Car was running perfectly. Brakes were services 6 months ago. Traveled from nc to FL for holiday. Started car maintenance light went on showed air bag indicator light with ear piercing buzzer. Went to drive car to Toyota service department and had no brakes. They would work slightly but to dangerous to drive. Did not have brakes.

Abs light ;po500 code speed sensor a speedometer not working, wont shift into gear with abs light on windows malfunction and all electric windows stopped working possibly due to same abs circuite as noticed same exact timeframe. Apart from that prior malfunctions include airbag light stays on needs restting from dealer and also horn does not operate. Missing/no factory installed fog lamps --dealer wants over 1,200. 00 for 2 basic fog lamps from their parts dept.

The airbag light in my '06 Toyota 4runner is on and won't turn off even after letting it idle for "6 seconds" as recommended by the recent letter from Toyota that I received. I have been informed that an official fix/recall for the airbags will not be available until September 2016. The takata airbags have killed and permanently maimed people thus far. Fingers crossed that I can make it until September without being killed/injured by my car.

The airbag light appeared while I was driving, I was googling why this happened and came across a forum talking about similar incidents. I was reading that after the light appeared most of the same year and model the airbags are exploding while driving. I am concerned with my safety and my family's safety. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag spiral cable would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

My vehicle has been preforming perfectly with no accidents or other collisions until the other day, when I turned on the vehicle and the check airbag light was on. I took it to the dealer and they said that there was a faulty wire and that the airbag was partially deployed and that I would have to replace the entire air bag unit. The dealer stated that because the car was out of warranty, that I would have to pay for all repairs. The car is undriveable because of an internal defect and not because of any fault of my own. This is Toyota's responsibility to correct.
