motor mounts because of the tcm that made my car jerk all the time whenever I accelerate. Either at a traffic light or on the freeway, my car hesitates to accelerate and jerks every time I shift gears. Now, possibly the transmission range sensor needs to be replaced (I am currently in the process with this one). I'm afraid in the next few months, I'll be spending more on car repairs than the car is worth and it's only a 2008!.
The car will not come up to speed when pulling into traffic. Transmission jerks violently and car will not speed up to enter traffic safely. Turn the car off service light goes away, back into traffic and same issue. Car will not go to speed to enter traffic safely!.
