The backup camera system is not available, no camera visibility on any of the cameras, no sensors detection, blinkers only lit for 2 seconds and after that they are turned off automatically. Vehicle is not safe to drive with the risk of system failure while driving.

The fsd feature for which we have paid in full to Tesla does not work. No cruise control and no assisted steering control or cruise control works. As per their service department, ap4 car computer has internal short and camera can not communicate for above mentioned features.

All of the camera systems are not working (inlcuding the back-up camera), and navigation has failed as well. Followed all instructions on telsa manual and website, with no luck. Saftey features promised by the manufacturer don't work because of this. No warnings have appeared. I have scheduled service,at the soonest available time slot of December 27th, but I'm concerned about this happening with a brand new vehicle with on 2,015 miles on it and a 12-day wait doesn't seem acceptable for something that affects safety.

All cameras on the car are currently "unavailable" and does not display anything. The lack of cameras impact the ability to see the rear when going into reverse since the rear camera is not functioning. No forward collision warning, no automatic emergency braking and no parking collision warning because all rely on the cameras to function.

All the cameras on the car failed. There is no rear view backup camera. There are no side cameras. Gps doesn't work. The headlights go crazy during the day or night. Flashing brights and blinding people on the road. I need to manually adjust the lights every time. The screen will stay in dark mode during the day. And day mode during night. There is no cruise control, warning systems, etc.

Widespread issues acknowledged privately by Tesla service managers, advisors, and engineers. Affects all models built from July 2024 to present with most recent “ap4” computer and hardware, primarily out of fremont factory. Suddenly, computer is short circuiting. This results in multiple systems failing given effectively all systems are dependent upon this “ap4” computer and hardware, and initially causes gps and camera sensors to fail also. This system failure includes: -federally required rear view vision system -adaptive cruise control -automatic emergency braking -blind spot warning -forward collision warning -lane departure warning -lane keeping assistance -parking collision warning -rear cross traffic warning -visibility and wiper systems -all external lighting systems -speed control internally, Tesla service advisors and managers are being told to advise customers that vehicles can be safely driven until fixed - which is currently diagnosed to be a removal and replacement of this “ap4”, which is heavily supply chain restricted. Customers are being told to wait “weeks” - with estimations in January and February - for this to be fixed. Service advisors and managers are being told to not acknowledge clear safety concerns given vehicles are no longer compliant with all applicable federal laws and regulations, such as those requiring rear view vision field of view expansion, etc. Further, internally sales advisors and managers are being told to continue heavily pushing sales to meet record sales targets to impact stock price. Several private conversations regarding ethical concerns of pushing noncompliant and known defective vehicles for stock value and potential criminality. Service advisors and managers also privately concerned regarding legal liability of impacted and defective vehicles in accident, given Tesla is communicating to continue driving. My own personal vehicle has been impacted, and information above has been gathered privately.

Bought my Tesla Model Y on [xxx]. Exactly one month later on [xxx] I start my car to find that none of the cameras are working. This means autopilot, cruise control, rear camera, blind spot monitoring and many more safety features are completely down. In addition the gps does not function meaning my car is not trackable and maps don't work, another safety concern and main reason we bought the car. This is a widespread issue that Tesla service centers have been informed about from Tesla that it is a bad computer that needs to be replaced - in a 1 month old car. My only option is to wait for a computer to be assigned to me which is at earliest on January 21st of 2025, almost 6 weeks without a fully functioning brand new $46,000 car with only 1400 miles on it. Tesla are also unwilling to make any kind of restitution such as a loaner car, or a refund for the full self drive and connectivity packages I just purchased but cannot use as my car is broken. Cameras have stopped working completely. Unable to use rear collision warning capability. Additionally, lane departure capabilities are not working. Navigation is unavailable.

All adas options no longer work. Everything related to the cameras on my car are not working including rear view camera.

Several malfunctions: all cameras including rear cameras were disabled, high beams would flash on and off continuously when in auto mode. Front passenger safety restraint failure alert message that eventually turned off. The car continuously has a humming noise even after turned off. Navigation system was not operable.

All cameras stopped working. With this, all safety features are not working. I can’t see to back up at night. No collision avoidance, no lane departure warning, high beams don’t stay on, turn signal doesn’t stay on. It has been two weeks and Tesla has no fix. There was no warning, just noticed it one day as I was driving it and was very dangerous in dark snowy conditions. I called Tesla service immediately and they gave me an appointment for following week. Then next day I got message from them that there are a large number of vehicles having the issue and they said they don’t have a fix for it and moved my appt out 7 weeks. I have gotten no help from them and I told them I don’t feel safe driving the car. They have not provided another car.

My navigation and all cameras abruptly stopped working when I was headed home from work on 12/2. When I entered the information for Tesla service it was automatically switched to ap4 computer short. I told the service center this Tesla is not safe to drive and is lacking all safety feature and asked for a loaner, but was repeatedly denied. My service appointment continued to be pushed by from 12/6 to 12/16 to 1/6 now. When I asked again for a loaner I was told no and that the issue was widespread causing the computers to be in back order.

The cameras stopped working on my brand new Model Y Tesla. I filed a service request Dec 4th and it keeps getting pushed back (currently Dec 26th with no eta on part availability) because this part has a widespread issue on newer Model Ys. They are saying it is “fried ap4 computer, remove and replace”. I just purchased it from Tesla in November. It only has around 1500 miles on it. I can’t use any cameras on my car including backup cameras, forward facing cameras, side cameras. No forward or rear warning or brake assist items work. It’s incredibly difficult to see out of the rear window when backing up without the cameras. The camera and gps failed with 3 weeks of taking possession of this new lease. After several days in the shop, Tesla informed me the main computer was broken and needed to be replaced, but it was back ordered. They asked me to reopen their loaner and drive this defective car, until the computer comes in.

All camera and navigation systems stopped working on 11/30. With no cameras working, there are significant blind spots when driving. I cannot see anything when the car is in reverse due to no backup camera and the mirrors are stuck in a dark "tinted mode" further decreasing visibility when driving. The local Tesla service center says they do not have parts in stock to fix the issue. They have repeatedly delayed any scheduled service appointments, without offering any solutions. The car feels very unsafe to drive. There were no prior warnings of the issue, it just stopped working.

Hello, I have a 2024 Tesla Model Y (fremont build) that was purchased in early September 2014. On or around November 30th a software update "fried" the computer according to Tesla. The call the computer ap4. . . Anyway, they have no ability to fix the issue because of lack of parts. They make an appt for you and then keep cancelling it. I've had two so far that they cancelled because of not having parts. There are thousands of users on reddit complaining about the same thing. My specific complaint, is this is a safety issue for the Model Y in particular because the mirrors and rear window are inadequate for this size of a car. Visibility to the sides and rear of the car are poor when compared to other vehicles. The rear window and rear view mirror are very small. You cannot see much out of it especially when backing up. Parking in a parking lot is very problematic and dangerous because that's where people are often walking around. The side view mirrors are better than the rear view, but the driver side mirror keeps self adjusting while driving and I have to keep messing with it which makes it unreliable for use. Tesla has been awful in keeping up. Please help!.

I took delivery on a 2025 Tesla y on oct 17. All cameras and gps stopped working on Nov 30, including the backup camera. Based on posts online, this problem is widespread but Tesla has not sent any notification. Tesla service says the computer has to be replaced and there is a lengthy delay in getting the replacements. My appointment has been moved twice, from Dec 5 to Dec 9 and now to Jan 9. For months, many people will be driving without a backup camera in a car not designed for visibility. It’s a real safety issue and at a minimum Tesla should warn current owners of the problem and stop delivering the cars that will likely be impacted. Instead, I have been unable to get any acknowledgement from Tesla that this is a known or widespread issue. They are also not making loaner cars available while waiting for the part to fix the problem. I’ve been told “it’s not a safety issue. ”.

Cameras not working with latest software update on November 26th. Without even inspecting the car in-person, Tesla service agent told need new ap4 computer on 2024 Model Y which is 1 month old . I think Tesla knows about this issue and there is lot of wait time for getting the ap4 computer. Tesla service advisor states - car is totally safe to drive with just mirrors till appointment in few weeks. As per NHTSA, if a car is not having a backup camera, that is a safety violation and there are lots of Tesla vehicles driving without backup cameras. No backup camera, navigation, battery life dying faster. It seems like a liability to me to drive this way and very negligent to me.

All the cameras for the Tesla Model Y has stopped working, without this lots of features stopped working including rear camera which is needed to reverse to charge the vehicle and anyware to park. All the collision warning systems including front and side stopped working. Wipers don't activate and figured to change to manual. Headlights always stay in highbeam. Looks like there are known issues and Tesla claims they don't have hardware to replace making us to not use the car for almost 30 days.

The rear (reverse) camera and side cameras (ie lane change) do not function. The navigation does not function. The console touchscreen does not adapt to environment light level for safe viewing.

Back in late November 2024, Tesla pushed an over-the-air (ota) update to my 2024 Tesla Model Y. Immediately after pushing this ota, all of my car's cameras stopped working (including my rear or "backup" camera). This is in violation of federal law as all new vehicles are required to have a backup camera. Additional safety-critical items were also impacted: the rear-view and both of the side mirrors remain tinted to the darkest level, reducing my visibility. The side mirrors are also tilted in the "downward" position, making lane changes incredibly difficult. Since the front-facing and side-facing cameras do not work the vehicle's forward and side collision detection systems are inoperable. The vehicle suffers from additional failures (gps navigation, maps, autopilot, among many others). I have presented these issues to Tesla and they have continously pushed out my repair date. I have also asked for a loaner vehicle due to the failure of the car's safety systems (some of which are federally mandated!!). Tesla has ignored my pleas for a loaner vehicle and has also remained silent when I have repeatedly asked to return the vehicle under washington state lemon laws. My safety and the safety of others have been put at grave risk due to the backup camera and collision detection cameras not working. Tesla has not inspected the vehicle as they continuously push my service date further out. No obvious warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appear. The user doesn't know these federally-mandated safety features are inoperable until they put the car in "reverse" or attempt a lane change.

2025 Tesla Model Y cameras and sensors all stopped working within 700 miles driven from brand new. Affected systems included all cameras, including backup camera, as well as gps navigation, with the gps system believing the vehicle to be static at a Tesla facility in California. This not only prevented the self-driving and navigation from functioning, it caused numerous safety features to be disabled including (mandatory) backup cameras, collision-avoidance system, lane-departure warning system, cross-traffic alert system, rear collision avoidance system, and automatic safety braking. Upon reporting to Tesla, was told a "new component" was required, which later was told was a new computer. The manufacturer initially set a date 2 weeks in the future for a repair; then they pushed it a month; then tried to push it another month before I pushed back. This resulted in it being taken in earlier than the repair date. The vehicle is still awaiting repair. There were no warnings of this failure, it simply all happened at once. Upon confronting Tesla service with this being a known issue [xxx] ) and requesting a loaner for the meantime, they eventually found one, but only after great protestation and pushback, with eventual threats of legal action leading to a more personal touch. The display of the rear view camera on the screen is not synched. Sometimes it shows something that happened moments earlier. For example, it may show me as I am walking toward the car. Then it “lags” as you back up, meaning that it shows you in an earlier position than where you really are. This is super dangerous as it may not show the real time presence of another car, a pedestrian who is crossing behind your car as you back up, or an object. It also give the driver the false sense of being in the wrong place. We have two Teslas, this is a Model Y and the other is a model 3. We have experienced the same problem in both since Tesla pushed a software update in January. I notified Tesla and asked for a repair. The response was that a software patch would be forthcoming. That was weeks ago. Again, this is a super dangerous flaw in the software for the display of the back up camera. I am worried that a pedestrian will get run over by a Tesla driver who does not “see” that pedestrian in the back up screen, or a crash.

The contact owns a 2020 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving approximately 3 mph and in reverse gear the rear view camera display began to drop frames and was not displaying live action. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had a manufacturer technician go to his work location who diagnosed on a laptop and stated that there were no issues with the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired and the contact stated that the failure was ongoing. The contact stated that he did have a back-up crash due to camera failure. The contact's rear bumper crashed into the front bumper of another vehicle. The damage was minimal, only scuff marks on the contact vehicle and the other vehicle. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
