The car steering is hard to turn until it warms up. I took the steering to the repair shop for flushing 12/3/2015 but this has not solved the problem. The steering continues to be stiff/hard when turning. I don't know what the problem is. It is the only car my family uses and this is increasing making the car unsafe to drive.

The power steering on my Toyota Avalon keeps getting difficult to turn. The maintenance garage has fixed it once indicating it was a "steering shaft lubrication problem". Now it is doing the same thing again. Steering is hard to turn then sometimes jumps because the power steering "kicks-in".

My 2004 Toyota Avalon xls had a problem. I was trying to go to my office in the morning and the steering wheel was very tight & hard to turn. There was no accident or road potholes involved in this case. When I took the car to the Toyota dealership in erie, pennsylvania, the Toyota manager told me that the intermediate steering shaft is bound up/twisted. It is very shocking to me that such a reputable Toyota car had this life-threatening problem. If I was on the highway, I would not have been able to turn my vehicle and would have went off the road.
