The vehicle was proceeding on the freeway when the drivers side rear tire blew out and went completely flat. The low pressure tire warning system that alerted us never indicated that the air pressure was low or getting low, but rather it had instantly dropped to 0 psi. There was no integrity left to the tire which posed an extreme safety hazard to the stability of the vehicle. Upon contacting bridgestone I was asked to have a third party company inspect the tire to which we complied. The inspection revealed that the tire had suffered a failure due to a manufacturing defect and not wear/tear or accidental damage. The tires equipped on the vehicle are approximately one year old with less than 3,800 miles on them. Bridgestone is refusing to honor a replacement due to their defect unless I purchase an extended warranty for all 4 tires. Tire size: 215 / 55 r 17.

The contact owns a 2016 Toyota Avalon equipped with cooper tires, tire line: cs5 ultra touring, tire size: 215/55/r17, dot number: u93r1cu1820. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front end of the vehicle was shaking abnormally without warning. The contact took the vehicle to a tire shop and was informed that the tread on the driver’s and passenger’s side tires were separating. The contact's husband drove the vehicle to the original tire shop where the tires were purchased and was offered a store credit for the replacement tires. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tire was a replacement tire. The tire failure mileage was approximately 6,000, and the vehicle failure mileage was 84,575.

Bridgestone turanza el440bw 235 45r18 94v is original equipment on my 2021 Toyota Avalon hybrid. Mileage at the time of the incident was 11398. I saw what appeared to be splitting or separation of the lower depth of the tread. No loss of pressure. I brought it to the Toyota dealer to check. They insisted I must have hit something and would not consider it a manufactures warranty. I replaced the tire out of safety concerns. I do not recall hitting or going over anything. I am attaching photos of the condition. I replaced the one tire with the same make and model but remain concerned that splitting of the tread could be dangerous. And still have 4 like tires on the car.

Tire size 225/45 r 18. The tire had slightly over 3,000 miles on it. 1. Rear driver side tire that is in my possession and available for inspection, but is in 2 parts. 2. My wife and I traveled from brandon, ms to birmingham, al for a medical appointment early the next day. In tuscaloosa, al driving in right hand lane approximately 60 mph the handling became rough, the tire blew out, causing loss of control and throwing the vehicle in center lane, fortunately no other vehicle was there, I regained control and moved to side of road without out any physical injury. 3. After attempting to change the tire, a wrecker had to be called and towed to the only tire store open, firestone. The technician removed the tire and said the tire separated and was replaced with a new tire. 4. Upon returning home, the tire was taken to my dealer who inspected the tire, said it was too torn up (2 pieces) to tell if it was structural failure and continental would not do anything. He said if tires fail it is in 1st 1,000 miles and something must have been hit. I advise that nothing was hit, that continental needed to know about the tire. He offered no further assistance. 5. Tuscaloosa & birmingham are roughly 50 miles apart, a little prior to reaching tuscaloosa, the low tire sensor came on, which it will do occasionally, did not notice any change in how the vehicle handled and planned to have it checked out at a continental dealer in birmingham the next day.

On 4/21/14, I purchased 2 crosswind tires(20560r16) the seller gave me, in writing, tread wear warranty of 50,000 miles. However, I have only driven approx. 19,000 miles and 90% of treads are gone. I have contacted the seller, he told me to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer refused to honor their warranty. I even contacted my credit card CO. To help, but they refused it too. I paid $129. 00 plus $40. 00 for installation. Please help me get my money back.

Premature wear on bridgestone tires not due to misalignment. Manufacturer rep refuses to replace because it is not down to 2/32. Supposed to be 80000 mile rated, but actual mileage is only 40000. The tires on passenger side are evenly but more significantly worn compared to the driver side. Say I need to continue to drive until one tire reaches 2/32 despite the danger it represents. Claim it is manufacturers guidelines. No injuries yet, but am I supposed to drive on these tires until a crash or someone is killed?.

When I brought my car into the tire dealership where I had purchased my tires complaining of a shaking steering wheel (thinking one of my tires had lost a balance weight), that's when I discovered 3 of the 4 tires I had purchased a year ago September (and which had only 14,000 miles of wear) had all experienced the steel belt separating inside the tire. Updated 09/02/lj.

During the drive to florida, a hard brake (no skid) and steer to the left was necessary. Immediately following that, the steering became shaky and a road rumbling noise was noticed. After settling in, we took the car to a firestone dealer and they re-balanced the tires. That did not stop the shaky steering wheel or the road noise. One week later, while changing lanes, the tires ran over lane divider bumps and a blowout occurred. Replaced the flat tire with the spare (full size) and immediately, the road noise ceased and the steering wheel was perfectly normal. I inspected the tire and found a 2 inch rip/gap in the center of the tread. Went back to the firestone dealer and was told I had run over a some kind of sharp road hazard. I believe the belt beneath the tread had failed.

Instability while driving increased the risk for a crash. The contact stated that the failure was caused by the way the tires were balanced by sams club. The failure mileage was 57,500 and the current mileage was 58,000.

In June of 2007 we purchased a new Toyota Avalon. Within 2 weeks we noticed it pulling intermittently to the right and left on the open road and when braking. At times it would jerk wildly to the right, left, right or opposite when braking and it has a tendency to climb uphill against the slant of the open road. The situation is worse in cold weather. We had the car aligned numerous times, rotated the tires, checked the pressures, all with no improvement. We took it to a local Toyota dealer and had it serviced 3 times (with Toyota corp. Instruction) with no results. At Toyota's suggestion, we replaced 2 of the michelin tires that came on the car (at our expense) with 2 high quality mastercraft tires which showed significant tread wear after only 700 miles. It has worn out 2 original tires at 15,000 miles and the other 2 now need replaced at 19,000 miles. The car will not hold an alignment. We were told by Toyota reps. That the car is reacting to "road crown" conditions and that they were unable to duplicate the problem. Toyota instructed us to pursue the problem with the national center for dispute settlement. The determination was "the customer failed to prove the conditions present are due to a manufacturing defect in material or workmanship". We have since taken the car to another Toyota dealer in our area and the service manager was able to duplicate the problem and agrees that the situation exists as we've described. He contacted Toyota corporate and the reply as stated on the service report is "Toyota says no fix for concern normal condition for nature of vehicle". We have driven other Avalons and know people who own them and are not aware of any others with this problem. Our first concern is that there may be a safety issue with our car. In addition, we feel that for the price paid we should be able to enjoy driving it and not be constantly fighting the car. We would like the car to be competently repaired and reimbursement for 4 tires.
Similar complaint to case number 10192892 filed 6/11/2007. I purchased 4 toyo spectrum tires for 1999 Avalon that continually lost air. They ere all slow leaks, but required filling up once per month. I checked them for nails, but there wasv nothing evident.

On 1-9-07 hit a pot hole in cleveland, ohio, had to replace tire. On 1-10-07 pick up a piece of metal on interstate 77 at a speed of 70 mph. Tore up rear left tire casing, michelin tire.
I have a set of 215/55-17 lifeliner sle tires by cooper tires. They were installed on my 2006 Toyota Avalon at 19000 miles. I have 33000 on them now. They were balanced and rotated at 10000 miles. I have made 3 complaints to dealer about tires. They have been very rough riding like they have knots in them since the day they were installed. I have had alignment checked by Toyota and it is fine. The dealer gives excuses every time. I think these tires may have defects. They are getting worse everyday.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Avalon. While parallel parking the vehicle, the rim hit the curb and the tire hit the curb. The failure mileage was 10000. The tires were balanced 5 times after the incident occurred. There were no repairs made to correct the problem. The current mileage was 30,000. The failure mileage was 10,000.
I've had my 2002 Toyota Avalon since it had about 25,500 miles. It now has about 77500. From the start of owning the car, the tires were worn as if the car was not aligned properly. We had it aligned at a reputable company, purchased top of the line michelin tires. They wore incorrectly just as the first ones on the car when we bought it in spite of property rotating of them, etc. Last Nov or so, we replaced the tires again which should have lasted much longer than they did. Again, the tires are wearing improperly. We have had the car aligned no less than once per year. Another issue is the steering. If you barely move the steering wheel it "overcorrects". I've learned to drive it carefully with this issue, but every person who has driven is astounded at their first experience. I've sending this now because I received a recall on the steering column and telephoned the dealer to ask if this is why it is recalled. He said it isn't. Therefore, I think someone should be aware of these issues with this vehicle. Other than these items, the car has been a great vehicle.

2003 Toyota Avalon with a tire repair and replacement. Consumer states that the tire was repaired due to puncture. Then the tire was replaced and the new tire and the old tires were then filled with nitrogen. The consumer stated the tires front tires were leaking air. He re-filled them with air. While driving, the right front tire exploded as a result of the tire being filled with nitrogen.
Vehicle's odometer and speedometer is off. Extra equipment was added by the manufacturer (16 inch tires as opposed to standard 15 inch tires) which resulted in the speedometer/odometer problem. The consumer requested a fix, refund or repurchase of the vehicle.
This tire completely shredded.
Failure of a tire at highway speed. The tread portion of the tire separated from the casing of the tire resulting in a loss of control and vehicle damage. The driver was able to stop the vehicle without damage to other vehicle of injury to the passengers.
Car hydroplaned in light rain. Tires are nearly new and properly inflated. Dt.

There is constant vibration at 60-75 mph, and vehicle pulls to the left, seldom to the right. Dealer replaced tires and rims, it did not remedy the problem. Two tires showed excessive wear and were replaced. While driving the lug nuts caps fell off and were replaced.
I have had to replace (4) sets of bridgestone and firestone tires on my '97 Avalon due to hydroplaneing, poor wear quality and substandard performance. I have had nothing but firestone & bridgestone tires on this car since I purchased it new. Yet, I have spent close to $2000. 00 and alot of my time to replace tires that haven't held up to the performance and quality "as advertised"! on 11/16/00, I spent an additional $543. 15 replacemy last set of bridgestone tires with michilen 205/60/15 tires. I also have a 1988 Toyota 4-runner with 230,000 miles on it. From the day I bought it new, I have had nothing but bridgstone dessert deuler's on it. The last set of b/s dessert duelers I purchased for my 4-runner were so poorly built, that I went through 8 (eight) tires to find four good ones; because they were all out of round and hopping. On 11/15/00, I was forced to replace my 4-runner tires with michelin tires as well. I have been a true bridgestone/firestone tire diehard until these most recent problems. But I got to the point that I felt that the safety of my family and I was at risk due to the poor quality and performance bridgestone/firestone had advertised their tires to be. I am requesting a full investigation by NHTSA and the bridgestone/firestone company. I have all the documentation to support my claim. Please feel free to call me at (904) 223-9549 if you have furhter questions or I may assist in any way. Thank you in advance for your help. Respectfully, john m. Graves. (tiresize: p20565hr15)( dot number: tire size: p20565hr15 ).
Right rear tire went flat. While requesting repair, dealer indicated steel belts were beginning to protrude through carcass. Upon visual inspection of the undamaged left rear tire, observed the same phenomenon. All tires had only an estimated 5 - 10 thousand miles tread remaining. These tires were rotated in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation and maintained at 32 psi pressure. Car is in excellent mechanical condition with no front end damage nor alignment anomalies. As a result of the defects noted on both rear tires chose to replace all four tires. ( dot number: tire size: p205/65r15 ).
All four tire worn. Nlm.
Believe manufacturer is putting inferior tires on original equipment autos and then refers customer to tire manufacturer when complaints arise. ( dot number: tire size: p205/65r15 ).
Vehicle is extremely sensitive to "tire steer". Two of the original equipment tires (bridgestone) were replaced at 3000 miles, but the problem recurred. The entire set of tires were replaced with bf goodrich tires, but the same problem recurred. Rotating the tires becomes problematic because the wrong switch exacerbartes the problem. The resulting "pull" indiactes the need for a wheel alignment when that is not the problem, or obscures the need at other times. The need to fight the wheel causes driver fatigue and could result in loss of control.
Vehicle tire equipment was considered cheap. The tires failed at a low mileage.
